There are not enough words in the dictionary to help me describe my fantastic experience with Dr. Sam Most. Before I met Dr. Most, I had consultations with two other plastic surgeons. Neither of them made me feel comfortable enough to actually go through with the surgery. I felt like they didn't really listen to my needs, to what I wanted my nose to look like, and they were showing me before and after pictures of their patients from the 80's. When I met Dr. Most, I immediately felt like I could trust him. He is extremely knowledgeable, kind, caring, and is really concerned about the well-being of his patients. What I especially enjoyed was that he is up-to-date with technology. At my consultation, we took pictures of what my nose looked like, and we were able to morph them on his computer so that I could get an idea of what my nose would look like after surgery. Unlike the other surgeons I had met, Dr. Most let me give my opinions about how I wanted to look and we would exchange ideas back and forth until we came up with something that was both visually pleasing and realistic of what my actual results could be. Beyond that, his office staff is the friendliest and most supportive that I have ever met. I tell everyone that Dr. Most is a MIRACLE-WORKER. I always felt that it was such a huge responsibility to take someone's face in your hands and alter it. Not only that, but you must be extremely patient, disciplined, and skillful with your hands, and Dr. Most is all of that. This to me, equals an extraordinarily talented surgeon. His educational background and previous experience is out of this world...there is something to be said about a surgeon who has become the Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery at Stanford at such a young age. There is a certain sense of confidence that a patient gets when knowing that you are in the best hands possible. My surgery went extremely well. I was done in three hours, spent an hour in recovery, and I was on my way home. When I say Dr. Most cares about his patients, he truly goes above and beyond to make them happy. Dr. Most knew how important it was for me to have a tip to my nose, because it was very flat before. It was something that we had talked about a lot. When Dr. Most came out of my surgery, he told my mother that he spent a great deal of time on perfecting the tip of my nose because he knew and remembered how important it was to me. That truly meant the world to me, and it really is a reflection of wonderful he is. When I came out of surgery, I just had some splints in my nose and a little cast-like material to cover my nose. I BARELY had any bruising, just some swelling for a day or two after my surgery..which is NOTHING compared to other friends of mine that had had a rhinoplasty done by other surgeons. I know someone who still had bruising under her eyes for a month after her surgery! The best part is, I love how natural looking my nose is, I love how the tip turned out, and most people can't even tell that I had anything done! I get comments about how good I look, but people can't exactly pinpoint why..which is great, because I still feel like me and that was something that was very important to me. I can also breathe a million times better, which has made my life so much easier. If you are considering rhinoplasty, I urge you to see Dr. Most. Dr. Most is an extremely talented surgeon. After extensive research, I am so incredibly grateful to have found him after TWO bad Rhinoplasty procedures. He performed my THIRD, and very COMPLICATED revision last month and less than 6 weeks out I am overwhelmed with relief that I finally entrusted my face to the best person for the job. He does not over promise and under deliver. If anything, I have a better than anticipated result. He creates a beautiful nose that is aesthetically balanced and suits the patient. Well, this is how :) And sometimes in some situations it's not the procedure, but the actual person/patient themselves who is not a good candidate for surgery and that is very evident after reading a couple of these random 'off' and inaccurate reviews. Besides my utmost gratitude and admiration for Dr. Most, I'd also like to thank Dr. Sanan for his excellent level of care, Amy for all of her help with appointments and paperwork, as well as RN's Mia and Khang. Mia was SO wonderful answering the many (many!) pre and post operative questions I had for her, being available when I needed to speak with her, and very informative and patient at that! She was also such a kind, calming presence on surgery day. She's a fantastic nurse. Khang, my recovery nurse, went above and beyond with her care after surgery and reminded me again of what excellent nursing truly is. She was SO patient and really took her time explaining/demonstrating post op instructions and care to my partner, kept me very comfortable after the procedure, and even wheeled me out to the car in a rainstorm and tucked me into the front seat with blankets making sure I was just right. I