The ambiance was amazing the restaurant was super fancy and yum. The steak was cooked perfectly, and that cinnamon pineapple was to die for. My favorite soup has been clam chowder so I was so happy to see that that was the soup of the day. Their mashed potatoes are also perfect. First-- expect to spend a good $70+ per person if you have anything but water. This is an upscale version of an all you can eat buffet. They have four sides, double-decker for cold dishes. A huge variety of pasta, veggie, salad options. They also have another wall of shaving dishes with soups, potatoes, and other rotating hot items. The meats are carved at your table, and they come by pretty frequently if you have the green up. The variety of meats, seasonings, and cuts are superb! The grilled pineapple is to die for! It's my absolute favorite each time I come here, I don't even touch the desserts. All I want is the grilled pineapple! The cocktails are well crafted, and very reasonable. Tonight I dined at Samba Brazilian Grill and have mixed feelings about my experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, with a lively and vibrant energy that adds to the overall dining experience. The decor is amazing and I love the different levels and seating arrangements there are. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was prompt. However, I was a little underwhelmed by the food. The majority of the food was only average and lacked the bold flavors I was expecting from a Brazilian grill. Also, the buffet was mediocre. Not bad but also not good; very mixed vibes from this place. The meat was cooked well, but not as flavorful as I had hoped. It all kind of tasted the same and I didn't like how you couldn't pick where you wanted your meat cut from (medium, medium well, etc). I'm not sure I would rush back to dine here again. Never tried Brazilian bbq before so was interested to try at Samba! Overall quality of the food was decent but not sure if i'd go again considering the price. The salad bar was not your standard salad bar the vegetables I noticed was a zucchini salad, hearts of palm and lettuce. There were four types of dressings. There was a cold noodle salad, A cheese cube and meat spread, a cold pulled chicken in sauce, three types of salsa. Candied almonds, candied pecans. Three types of warm soup were offered & warm white rice. A large basket of home made Brazi Bites was waiting at the salad bar for anyone who dare try. There was also sourdough bread available. I believe I tried all of meat, and cinnamon pineapple it was all quite delicious. Move over apple pie! I would highly recommend this for meat eating friends! read more

I understand inflation is real, the owners have tax cases and things cost money but I walked away flabbergasted that there's no way anyone can justify this place costing the same as Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao. I was confused as I never recall paying $45/pp. I've returned a few times each time I'm in town and will HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sunday brunch. I will say it's nice to have such a place in town versus driving to Chicago even Milwaukee. Nonetheless, I saw if you're redeeming a GroupOn they'll access a 20% tip and I get that and support it to ensure the staff is properly compensated. So, 5 stars for keeping the pineapple on the grill. 2 stars for not working harder to keep the fruit flies away as I swatted too many last night. 5 stars for the place and free parking. Although, there was a street event 8/9/19 and I had to pay for parking. 2 stars for the service. I thought the place closed at 10p. I got on Yelp and see it does close at 10p yet they started shutting down at 9pm and although everyone stressed we didn't have to rush... the check being tendered proved otherwise and the guachos stopped walking around. My first time ever at a Brazilian steakhouse and this was a great first experience!! The sugar/cinnamon grilled pineapple slices are DIVINE. They are very sweet, yes, but so tasty and fresh, especially the edge pieces that have both crispy and soft parts. The meats were on the more medium rare side but well seasoned and marinated. Not sure why all the hate on this place. It seems like a good but not great Brazilian steak house to me. We went with a group on a football weekend and had a reservation. Yes its a little pricey but - meat! I thought the salad bar was a little lacking and didn't have anything there that I thought really tasted good. The meat selections were pretty good. I liked the flank steak the best, wow was that tasty. Others were alright too. The meat was a bit salty however, and was able to keep hydrated with fairly frequent refills of water glass. Sometimes there was a bit of wait between meat courses, maybe 5-10 minutes at most. If that's annoying to you... ok. Service was ok. Waiter was friendly but he really doesn't do much and was a bit hard to find. Gaucho's were generally friendly and usually came around fairly frequently but there were a few gaps in service. Service was okay. I've dined at brazilian steakhouses before and thought it was odd how the waiter didn't ask how we wanted our steak, as I've usually been asked this before. All the meat options are served rare to medium rare so if that's not ideal for you then you should probably just skip this place all together. I made reservations about a month in advance and listed the occasion as our anniversary and this was never acknowledged by the hostess or waiter. Meats came around pretty fast but the service was super slow. We were sat at one of the smallest tables that barely held our 2 plates each, our waiter took forever to come around and remove them so we had to stack them up constantly to make room which is unfortunate for him as his tip had to suffer. My wife is Brazilian, as such we have made it a custom to frequent Samba for our