This review is long overdue. My kids were patients since their respective births in 2006 & 2011, up until post covid (2021/2022). Their main pediatrician was Cathy Marshall. We actually liked her overall. She was warm, patient and knowledgeable and I liked that she would answer to her emails personally. I'd say my main issue was the newer front desk staff who was rude, condescending and arrogant. Other main issue was when they introduced their membership fees charging upward $300 yearly for services that are standard and that had always been free. See photo attached: these should absolutely not be charged extra as they are what any pediatrician should offer as part as their fee. read more

We like the doctors here, mainly Dr. Marshall but I feel that others throw in their testing services for revenue purposes as it does not change the outcome of the treatment. Also their new fee per child is ridiculous and find to be money hungry and not carrying for their patients. Hopefully that changes or we would find ourselves in a position to search for another office. read more

We go to Dr. Marshall, we have been for the last 8 years almost. We love her. She is an excellent doctor, when we had newborns she was attentive and caring for us as new parents. She is honest and always gives reasons for what she recommends. The office is a little crazy but I mean it's full of kids so I get why things can be chaotic. I like that the office has several physicians so even if Dr. Marshall is unavailable we can see someone else in cases of emergencies. read more

This review is long overdue because we've had nothing but top notch care from Dr Danny for the last 5 years but what he did for us recently was above and beyond. Our younger son had an accident while getting ready for school that resulted in an object imbedded into his knee up to the joint. We immediately called Dr Danny and he picked up even though it was prior to normal office hours. Once he assessed the situation, he instructed us to take him to Tarzana Medical ER and called ahead to give them a heads up. When we arrived, the staff there was so helpful and mentioned Danny's call. They immediately got to work and shortly after our son was getting his knee X-Rayed. As so often is the case, the ER was busy but Dr Danny kept us informed as they examined the X-rays and decided on a treatment plan. He was on the phone with the ER doctors and nurses and providing us with information in real time. It was incredible. Dr Danny, after reviewing the X-Ray, suggested he have an orthopedic surgeon take a look. He then sent the X-Ray to the Director of pediatric orthopedics who ordered CT and eventually performed successful surgery later that day. The speed of care and expertise of doctors could not have been possible without Dr Danny's constant involvement. His ability to easily explain what was going on to two frightened parents and a seven year old in severe pain made what was a stressful situation bearable. This was a great example of how medicine and care should work! Everyone came together for a successful outcome driven by Dr Danny! I cannot RECOMMEND Dr Danny enough. He truly cares about his patients and their families. Your kids would be lucky to be in his care. read more

HIGHLY recommend Balboa Pediatrics. Dr Danny is amazing - makes himself regularly available, is super kind, and genuinely cares. If something goes wrong, he helps us figure things out every step of the way. Above and beyond on literally every interaction. The lactation consultants are a HUGE plus. They are both knowledgeable, friendly, understanding, and don't leave your side until you feel you've "got it". From breast feeding to mouth exercises to burping to formila -- no question is "out of bounds". The clinic offers a nurse hotline that actually is available and calls you back if they are busy. I feel like they already know my voice but are ALWAYS making us feel heard. Some more benefits -- they have a well vs sick waiting room, they are open late, and work on Saturday, AND their doctor's are the on-call docs not some generic answering service. HIGHLY recommend. Our daughter has been a patient of Dr. Julia's since birth, and she has been one of the best physicians I have ever encountered. Dr. J made me feel confident as a new parent from day 1. Yes, there is an annual fee, but it has always been worth it. Same day appointments, lactation specialists, access to quick labs, an office staff that can fill out paperwork for school quickly, email immunization history, etc. A special place, especially today with less and less personal relationships in medical care. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Julia Bruckner since our daughter was born 2.5 years ago. She is the best possible fit for us. She takes our concerns seriously but never panics. She is very down to earth and never makes us feel rushed. She gives great advice and cares about the whole family's wellness knowing that the parents wellbeing can impact the child and has helped set us up with a wonderful sleep consultant, lactation specialist, dentist, and anyone else we might need to see. The office is wonderful, all the staff is absolutely lovely and every doctor has the type of demeanor you want when you're in crisis. I love the 24 hour on call line, it is frankly amazing that there is always a nurse or doctor available day or night to help you navigate tricky medical situations. Hours are great, love that they're open on Saturdays. I see some other complaints about the fees, considering the on call and off hours nature of this office, the fees seem reasonable to me. This is a business and health insurance companies are not kind to non specialist doctors, I'm happy to pay a bit extra each year to support this wonderful group of people, especially for that 24 hour emergency line which I've used many times. I feel very grateful we have this team to lean on. read more

This office will make you hate all other doctor's offices. The staff is incredibly efficient. Calls are answered, messages returned, can ALWAYS get a same day appt, and they are open Saturdays! Best part, I can get in and out in record time. I'm always called within 10 minutes of arrival. They are respectful of your time. They understand that a recovering mother does not need the physical pain or mental stress of entertaining a newborn in a waiting room for an hour, which was always the case for me at Facey Medical Group. We have Dr Julia, whom even with a newborn at home, never skipped a beat. We have seen many doctors at the facility as they all cover for each other. Each one just as lovely. Shout out to nurse Felipe who's like every kiddo's big brother. Yes, they now have an annual fee which seemed annoying when I was a new patient. But now that I've seen the heart and performance of the facility, it's worth every penny. Cheaper than rushing to Urgent Care because no one is available when needed. read more

