A few procedures that went well but one that went horribly wrong and when I went back to talk about my feelings ( which I did with the PA while waiting) in hopes of trying to find a win win resolution ) they made me wait in a room for an hour and then came back in ( PHys Asst NOT Dr Newman) to tell me he could NOT see me that day at all. Btw, I have permanent damage that cannot be repaired nor was it offered. Wow. I had spent a sizable amount of money there over 4-5 years and did NOT deserve this type of experience including : Lipo, eyelift, injectables, etc. Be careful and know your recourse if you are NOT happy with your result. read more

I had the noninvasive Vanquish fat burning procedure. Based on my experience, Dr. Newman is a pleasant individual. He quickly gauged my level of understanding about the procedure and did not waste time telling me things he felt I already knew. I work in the tech field so I completely understood the mechanics behind a resonant RF frequency used in the fat burning process. He also talked a little bit about other options and the pros and cons. The staff was very polite and friendly. Lisa is the first person I spoke with. She puts the "sweet" in "heart". Dr. Newman's assistant, Windy, is beyond attentive, professional, and charming. As stated earlier, she was very meticulous in the placement of the RF transmitter over my torso. Although I am former military and don't break easily, she frequently expressed concern for my comfort as she adjusted the table I was laying on for maximum exposure and efficiency. She stayed with me the entire time. You can hear the passion in her voice when discussing health related topics. Bottom line, although I was simply one of hundreds of patients they see over time, they made me feel like I mattered from the moment I called to inquire about the procedure. I did not feel like I was a face in the crowd waiting for someone to call out "Next!" DETAILS: I am a 6'1 approx 210 pounds male. I used to exercise regularly and was basically born with a six pack I still have today (to a slightly lesser degree). I have not worked out in just over three years. However, my previous decades of dedication to fitness has helped me retain some definition. Additionally, I take high quality vitamins on a daily basis, which support my hormone levels and metabolism. I developed love handles and a slight pouch as I aged and stopped working out. From the rear you can see the small spare tire (or love handles) I began to carry. I decided to be proactive and researched various options excluding liposuction. Initially Cool Sculpting caught my eye about a year ago. I viewed this as a viable option at the time and decided to wait until after I relocated to my new state and got settled into my new job to pursue it further. A year after the move I began looking into options again and came across Vanquish Me. I work in the tech industry so the science of Vanquish made sense and looked even less invasive than Cool Sculpting. Additionally, a much larger area is treated in one sitting. A few days ago I went in for my first Vanquish session. The day before the procedure, I purchased a gallon of water and drank about 100 of the 128 ounces, which is nearly half of my numerical body weight. They took excellent care of me throughout the process. I pointed out to the doctor my concerns about the width of my waist and the machine not hitting the back area. They addressed my concerns by conducting a session with me laying on my back for a time Then they turned me over on my stomach for additional time. Windy oversaw the procedure and was a great conversationalist during the entire session. She was also extremely meticulous in the placement of the device, which I definitely appreciate. She often inquired if the heat felt even and she kept an eye on the equipment. As the energy penetrated it felt like an electric blanket on a low-to-medium setting. When the session ended Windy suggested I massage the areas, drink plenty of fluids, and exercise or take a brisk walk. I did. After just one session my stomach is noticeably flatter and my love handles are smaller. Best of all the skin around these areas is tighter. I couldn't believe the quick results and found myself grabbing my sides and midsection throughout the rest of the evening just to ensure I was not imagining this. I still have more fat to treat but I am very pleased with the outcome thus far. I think flipping me over for additional time made a difference versus treating the areas from the front only. Also, being in residual decent shape from my previous workout activity likely played a role as most of my unwanted fat is subcutaneous, not visceral. After seeing these results I ordered a "Sweet Sweat" waist trimmer belt on Amazon. I intend to exercise in it to augment this process. I may mention this to the Doctor's office as an item they might consider selling, giving, or suggesting to their patients. Suggest not to wear it for two days before a session as it dehydrates the midsection via sweat. I am scheduled to have a total of three sessions. I think I will only have two, take a one or two month break, then come back for one or two additional sessions. I will ask the doctor his thoughts. I think this is the most pragmatic approach. CON: The day after the first session. I felt a very light sensation around the treated area. Not pain, but almost like a slight itch or tingle under my skin. Nothing major. I have been seeing Dr. Newman for about the past 10 plus years now for botox injections. He has always given me a fair deal and done exactly what I wanted as far as taking care of the wrinkles on my forehead, crow's feet, fine lines under my eyes and my squint lines. The treatment is often painless and he knows exactly where to stick the needles. I have been to other doctors to have