anniversary. I made an online reservation and arrived at the restaurant as we normally would per the past five years . The staff was great and we even encountered a native Brazilian to seat us. All was great until we started receiving food. The meat was severely undercooked, even though I like a rare steak. Severely undercooked. Just trying to get it on the floor. The feijoada was without any flavor. We both ordered a caipirinha. Drinks were good but we'd only taken a swig of our drink when I asked to talk with the GM about the food. I really love this restaurant but felt that the quality had fallen precipitously from last year and as a frequent guest wanted to let them know that we weren't pleased with the quality of the food. When she arrived at the table she was accompanied by a gaucho that proceeded to yell at my wife and I. I told her that the feijoada didn't have any flavor and the meat was undercooked. I have lived in Brazil for over ten years so I know how these establishments work and the baseline quality required. She proceeded to yell at my wife and I that no one else shared our opinion. I tried to assure her that my opinion was only in the interests of the establishment but was berated in the dining room nonetheless. We got up and left. We waited at the front desk to pay our bill when she appeared and told us that we couldn't skip out on our bill. We told her we were waiting for our bill and would pay in full but she continued to yell at us and called us drunks, an obvious attempt to alleviate her own responsibilities for their food quality. She also asked my wife to speak English when trying to explain the situation to the host who spoke Portuguese. We told her to look at our drinks on the table that were full, not because of the drink quality but because we simply hadn't had a chance to drink them. In the end, we were humiliated and castigated as frequent guests for trying to call attention to the fact that standards had fallen and we weren't pleased. The staff, aside from the GM and Guacho that threatened my wife, were great and got us squared away but with a heavy heart, as a frequent patron who has frequently supported our only Brazilian steakhouse, I will never again go to Samba and for anyone else considering the establishment, there are other places in the state street area that will better receive your patronage. I really love what Samba was and hope they can get back to the great Brazilian cuisine that they served but based on the experience my wife and I had during an anniversary dinner we'll never go back. Just to clarify, we were paying with gift cards that we receive for Xmas every year from my parents so this was not about money, although pricey, and this was not the fault of the staff who treated us very well but the fault of management that has let this prestigious and one of a kind establishment fall into mal repute. My son and I were turned away from this establishment and given no other reason than that 'they couldn't serve us for tonight'. We came at around 6 pm, well before their closing time at 10pm, and weren't even given the option to wait if they had a fuller house. My son even tried calling later and confirmed that they did have seats open for the night. Which begs the question why we couldn't be served and I can't help but default to our minority Asian status. We came from New York and have never had such an uncomfortable experience of being turned away from a restaurant potentially on the basis of my race. The place is so nice and cute but the service is horrible. It's not $50 per person plus 20% gratuity worth. They don't have many variety of meats and what kind of Brazilan restaurant don't have Caipirinha. Especially when they don't make your drink right and asked to fix it, they will charge you extra fee. And for the house vodca $5.50, ridiculous. It shouldn't be extra charged when the bartender made bad drink. The manager came out and basically he yelled at us. And the bartender was so pissy when we left, he was pouting. For one table (4 persons) cost almost $300 fine restaurants do not treat your customers like that, especially it's local business. Okay. This review is compared to other restaurants in Madison, not other Brazilian Steakhouses/Grills. Also---this is a review of their Brunch. I was willing to give this place a chance despite the reviews. I always try a place once unless multiple people got sick from their experience. They have their own parking lot! There were plenty of spaces at 11am on Sunday. Unfortunately, after 11am the parking situation is not ideal. Good luck finding street parking too. You can make reservations online, which is convenient. This is a large space. Seating is available to the left and right and upstairs. Selection. So they have a flank steak, ham, sausage and cinnamon pineapple (everyone's favorite). I would definitely suggest that you get the ham and pineapple together (if you do eat meat). The pineapple is great alone too. There is a lot to choose from the "buffet' section. They always have scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It seems like there is also always popcorn shrimp. One time I went they had waffles and another time they had chicken empanadas. I'm guessing that they change up one of their selections each week. There's salad (variety of greens and other veggies), fruits, yogurt, and desserts. Drinks. Mimosa all the way. It was so strong and delicious. It made the meal more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend getting a mimosa with brunch. Do it! Service. Decent. I would say that they do a great job on refilling waters and taking plates away. Like many restaurants, they seemed short-staffed but our waiter made periodic appearances and there were plenty of guys with meat on sticks coming around too. I only had the buffet and it was plenty. Honestly, I am extremely disappointed by