You will be satisfied with your experience!…read more We recently completed a large foundation project with Groundworks in Edmonds, WA -- a roughly $70,000 job involving permits, engineering reports, and significant structural work. Given the scope and importance of the project, I wanted to share a complete and thoughtful perspective. Overall Experience From intake through execution, the experience was strong. The consultation was detailed, the proposed solution was clearly explained, and the permitting and engineering process -- which took a couple of months -- was handled smoothly with consistent updates. The crew worked efficiently, and the quality of the foundation work itself was solid. The Consultation & Planning Our home sits on a steep slope, and an addition at the back had begun to settle. Groundworks sent out Jerry for the initial consultation, and he was excellent. Jerry was knowledgeable, energetic, and charismatic, and he took the time to clearly walk us through the problem, the proposed solutions, and what a job of this scale would realistically involve. He explained the engineering considerations in plain language, answered questions thoroughly, and helped us understand both the risks and the long-term benefits of doing the work properly. From an intake and planning standpoint, we felt confident moving forward. The Project The scope of work was extensive and involved foundation reinforcement along the entire back of our house, as well as drilling and post installation outside of the foundation to properly support a failing rear addition. Because much of this work needed to be performed beneath and adjacent to our back deck, deck access was required. We discussed these access needs ahead of time, and I even removed the top decking myself to reduce labor costs, based on our shared understanding of what would be necessary. A Miscommunication (and What Happened Next) While I was out of town during part of the work, a miscommunication occurred on site regarding what deck changes were permitted. As a result, the deck was dismantled more extensively than any of us had anticipated. This was understandably frustrating -- not because anyone did something wrong, but because the situation was genuinely complex and confusing. It was a conversation that perhaps should have been extremely clear about what was happening, but it wasn't -- and it wasn't the fault of any single party. Once the issue was identified and elevated, senior leadership stepped in, and this is where Groundworks truly distinguished itself. Leadership Response & Resolution We ultimately worked directly with Nathan Malsch, the General Manager, who was professional, attentive, and genuinely committed to making things right. Initially, we discussed a 50/50 split on replacement lumber for rebuilding the deck. Nathan went well beyond that agreement. Groundworks purchased more than enough lumber for a full deck rebuild, had it delivered directly to our home, and even provided a Milwaukee impact driver/screwgun set along with Milwaukee bits to help with reconstruction! That level of ownership was frankly unexpected and deeply appreciated. It wasn't just about compensation -- it was about leadership taking responsibility and ensuring we felt supported after a frustrating situation. Final Takeaway Large foundation projects are complex. What ultimately matters is how a company responds when challenges arise. Based on the quality of the work, the professionalism shown during consultation, and the accountability demonstrated by senior leadership, I feel confident recommending Groundworks. We ultimately walked away satisfied and appreciative of the effort made to ensure we were truly taken care of.

I scheduled our one year maintenance for a technician to come out clean the drains, sump pump, and just make sure everything is working properly. Aspen arrived on time, kind and very professional. He answered all my questions and was a great reminder that this home improvement we chose to do was a smart and good decision. Thank you Aspen and all of the Groundworks crew!!

Leveled Up Chimney Services

I hired Darrell to inspect my two chimneys and install two chimney caps. Of the several quotes I…read morereceived his was the best and most honest. His knowledge of everything about masonry was on point and generous. My quest to cap my chimneys started this past spring when an adult Swift bird got into the gas fire box because the flue had fully opened up during a recent wind storm. Fortunately the pilot light for the gas log set was not lit and we were able to let the bird into the house, capture it into a garbage bag and release it unharmed outside. A few weeks later we were startled to hear the chirping of baby swifts in the same chimney when mom or dad dove down the chimney to bring them food at the tiny nest they built just above the flue opening. We had to endure the loud chirping ~ every 7 minutes for two months as the chicks grew and finally flew away. Darrel did a great job finding the right caps of different sizes, chipping some cement away from the one chimney liner to expose enough of the liner to attach the cap and even painted the chimney crown with some grey Flex Seal I had on hand to seal it until we replace it and the other two crowns when we sell our 35 year old home in the next year or two. Darrel did not want to charge me for the extra paint step but I compensated him anyway because he is an honest, knowledgeable businessman working to build his new business. I highly recommend Leveled Up.

Darrell contacted me after I submitted a project scope on BBB website…read more He offered prompt and free onsite evaluation and was very informative about the repair process, made his own recommendations without trying to tack on anything unnecessary. He was flexible and accommodating with the scheduling. Price negations were also very professional and I feel like I god a great value for the work he has performed. The project was to prep a fireplace for installation of wood burning insert stove and involved grinding out of external face cracked mortar between bricks causing internal fireplace leakage. Darell comped pickup and delivery of the fireplace insert and installation from the total cost of the project. As he was performing the job he recognized that the upper condition of the mortar was in a better state, and did not need repairs, so he refrained from fixing what wasn't broken and lowered the cost of the job. Later on when called about some follow up questions he was very accommodating and provided plenty of his time to consult on operation and maintenance of an insert fireplace. He earned my trust to confidently reach out to him for any further fireplace upkeep questions.

Jesse was friendly, responsive and easy to work with. Any problems we noticed were addressed as soon as we told him. The crews we had here were hardworking, professional and prompt. We didn't know much about land prep so Jesse Mack, the owner, came out here and talked through with us and gave us a quote. When the work started to clear everything out, we found out we had to much water in that area that would fill overnight and that was without raining. Jesse was back here again talking to us about the plan and explaining everything in details like how it would hurt stability of the building in the future if we do not deal with water issues. He wasn't forcing sale onto us and let us decide what we wanted to do. We ended up going with a lot of work done like filling in with larger rock, building retaining walls, and creating the french drain to let excess water drain into a ditch. Everything turned out to be perfect. They even helped us put in and cap future waste and water pipes. It was a lot more cost than we expected but given how much in touch Jesse keeps with his customers and explains everything and so are his employees too I can't say anything but the good. His guys that do the work are also very knowledgable and can help you answer any questions or anything that comes up. We had a lot of chat with them and they really do put in hard work.
