I bought Groupon first to try and became a frequent visit later. Ken is a super nice and friendly therapist. We had great talks and he is very engaged in his career. He also provided many suggestions about my working habits since my work is pretty much sitting in front of a desktop 8 hours a day. The massage went very smooth and Ken is always using the right amount of strength that you feel very comfy and effective. My first visit was in east Rochester and now he moved the studio to Pittsford. The environment is newly renovated and decorated well. I felt relaxed there. The massage went full hour and the price is very decent if u become a member. Much better than those 1 dollar 1 min massage or some of the super fancy but extremely pricy ones. I've been to Samarra twice now. I discovered it because it was the highest rated massage parlor in the Pittsford area. Their prices are fair, and their services are fantastic. The waiting room is spacious, bright, and full of foliage. Each of the massage rooms has a zen, simple, and clean look. He's made a truly beautiful place. I've had Ken help me twice now, and I can't imagine going to anyone else. He has helped me with severe neck, shoulder, and back pain. I have tried a chiropractor, physical therapist, acupuncture, and even CBD; but I've only truly gotten pain relief from the intensive massages that Ken provides. The is wasn't my first massage from Ken, far from it. But it was my first in his new location on Main Street in Pittsford. I have been a massage therapist myself for over 10 years so I am really fussy about so many things. And Ken just does everything right. Location - convenient, nearby parking available, nice neighborhood. Office vibe - comfortable, clean and relaxing Price - competitive and worth every penny The Massage - Ken always asks what I want his focus to be. Then he focuses on that. I know it sounds simple but so many therapists ask the question but don't follow through with how they conduct the massage. He periodically will ask about pressure and will adjust accordingly. BUT, he doesn't talk too much. So important to know when to shut up. Everything smells clean which is a HUGE thing for me. I hate old-smelling sheets and too much scented anything drives me nuts. Please don't go crazy with the lavender or the incense or the fabric softener. All of that just irritates me and with Ken, I don't have to worry about it. He also has table warmers on the his tables which is great because I get cold. His work is a nice balance between deep muscle work and relaxing strokes. I'm sure if I asked he could do an entire massage of one or the other so if you like straight up deep tissue or totally relaxing Swedish, he can do both. Every time I am in Rochester I try to see him. He is worth the drive. read more

Anthony A. Rochester, NY Several months ago I purchased 2 Groupon gifts certificates for 90 min. massages at Samarra. A few months ago I attempted to call several times in order to set up an appointment, but none of my calls were ever answered. So I turned to their website in an attempt to schedule and the only availability with a female massage therapist was for several weeks away with time availability being the middle of a workday. Customers should not have to wait weeks to get a massage appt. or cut a workday short. That's ridiculous! My appointments were changed several times by Ken for various reasons and was told incorrect times were available after confirming. On March 25th Brianna texted me some openings which I confirmed on 4 hours later for today April 2nd at 4pm. After leaving work early today and driving from out of town for something I looked forward to all week, I arrived to be told that I was not on the schedule. What a screw up! I am so done with this place and just want my money back to go elsewhere. There is nothing Samarra(Ken) could do to make up for this experience. read more

I've gotten massages from a bunch of different therapists, both here in Rochester and in Seattle, where I used to live. I found Ken via a Groupon deal while I was trying out new LMTs, but he was so great that I've looked no further! He's laid back and professional, and does a fantastic job on my back and shoulder issues (he's especially good with the psoas and all that tricky lower back anatomy). His location just above Joe Bean is easy to get to, and there's always parking at the side of the building. A great find! read more