this place. Came here on a Monday evening with my SO for our 4 year anniversary. The concept is you have a marker indicating whether you would like to continue to be served ("green side") or you would like to be left alone to eat or you're finished (green side). We were told there were nine items on the grill. We began perusing the salad bar, which, while interesting and necessary next to the meats. It was a little lacking in options though for the picky eater. Again, I must compare it to the other Brazilian places similar to this I've been to before, and those offered a wider variety of items. Among offerings there were several different types of salads offered, from fresh greens to seafood salad. In addition, there were items such as soup of the day, rice, cheesy potatoes, and stews. The cheese selection, while small (3 types of cheeses), was pretty tasty. Overall, the service itself was extremely slow. Maybe it was because it was a weekday night, but we found ourselves waiting about 5 minutes or more between each meat we saw. Overall, the meats were alright, the top sirloin being our favorite. Other items include: chicken legs, cinnamon-apple lamb, linguica (pork sausage), bacon wrapped turkey, flank steak, a tenderloin, grilled cinnamon pineapple, and a few other items I can't recall. The top sirloin itself was delicious, but several of the others fell flat, including some very dry/overcooked pieces of meat. The bacon wrapped turkey was also good, though not the type of food I would come to a place like this for. In addition, when we were almost finished with our meal, we finally received cheesy bread rolls. Although they were decent, they just fell a little flat and were just a little disappointing. The grilled pineapple was juicy and a good finish though (you have to catch the servers walking around with that, so time it right!). In the end, we were disappointed with the overall meal and were full just from waiting so long in between. We ended up not getting a dessert, as it was just time to leave. We went here for our anniversary dinner and it was by far the worst service we have ever had. The waitress, Grace H., was rude from the very beginning. She seemed annoyed to be working this evening. For first timers, I'd recommend for experience but, I would honestly drive all the way to Chicago for Fogo de Chao. During restaurant week, it was $35 yet, they did not have 2 cuts of meat available. The food was good. The skin on the lamb was crispy and tasty, the sirloin was fantastic, and the sausage was delicious! The pineapple adds a nice touch to the meal as a whole. The cheese bread was also extremely good! But one of my favorites was that beef stew. The rice unfortunately was undercooked and the salad bar was underwhelming. My problem with this place was the service. There was only one guy, Marcel, who was very kind and actually conversed with us. Some of the gauchos were very rude and seemed irritated whenever we'd reject certain cut of meat. Some at our table do not eat pork and every time we'd flip it to green there was 18 rounds of sausage and pork loin. The meats were already limited for restaurant week so there wasn't a good variety. The interior is really nicely decorated, service was a little slow when I went because of a groupon deal they had going on but that was ok because I couldn't eat meat that quickly anyway. The food was really good overall.They had a lot of different choices. The flank steak, filet mignon, and lamb in particular were tender and flavorful. Nothing was too dry or overcooked, though some of the garlic or parmesan crusted pork and chicken were a little too salty for me. The salad bar has some good options for cleansing your palate and adding some crunch to your meal, and the grilled pineapple and cheesy rolls were awesome. If you are a red-blooded carnivore like I am, then this is the place for you. I went with 4 other people who more or less agreed with me. The atmosphere here was pretty good. If you have never been to a Brazilian Grill before, this is a good start. They walk around with skewers of meat and you say whether you want it or not based on a "traffic light system". Green means go, red means stop giving me more meat. After they see your table has a green, they stop by with a skewer of meat. They ask you if you would like some and then give it to you or they don't, depending on how you respond. The food is delicious. The have rack of lamb, duck, parmesan breaded pork chops, honey pork chops, flank steak, top sirloin, sausage and some others that I am probably forgetting. I was not impressed too much by the honey pork chops, but they were still good. The rest was mouth watering, especially the top sirloin. The hostess was very kind. It seemed like a busy night and we were told initially that we would have to wait nearly 2 1/2 hours to get in. She said immediately after that she would try to get us in. Not 5 minutes later, we were sitting down. The waitress was far below par. It took nearly 5 minutes for her to show up and then the drink delivery was even worse. Three of our drinks came within 10 minutes. Another 2 came about 5 minutes later and then the last one we had to ask for several times. We were halfway done with eating when it finally came. We also had to ask for water each time we needed it and when you are eating more meat than you have seen in your life, you need a lot of water to wash it down. There was also a salad bar, which they must have put in just to ease people's minds that they were eating as much meat as they could handle. They had several cheeses that were declicious, but they were out of bread, so I had nothing to eat it with. I did not partake in the actual salad portion, so no review there. It is also very pricey, 33$ for a meal, 17$ for just the salad bar. Drinks weren't too outrageous. They had tap beer for anywhere from 3$ to 6$.