felt truly cared for by the entire team every step of the way. If you are thinking about choosing Dr. Most, you will be more than glad that you did. A few years ago, my eyelids became increasingly droopy and adversely affected my already compromised vision. It made me a prime candidate for blepharoplasty surgery. Happy with my appearance for most of my life, initially, that was all I was planning to do. But that changed once I found the right plastic surgeon. Before committing to a professional in any field, I consider research important. That holds even more true when it comes to medical specialists, not to mention plastic and reconstructive surgeons whom I view in a category all of their own. Beyond their expert medical training, they have to be talented and superior sculptors as well. Aspects of the latter start with an understanding what facial bone structure/distinctive attributes are key to a person's unique appearance, and then knowing how these features can be enhanced in a subtle manner. At least, that is what my objective was and what I hoped for. And finally, the big step, forming/sculpting during surgery while simultaneously calculating the changes that come with healing. Most sculptors in the art world would not be up to such a challenge. My search for the right surgeon took a while. But it ultimately led right back to Stanford where I have been a patient for close to three decades, also continuing to appreciate my other specialists there immensely. Meeting Dr. Most was a pleasure. Charming, kind and professional, he made clear from the very beginning what he could and could not do. As I did not want it to be apparent that I had plastic surgery, talking with him, and seeing before and after photos of his patients gave me the comfort level to literally put my face into his hands. As the surgery date came closer, my Blood Pressure was very high. Dr. Most told me that he would not operate until it was down to normal levels. He also required other tests to make certain I was physically fit for surgery. While disappointed that surgery had to be postponed, my respect for him only grew. No doubt, this level of professionalism and caring combined with his extraordinary surgical talents also explain why he has earned the respect of his peers, and the position as Chief of Stanford Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, one of the finest teaching hospitals in the world. TL;DR - Dr. Most performed surgery on my lower eyelid to correct an ectropion (basically, a pull on the lower eyelid that exposes the inner eyelid), and I'm happy to say that the ectropion has been fixed completely giving me perfect symmetry! Some background: I ended up with this condition a while back due to a botched surgery (different surgeon, different hospital). Also, I have skin grafts on my face due to a previous burn injury. I really wanted my surgeon to understand how a 'lift' near the eye would pull on the skin on the rest of my face since my face is taut from the previous surgeries. I didn't want to end up with a new pull while trying to fix the old one. After a lot of research, I shortlisted a few plastic surgeons in the Bay area. To my surprise, I found a few of them didn't even know what condition I was referring to when I mentioned ectropion. Dr. Most and his staff, however, were very welcoming and knowledgeable. They knew exactly what I was describing when I called and set up my initial consult. I had the opportunity to ask him a lot of questions during my consult to understand exactly what he planned to do so I could ensure that this procedure wouldn't cause any new conditions. The surgery was very well managed. Dr. Most and his assistants were very responsive during my recovery after surgery. My caregiver had a question and his assistant passed it on it him and we received a call back with an answer within a half-hour of our call. The stitches came off about a week later and I could see right away how amazing my eye was staring to look! Dr. Most explained to me when he expected the swelling to completely subside and the initial scarring from the surgery to go away. After about 8 months, I can say that the initial scarring is almost completely gone, and the eyes are in perfect symmetry! He has encouraged me to reach out to him with any questions I can think of. I'm so happy with the results. Dr. Most is a genius! Back when I was in high school I had a nose job. The doctor at the time got rid of the hump but told me that he would leave the rest of it alone because "a man should have a strong nose". Haha. That was 1985. Well I'm 49 now and I had been unhappy with my nose for a very long time. It was crooked and the tip drooped down toward my mouth. I also had a small cleft at the tip. The airway passage on the right was practically non-existent. I thought for sure it would be impossible to fix. Given the complexity, the fear of it turning out even worse had kept me from doing anything about it all these years. I was worried that it would not turn