My husband and I love our kid's pediatrician but saddened that we have to find a new pediatrician. This office charges annual fees. One doctor charges $500 for first child and an additional $250 for any kids after that. We've been coming here for a few years and very disappointed they had adopted this annual fee. We love Dr. Danny and all the other doctors and staff here! If we can't see him for an urgent appt we get in to see one of the others and they are all great. A lot of people complain about the yearly fee which yeah is a lot but for me it's worth it because I feel we get extra services you don't get at other doctors offices. I know people at UCLA peds and places like that who have to wait forever to get appts and don't get the same level of personalized service and for me that's worth it . I needed a doctors note, I got one within an hour. If we need an urgent appt we have one within the hour. Dr Danny personally calls us to check in on things, and they have a lactation consultant on staff. We never have to wait long at the office and the office staff is always super friendly. read more

We have 14 month old twins and every appointment with Dr. Danny has been wonderful. The whole practice has been built to make things better and faster for parents. We were worried our son was having trouble digesting something and they were able to run testing in-house (vs. sending out) and had an answer in ten minutes. Turned out he needed a very expensive kind of formula, so the staff worked directly with our insurance to get them to cover it. When our daughter had to go to the ER, Dr Danny was in constant contact making sure she was going to the right centers for the best treatment (we were originally sent to a different burn center and he intervened to send us to a better one, and got on the phone with them to make sure we would be able to get in okay). He checked in while we were at the ER and early the next morning. I also want to say that his office staff is phenomenal. One of the greatest pain-points with any medical office is the staff, there can be a real disconnect between how great a doctor is and the people running their office. I have stopped going to some doctors who were genuinely great because their office was so miserable to deal with. Everyone at this practice is on the ball and really want to help you out. We switched our girls to Balboa after moving to the valley. Our Doctor is Dr. Julia, and she is absolutely fantastic! She's young and vibrant, a thorough but not alarmist kind of doctor. She responds to emails, and helps me avoid unnecessary visits. But when I do go in I never feel judged as a parent, even when I am maybe being a little overly concerned as a mom. The office staff has always been super nice and accommodating. Switching pediatricians in the middle of a pandemic wasn't easy, but they always had appointments and drive up testing available and would even have spaces for my husband and I if we needed to be tested. After experiencing another Encino office that had tiny rooms, narrow hallways, terrible parking, disgruntled nurses, and a doctor that wanted parents to stop asking questions... This practice is the ultimate breath of fresh air! I LOVE Dr. Miriam Chan. She's outgoing, kind, and a wealth of knowledge. She comes from a family of pediatricians, so I trust her. She is a saint when it comes to patience and doesn't rush me when I ask her multiple questions. Plus, she makes my son feel comfortable. Dr. Danny visited both of our children at Tarzana hospital within hours of their births, and has provided the most attentive, loving, and caring medical care to our family for the past 7 years. We have referred multiple families to him. When he is on vacation, he has a competent team of pediatricians, lactation consultants, and advice nurses who step in to provide consistent care year-round. He was the first doctor to bring COVID-19 and full panel testing in-house, setting up a parking lot clinic during the pandemic, and providing continuous advice and care throughout. Dr Danny is always rushing through the appointments. It feels like a sweatshop for pediatric care. They have a $500 annual fee for Dr Danny and $100 for other doctors. I haven't even met the new doctor and the front receptionist is pressuring me to pay the annual fee. Not to mention the woman working at the front desk is absolutely rude. If you are a new parent and considering bringing your child here, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Look for a doctor that actually cares. read more

We found them through friends ( since we were First timers) who also were clients in this office and we chose Dr. Julia Bruckner as our primary physician. Since DAY 1 - she has helped us through thick and thin, helping mom and dad manage the new job as parents - ESPECIALLY during the pandemic. I was reluctant at first to share this review but I feel like it is necessary. We loved Dr. Krasnoff and everyone that we dealt with at Balboa Pediatrics. My issues does not lie there. The two years we have brought our children to this practice has been a positive experience and we always felt like we were in good hands. Dr. Krasnoff is kind, thorough and great with our babies. My issue is the mandatory office fee that was first implemented during covid to cover the cost of supplies for the office. Now that that has past they have decided to adopt this as an annual administration fee charging $100 per child, with one Doctor charging a $500 fee and an $250 fee for additional siblings not to exceed $1000 dollars a year! This to me is an extremely poor and insensitive practice. I cannot help but to feel taken advantage of. We already pay an exorbitant amount of money a year for insurance and additional bills for office visits. As a family affected by the film strike, we don't have extra money to hand over to a well off doctors office. This by no means is a small practice and I can only imagine the amount of extra money this is pulling in. We made the obvious decision to pull our kids from this office and placed them into another practice just across the street. When the new office asked us why we were changing doctors they were shocked to hear about the office fees. This feels like a weird "club" fee and I'm never going to pay to have privileges to go to a doctor. As a family we see several other doctors and not one of those practices does this. read more

Terrible practice! My son had constant ear infections as a baby, and all these doctors did was prescribe antibiotics for him. 7 rounds of antibiotics by the time he was 15 months old. Then he developed allergies (because of all the antibiotics) and all the doctor wanted to do was give him allergy medicine!! This is no way to treat children that are sick!!!!! They did not care to look into WHY he was getting sick, just kept prescribing drugs. After much research, now I know you cannot trust everything doctors say and do, you have to research for yourself to keep your children safe and healthy!!! Do not come here!!!! read more

We found Dr Danny four years ago when my first was born. Even though we've moved twice we still drive over 40 minutes to go to this practice. They are breastfeeding supportive and have lactation consultants at the practice. They are also ok with delaying or spacing out vaccines. Great practice. read more

Knowledgeable. Caring. Passionate. Wonderful. I could go on and on, we are blessed to know our daughters are in such great care. And every other provider in this group practice is just as caring and wonderful. If you have an emergency and your doctor is either not in or not available they will have you see another doctor and every single time the experience was just as amazing.