this procedure done with far-less seamless results and have had issues with the actual procedure and pain level. Dr. Newman is the best! I recently noticed dark areas under my eyes (loss of collagen and blood flow), as well as numerous wrinkles directly under both eyes, increased freckles and some light sun damage on my face. Dr. Newman recommended CO2 laser treatment for my entire face and I decided to do this treatment in May of this year. Well, the procedure was somewhat painful and the downtime and pain after the treatment lasted for about two days. His staff reminded me of these results several times so I was very aware of what I was getting into. I was absolutely amazed about the change in my face and skin three days after the procedure! I basically had a new face with no scarring or burns. All of my freckles and sun damage were gone and there were no signs of wrinkles anywhere! Dr. Newman also called a couple of times to check on my progress during the healing. That was very thoughtful and most doctors do not take time to personally call the patient (have their staff do this instead). All of my friends and family are amazed by the results. I am three months out of this procedure and my skin is still building new collagen and looks fantastic. It literally knocked ten years off of my face! I highly recommend Dr. Newman. My first experience with Dr Newman was for UPPER eyelid surgery to remove bags.(50 years old at this time) It seemed OK until the swelling went down and I realized he didn't do a very good job removing the extra skin on the upper lids. (which was the purpose to begin with) I knew I would have to talk with him about this concern. (Note: Premier Plastic Surgery, and Dr James NEWMAN are the same business, offices in PALO ALTO, and SAN MATEO) Another problem that came up, was , he (his assistant) doesn't remove the stitches,(NOT a nurse) and she LEFT TWO stitches in that then continue to swell when by then the eyes should have been almost without swelling. I didn't realize it until a few weeks later when I went back In (not for followup but because my intuition said there was something VERY WRONG.) So, he (YES I INSISTED ON HIM THIS TIME) finally found the stitch (which now had somewhat healed OVER THE STITCH, so was very painful to find and remove and then had to HEAL AGAIN) all, because in my opinion, because he is trying to save money (hence profit) not having to do this "followup" stuff himself. (he gets too much per hour to bother with this "small" stuff is my take on it) BLAH BLAH Profit Profit Profit, not customer care. Anyway, I decided to give him another chance, and negotiated to have him RE-DO the top lids again, and had the bottom lids done in tandem (he gave me 50% off the upper). This was a better experience, but still, I had to pay for him to re-do work he had already "under" done. Still, since he was so HIGHLY recommended by a dear friend, I thought perhaps I was just being "overly" critical. Now I know that's not true. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Next, he had a "pilot" program for "lip" implants, which I felt "lucky" to get into, NO CHARGE to me, local Foster City developer of the implant, and free followup so the company could get FDA approval. What a nightmare, my lips were UNEVEN, and looked UNNATURAL, big time. People kept asking me what was wrong with my lips. EMBARASSING, since I work in corporate outside sales. After 5 months, I asked him to REMOVE them. He was pissed off, asked me to reconsider (this would affect his study, and since he was a PARTNER in the business, would not help his FDA Approval) Anyway, he agreed, and frankly, when he put them in, he made cuts in the sides of my lips where the upper and lower lips meet, to hide the scars. When he took them out, he was RUSHED, pulled them out from the CENTER of my lips, which HURT alot more, and left me with a PERMANENT SCAR on my cupid bow in the CEnter of my LIP. NOT VERY NICE Doctor Newman. I made an appointment after a few months to discuss my "concerns", (I was specific with him assistant about my "issues" and not only did he leave me in the room for 40 minutes without BOTHERING to come in, his "assistant" came in after that and said "He can't see you at all today". I left after that, and NEVER RETURNED. I have hesitated to write anything about him, but after 2 years, I think every woman has a right to know how he treated me. read more

He thought it was a great idea.. This was a long sad experience. This implant was a mess from the beginning and things only got worse. I don't want to see anyone else have the awful result that I experienced. I'm an older woman that knows good work vs shabby work. His work is not quality work at all. I'm thinking of taking him to court on this matter, we will see. In the end, didn't take Dr. Newman to court.....many friends thought I should have followed through. Dr. Newman is a caring surgeon, which is important. He has a very good bedside manner and is genuinely interested in his patient's wellbeing. I've been treated by him for Sculptra in my temples and jawline. Originally, I was only interested in the temple area, however Dr.Newman suggested that I fill along my jawline for more definition. I'm very happy he made this suggestion. I had one vial several weeks ago. No bruising. And a second vial this week. Not all surgeons are skilled injectors - I have been getting injections for 18 years, and have been to many doctors. Dr. Newman is a gem! I would highly recommend him. Horrible result for vaser lipo.with Dr. James Newman. I had it for about a year now n they asked me to wait 6 months for better result n yet it didnt happen. I paid a high price but it turned out a big disappointment n money went down the drain. I didnt get all i paid for different parts for lipo but i paid the complete high price .