out looking natural. Also, due to the previous doctor's comment, I was worried that my nose would look too small for my face. I still wanted a strong nose/profile and hence wanted a change that would look very natural with my face. I then read about how Dr. Most had fixed several bad nose jobs successfully. It gave me the courage to go for it. Well, I had it done! I should have had Dr. Most do the surgery years ago!! It is perfect. It looks 100% natural and the change was just enough to make a real positive difference in my appearance, while at the same time not being so obvious. Everyone is telling me how GREAT! I look lately. I had surgery with Dr. Most in February. I have wanted rhinoplasty since I was a teenager and had had multiple consultations with doctors. Let me tell you, Dr. Most is the absolute best. With my other consultations, it was a hard sell, they hardly asked any clarifying questions and seemed intent on just trying to dazzle with me their accolades and get me under the knife. What struck me right away about Dr. Most was my very first consultation with him. He told me "if you are looking for a Hollywood nosejob, I am not your doctor. My goal is always to make the person look like a better version of themselves and enhance, not change their face." This really stuck out to me because he seemed so confident in his ability that he didn't need to sell me on anything, and I have a lot of respect for a person who would rather turn away a potential patient who is trying to do something that will cause dissatisfaction rather than simply take their money. His staff is incredible, always friendly with a smile on their faces. They went above and beyond calling me post surgery and periodically afterwards to make sure I was ok! Dr. Most's beside manner is also fantastic, he is incredibly kind and takes time to really listen to your concerns and have an honest discussion about what he can and can't do. Please remember, most people comment about something when they feel they have had a bad experience, but the majority of people who have an incredible experience never take the time to leave their reviews. I am a professional model and actress, so my appearance is of the utmost importance and he did such an incredible yet subtle job that I have been right back to work 3 weeks out of surgery. Where do I start? To make a long story short I had an awful looking big nose and I had a lot of trouble breathing since my injuries when I was little. I am now 16 and after seeing so many doctors throughout my life and being told my nose is too severe and that they can't fix it until I was referred to Dr. Most. The moment I talked to him and told him my story, he was very understanding and tried to help me the most. I felt very safe and totally trusted him right away. As a 16 year old​, you would imagine I would be very anxious and nervous to go into operation but with Dr. Most,​ I felt very safe and knew that everything was going to be okay no doubt. Also,​ the team around Dr. Most is ​amazing and very helpful and comforting. My surgery took more hours than it should because Dr. Most wanted to make sure all the little details are taken care off and that everything was perfect. I could not be more thankful for that and if that doesn't show how good of a doctor he is I don't know what does. After my surgery,​ the recovery was not painful what so ever but it was uncomfortable the first week. I only got swollen but no pain even without painkillers​. After my cast was off, my nose was pretty swollen but it faded after two weeks and it still is. The results were amazing, I am so satisfied with the results. Everybody was so shocked with the results including me because I had such a bad nose no one expected me to get the results I did with only one surgery. I rarely ever write Yelp reviews but for Dr. Most I had too. I have wanted rhinoplasty ever since I was 14 years old and had it done at the age of 22. I have been to many consultations with surgeons but never felt fully comfortable with the work of those doctors. It wasn't until I met Doctor Most and saw a few of his previous surgery photos that I knew he is in an elite class of his own. Most plastic surgeons I have seen often only fix your dorsal hump. Doctor Most does much more than that. He alters your nose to perfectly fit the symmetry of your face. I had a dorsal hump, a pudgy nasal tip and too much cartilage on my columella (the part underneath the tip of your nose). He was able to fix all that and truly change the appearance of my face for the better. My nose is defined, straight and overall looks perfect to me. I don't have one complaint. I also had a chin implant surgery at the same time. The implant is small enough that it maintains the femininity of my face. My boyfriend doesn't even know that I had the chin implant done but he is constantly complimenting how beautiful I am these days. Ha ha. The surgery was an easy process. 