In the land of tourists and superrrr touristy restaurants, lies this awesome local tapas…read morerestaurant. With no English menu present, this is definitely a spot to hit up if you're in the mood to try something new & adventurous without knowing exactly what you ordered :) Came here twice during my super short stay in Ibiza (it was that goooood!) and both times = fantastic. The staff here is friendly and even with their limited English, they are able to help recommend typical / popular tapa dishes if you don't know what to order. There is no paper menu, so look at the boards on the wall for the food options. If you reallllly don't know what to order and not that hungry, simply grab your plate, go up to the bar, and pick up the finger sandwiches (roughly 1-2 euro/ piece). Prices for the food here is fair and reasonable and overall, here are my top recommendations for food: -Secreto Iberico: OMG, THIS DISH IS KILLLERRRRRR GOOOOOD. Yaaaas, I don't know what the sauce is but it's so damn delicious when you dip the crispy iberico ham in it (ham texture is similar to the crispy pork you eat at Korean places) -Callos: If you like tripe, go for this dish. Ahhhh, so yum yum with the different types of tripes used -Ensalada Escabeche con pollo: If you like something on the healthier side, order this badass salad. All of my guy friends thoroughly enjoyed this dish so.....that says a ton :) The sauce used with this dish is amazing Other random things to note: Seats - when you come in, simply sit wherever. -Splitting the bill: If you're in a group and would like to split the bill, let your server know before hand. If the place gets too packed, help your server out by stating how much each person is going pay and hand the server your card/money. -Apparently, this place is also a wine bar C: .....Definitely will visit again the next time I'm here Aiii. I am hungry now.

This place is AMAZING!…read more Friendly to foreign speakers, and the food was top notch! El Zaguan has an option where you can simply take small food items from server's trays as they walk around, and keep the toothpick from it as a token. When you've had your fill, they count your toothpicks and charge you for each one you've taken, and it's very reasonable! I tried about 9 different small items, and payed about $20 USD, and everything was great!

They have a Ratatouille mouse stuffed animal on their shelf which I thought was very adorable. The blonde waitress (and I think part-owner) we had was super friendly, attentive and smiley. We tried the Caesar salad, croquettes (3 different flavors: suckling pig, Cauliflower and 1 other one I cannot remember) with 3 different dipping sauces, 2 chicken dishes (cannot recall the name), and a mango dessert (tiny, good for 1 person). We ate everything family-style though not every dish is easy to share (example: the mango dessert). This place is great for a special occasion or if you want to dine somewhere where you can get dressed up. Our favorite dish was, hands-down, the Caesar salad. I never expected to be impressed by a Caesar salad. It was prepared in a way we have never seen before. The salad was chopped but not mixed up, wrapped in cheese, and then flambeed with a torch with the dressing inside the cheese. All of their dishes are presented in a whimsical and unique way. The hot-dogs, which we didn't order, comes on a plastic blow-up balloon dog, the croquettes are served on a metal tree with different branches, some other dish is served on a 70s mini-van, etc. They gave us a complimentary licorice liquor shot at the end of our meal. They take online reservations. They were very accommodating when we had to edit our reservation to a later time. During our visit, there was a large business group there as well as a bachelorette party. Even so, the restaurant was never rowdy/super loud. The interior is very swanky, modern and soft in decor. There is a pink/purple glow in the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor/patio dining.

We lucked out and scored a table on their first night open for the season. Our server was of the utmost help by guiding us through the menu and strongly suggesting certain dishes. We ordered a few drinks and some wine through out our dinner and I was in love with everything we got! Drinks were creative and the wine was a great quality. The food is on another level. I can finally understand why Spain is the gastronomy center the world ...or so I've been told. All the dishes were complex and had an explosion of flavor and were like works of art. Almost too pretty to eat. I can't even choose a favorite dish. Everything I ate was as good as the last and the next. I highly recommend eating here. It will take your taste buds on a special journey that you will not regret going on!

We had the croquettes, which were actually pretty decent. The salmon was their special which they recommended to us. It came served with a vegetable medley. The salmon was super dry and overcooked, and not one thing on the plate was seasoned. The vegetables did not have any butter, salt, or pepper. Neither did the fish. We had to ask them to bring us S&P and we asked for a sauce to try to make up for the dryness. They gave us tarter which was pretty good but didn't go super well with the dish. We also had a burrata that surprisingly wasn't served with any grain, you are just meant to eat it with a fork. To drink, we had the white sangria which was also okay. I am only giving a two because in addition to the food being poor, the service was also incredibly slow. It took us over two hours at the resturant for just two people because of how long it would take to get the servers attention and to get the food. The dishes each came out 20 minutes apart, and the burrata came out after the salmon, which I thought was strange. Overall, this was not a pleasant experience. There are much nicer tapas place on the island to explore that are much cheaper!

My husband and I were trying to find some good places to dine while we were in Ibiza, but we were there from Sat-Mon. And I don't know if you're familiar with Spain yet, but they pretty much shut everything down on Sundays & Mondays. Monday afternoon, we had just finished climbing the castle and looking out at the views. We walked into town and I remembered seeing the reviews for this gem of a restaurant. We walked in around 3:45pm on a Monday. I was sure they'd either be closed or closing, but to our surprise, they were open and very welcoming! We were the only people in there besides one person in the front on their computer. We sat in the back, outdoor space. It was lovely and peaceful, and we were so tired. The food came out immediately after we ordered and it had a stunning presentation, but the taste was even more stunning! I'm from NYC, we eat out a lot and we know good food. We're picky, new restaurants open and close every day in NYC. Mar a Vila should be in NYC!! Or at least they should open a location there or in Brooklyn. They definitely need to open more locations somewhere. This food is too good to be kept on such a tiny island, away from so many people! Well, at the end of our meal, Patricia, cleared our plates and then just let us sit. She never made us feel like we needed to leave. It was very nice and a great way to revive after a long, adventurous day. Patricia & Pablo, you have an amazing restaurant! I hope I can come back to Ibiza and experience it more.