3 hours surgery. Little to no pain. Cast off in a week. It looked beautiful and narrow when he took off the cast. It swelled up a little after the cast removal for a few days and subsided again. My swelling is very minimal and I think it is due to how gentle and precise Dr. Most hands are. Now my mom wants to get her nose done too because mine looks so good. It's safe to say Dr. Most will be our family surgeon and I won't recommend or go to anyone else other than him! Though I'm heavily influenced by user reviews to influence my purchasing decisions I've never personally felt the need to leave one. Dr. Most will be the exception. I'm a late 20's male that broke my nose about 9 years ago playing basketball. Shortly after the incident I received a functional rhinoplasty by a local ENT surgeon. Displeased with the outcome, I sought a revision by the same surgeon which unfortunately resulted in an even worse look characterized by a flat, under-projected nose. Fast forward a few years and I finally decided to take one last stab at it. This time I literally scoured the nation looking for an expert in revision rhinoplasty that could fix my nose and achieve the subtle and "unoperated" look. I went to numerous doctors in LA, New York, Dallas, and San Francisco but ultimately chose Dr. Most for a handful of reasons which I'll list here. 1) Dr. Most felt more like he was performing open-heart surgery than he was performing an aesthetic rhinoplasty. His attention to detail, genuine concern, and overall thoroughness during the pre-op sessions were unmatched. 2) The preoperative computer imaging was completely realistic and actually changed quite a bit throughout the process due to my input. Other surgeons looked like they slapped Blake Lively's nose on my face and called it a day. 3) He's just an all around good dude that I can tell truly cared about my wellbeing. To wrap this review up, the result was amazing! I'm thrilled with the outcome and finally have my self-confidence back. The nose actually looks much better than the pre-op images that were generated. I have had a phenomenal overall experience with Dr. Most and his team. I have broken my nose a few times over the years playing sports, and finally was referred to Dr. Most. During my consultation, he explained the procedure in detail as we went through my concerns and made me feel very comfortable. After the consultation, I must have sent at least 20 emails to Amy from Dr. Most's team for follow up questions and scheduling options. Amy responded to all my emails in detail and even made herself available to talk over the phone to get my all questions answered. After seeing a few doctors, I felt most comfortable with Dr. Most and his team and flew from my home to California so that he could do the surgery. After my surgery, my recovery period was amazing. With my previous surgeries, I had a substantial amount of bruising and bleeding post-surgery, so this is what I was expecting going into this surgery. After this surgery with Dr. Most I barely had any swelling, no bruising on my face at all, and I could tell an improvement in my breathing immediately. Once my cast came off I could not have been happier with the results. I could tell that Dr. Most had listened to the concerns I had during my consultation, and was very detail oriented. Above all, I still looked like me! I felt like the adjustments that were made were specific to me and Dr. Most paid close attention to how the changes would look on my face. Thanks to Dr. Most and his team my breathing is better and I have more confidence in the appearance and symmetry of my nose. I recently had three sections of my nose removed due to basal and squamous cell carcinomas. My Mohs surgeon and plastic surgeon did not agree on which procedure to use to repair my nose, and they were a team. This had me nervous, so I consulted my cousin who I know chose his training diligently, and to be with the best in the field. He is an excellent plastic surgeon (across the country), and said to me, "you don't choose the procedure, you choose a surgeon." He also happened to know one surgeon in Calif. he would trust to do an excellent job, and that is Dr. Sam Most. So I did my own research and my confidence grew. Dr. Most's training is extensive. He also trains experts on his methods. His level of skill is beyond the understanding of anatomy, physiology and plastics. He has years of practice and his mastery could be likened to an art. I could see him thinking as he evaluated my nose and he shared his thoughts explaining what he advised. He is brilliant, warm hearted, and knows what he is doing. I was confident that I was in the right hands. My surgery had to be completed in two stages. Every visit, 2 pre-ops, 2 surgeries, and twice for taking stitches, Dr. Most and his team were professional, compassionate, and knowledgable every step of the way. I felt so relaxed. They had me prepared with pain meds, but I never took one after either surgery. I was amazed at how invisible the seams of my new nose were. I even attended my 40th high school reunion 4 days after the second set of stitches were removed. YES! I did. I'd say, "It's your lucky day, if Dr. Most is the one doing your surgery." read more

I spent a little over a year seeing different plastic surgeons and cosmetic dermatlogists seeking information about which procedures would benefit me most & why. I received many contradictory recommendations and researched each one, reading patient reports and as much information as I could find. Dr. Most's recommendations were conservative, but not ultra-conservative. He recommended an upper & lower bleph, and a subcutaneous forehead lift. He removed extra skin while doing the lower bleph (rather that a transconjuctival) and the results were FANTASTIC. My Mom picked me up post-op and thought I had had a facelift as well because the temporal aspect of the forehead lift did so much to benefit my midface region as well. I have slightly asian looking eyes and Dr. Most preserved that while also removing all the extra skin and sag. I have acne scarring on the midcheek area, and the temporal forehead lift addressed that shockingly well. I looked better post-op - with all the sutures and bruising and swelling - than I did when I walked in. I look a good ten years younger if not more, yet I still look exactly like me. Me, rested. Me, in my mid-30s. I actually cried when I got home from the surgery because I was so happy with the result. Throw in a fantastic support staff, great before and after care, the nicest people you will ever meet, and you have Dr. Most and his practice at Stanford. I had been weeping and suffering for 3 (long) years: my eyelids got much older that I was. They sagged and filled with a pond of tears that overflowed at the slightest emotions, e.g. while teaching my physiology classes to freshmen. Hong Kong and China -where i work- do not enjoy the clean air of the SF Bay area and my misery was getting unbearable. I called for an appointment with Dr. Sam Most: he was...IN HONG KONG! But he saw me within hours after returning, with one of his assistant. The whole experience was P-E-R-F-E-C-T: from the professional & smiling receptionists, to the coordinator, the nurses, and obviously to Dr. Most. I did experience some personal health problems, but was assisted in controlling them, and was rescheduled for my surgery with utmost courtesy, efficiency, and an ever-smiling staff. The anesthesiologist asked me about the music I wanted to hear; the surgery (local anesthesia) went on very comfortably (for 3 hours). I was back to my desk & computer 2 hours later and needed just one dose of pain-controller. The follow-up was outstanding. 9 days later I was working -as the Chinese do- 20/24 in HK & Shenzhen without any of the troubles I had experienced 3 months earlier. This was a life-changing experience for me. I was/am not interested in looking decades younger: I was/am interested in feeling fine; Dr. Most and his team provided that at a 200% level. Dr. Sam Most is an fantastic doctor who is a Board Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Stanford University School of Medicine. I have had a problem breathing out of my nose due to an injury I had as a child. I went to another Reconstructive Surgeon in the area over 10 years ago to correct the problem but was greatly disappointed with the result. I have suffered from Sleep Apnea for the past 25 years, but have been unable until now to use the CPAP machine at night to get deep sleep. I almost gave up trying to fix my nose until I met Dr. Most who was highly recommended to me by several other doctors. I was extremely impressed with Dr. Most and his staff when I first met them. They did a thorough examination on my nose and assured me that my nose was definitely fixable. In fact, Dr. Most felt that when my diviated septum was corrected it would automatically straighten the shape of my nose at the same time. I then agreed to have the surgery. The surgery was painless and the recovery was easy. Best of all I could actually breathe though my nose. As an added bonus my nose looks terrific. It's the best think on my face now. I only wish I could make the rest of my face look as good. I can't say enough kind things about Dr. Most. He is such a perfectionist and a very kind man. My wife and I have nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Most (and his entire team) for his skill, gracious bedside manner, availability, and support over the last two years. In December of 2011, I required facial reconstructive surgery following treatment for an invasive cancer which required the removal of a large portion of the right side of my nose. With reassuring calm, Dr. Most took his time explaining the various reconstructive options he might have to use once the surgery began, so that we would be mentally prepared for the outcome. Dr. Most had to do the most extensive reconstruction we had discussed, requiring two separate surgeries. I had the first surgery just before Christmas. It lasted nearly four hours. Having extensive facial surgery is very tough emotionally. Not only do you hurt, but you look awful and when you look in the mirror you wonder if you ever are going to be right again. Dr. Most has made himself completely available over the last two years (especially over the Christmas and New Year's holiday right after my surgery) to see me or to answer simple questions. Dr. Most has been concerned not only about the reconstruction, but he also made sure that I was doing OK. Dr. Most's skills are exceptional -unless someone looks very closely they cannot tell I had surgery. Dr Most performed a blepharoplasty on both the top and bottom of my eyelids about a year ago. I am very pleased with the result of his work. My eyes look so natural that people doesn't even know I had the surgery. The upper lid no longer sagged and the bottom lid is flat. People kept asking if I just came back from a vacation because I looked so refreshed. I was very nervous when I decided to do both of my eyelids. I did not want to have the swollen eyelid look of some Asian women who went through the procedure. I searched for a long time for the oerfect surgeon and accidentally read an article on Blepharoplasty by Dr Most, a chief surgeon at the Head and Neck surgery at Stanford. I made a consultation visit with Dr Most and felt that this man can do the job. The surgery was done at Stanford by Dr. Most, assisted by an anesthesiologist, a fellow, and a nurse. I felt very safe. The down time was about 2 or 3 days. I felt no pain and after a week, I can tell that my eyes will be very nice. I am very happy every morning when I look in the mirror and feel lucky to have found Dr Most. He is such a skillful surgeon, always professional and very gentle and happy looking. I noticed other reviews mentioning his office staff being "cold" and having a "poor bedside manner" - that's an understatement. I called Dr. Most's office to try and schedule a consultation, letting them know that my ENT at El Camino health had recommended I call as he's "the best" for a septorhinoplasty procedure. His receptionist on the phone was incredibly rude and belittling. After keeping me on hold for 32 minutes, she picks up - "Sorry, Sir" she said, "I shouldn't even be speaking to you without a formal referral form in front of me" I replied, "No problem, should I ask my ENT at El Camino to submit one?" She responds, "Yes, go ahead and do that, I have to take another call, goodbye". After a formal referral had been submitted for a week, I call again. Same receptionist, same hold time, same tone, same utter lack of interest in being any help to their prospective patients. After my 30+ minute hold time, she picks up "Mr. Helf, we're not taking on any new patients right now, you'll need to go somewhere else". I went to Dr. Most for the first time 2yrs ago after a bad experience with Botox at skin spirit. I was able to book my appointment quickly with a time slot that worked for me. I was greeted when I arrive by a friendly receptionist at the front desk who offered me a drink. When it was time for my appointment his assistant and aesthetician Monica escorted me back and explained how the appointment would go. She made sure I was comfortable and prepared for meeting with Dr. Most. When Dr. Most arrived he went over the areas that needed to be treated and he made me feel like I was involved in the process. He was very professional, kind and respectful. He listened to me and answered all my questions. He was able to find a solution to fix the problem with the bad Botox that I had received at Skin spirit. Shockingly he didn't try to up sell me on anything. I even asked about rhinoplasty (just curious) and he told me I wasn't a candidate. I was so happy with the results, that I have been going to him ever since for my treatments. I have always had a great experience when going to see Dr. Most and his team. I highly recommend him. I was just there last week and I absolutely LOVE my Botox. My amazing experience on my nose surgery at Stanford on Nov. 10, 2017 (8 days ago) with Dr. Most & his team started with going to surgery room without noticing a thing and when I opened my eye, I was breathing through my both nostrils. This was a very pleasant surprise to see the result of my surgery with breathing so well. Without much bruises except a small line under my right eye which was eliminated quickly using ice packs on my eyes and forehead, taking normal extra strength Tylenol to avoid constipation, I went through recovery so easily. I believe Dr. Most is one the best and skillful surgeons to be able to transform my deviated septum & twisted nose through septoplasty, rhinoplasty repair valve stenosis, bilateral turbinate sub-mucous resection, septal cartilage graft and cosmetic rhinoplasty to what I call it a masterpiece so I could breathe instantly after surgery through my nose to this date and having a straight and gorgeous nose. Now, I don't have to be worry about my nose getting pressurized and bothering me during meetings, conferences, traveling or while sleeping.
