Please think about this, most dentists order crowns for their patients, you'd get a temporary and return in 1 to 2 weeks for the permanent one, hoping that it fits. Dr. Halabo uses has a machine that makes the crown after precisely measuring the install area with the latest tech, there's no guessing if it fits. Dr. Halabo's quick, meticulous and efficient with his work and he's a cool guy, they have private parking and his office staff are friendly, attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Went to see Victoria for a deep cleaning on Wednesday. I get bad anxiety going to the dentist office. The entire staff made sure I was comfortable. The experience was amazing. A series of unfortunate events When I look back on my experience at Dr. Halabo's office and a year's worth of consults, exams, treatments and bills, it's hard to believe that the cracked tooth I had extracted over a year ago is still not restored. And perhaps, if said tooth was not front and center in my mouth, the multiple missteps that transpired at this office wouldn't feel so acute. Nonetheless, every time I look in the mirror, I have a gaping hole as a reminder. There are two main shortcomings that I want to highlight for potential patients to consider: 1. Questionable judgement: I am not a dental expert, but from the research I've done and in consulting with other dentists, it seems to me that a crown shouldn't be placed on a post simultaneously unless the circumstances are ideal. I have a history of grinding as well as two previous gum grafts (both conditions Dr. Halabo was made aware of) and yet the post AND a temp crown were placed on the same day. Two weeks later, the implant site became infected and the pain was nothing short of excruciating. It was another 3 months before we could attempt again, wasting more time and more money. 2. Transparency and communication: After my tooth became infected 2 weeks post surgery, on a Sunday, I was unable to get into the office to have it removed until Tuesday. On Monday, when I could no longer live with the pain, I called into the office and spoke with the front desk staff who (despite my pleading to be seen) informed me that Dr. Halabo was out of the office and wouldn't be back in until Tuesday. I am not sure what protocol is in place for this practice regarding emergencies, but in my opinion, it seemed that under no circumstances would I be able to be seen until the following day. I can only infer, that the severity of my condition was either ignored by Dr. Halabo or he never received that message from his staff. Either way, it was an agonizing experience that I won't soon forget. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Halabo for nearly 20 yrs...in fact Dr. Halabo still has my records from 1969 when Dr. Joyce was my dentist in this office. Unless I move from California..I will be a patient for another 20 yrs. Over the years I have had many dental procedures done with Dr. Halabo. He provides all the information regarding the procedure and listens to all my questions so I know what to expect. I have no insurance, but pay out of pocket and have never over paid. His staff has changed over the years, but as the client/customer I have always been treated kind and professionally. The staff and doctor are extremely kind and professional, I found them through my own research since I really have not had good experiences with dentists in the past. To be honest I HATE going to the dentist with a passion, but when I came in for my first appointment in 4.5 years since seeing a dentist at all. I was nervous, but they made me feel welcomed and comfortable, we went over what work needed to be done. They did my cleaning and I made two more appointments to replace my metal fillings I've had for over 20 years. Both visits I was extremely nervous because again I've always had terrible experiences in the past with other dentists. But this office was the exact opposite of that, they had a TV you can watch to help you feel comfortable and they are very communicative checking on you as they work on you. They also have a great sense of humor too, which I like because most dental offices are all about the money and just see you as a dollar sign. But not this office they do care about the patients and are straightforward and honest. So don't hesitate like I almost did in coming here, I almost missed out on a good dentist. (PLEASE READ UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM) Although Dr. Halabo himself is nice, I have huge issues with the admin staff at this office. My husband and I both have excellent insurance and they recommended all sorts of extra work saying it would be covered by my insurance. I agreed to go along after confirming that it would not cost us ANYTHING out of pocket, which they verbally confirmed to me before starting work. I agreed to authorize replacing my old silver fillings, etc and, after a couple of uncomfortable visits, thought it was all over. Imagine my surprise when months later I received a bill for a $500 co-pay. I called them thinking there must be some mistake as I was certain they had confirmed there would be no out of pocket. I would not have had all of this extra work done if there were. The admin person said that our insurance covered all but about $500 in charges, therefore we were on the hook for the balance. She said that when we first became patients we agreed to this as part of the sign-up process. I argued that she had misrepresented the true cost of all this work and she admitted that while she had overestimated what our insurance would cover, it ultimately fell back on me to pay the balance due. We finally got tired of arguing and we arranged to set up automatic payments over the course of two months. Naturally, the second month they didn't bother to run the payment, instead billing us another service charge and sending us a paper bill. If I can't trust them with my billing, how can I trust them with my health? Thanks to this BS, I will take myself and the other five patients in my family and find a new dentist. Dr. Halabo may have gotten his $500 out of us, but he's lost thousands in future business and referrals. I wish I could give this office zero stars for terrible customer service. If you still choose to do business here, get everything in writing. You'll be glad you did. UPDATE: After I posted this, Dr. Halabo personally called both myself and my husband and apologized for what the staff member had done. She no longer works there. More importantly, he listened to my concerns and frustration and we reached a fair solution for everyone involved. I very much respect that he took the time to do this and have revised my rating to reflect his effort to fix this. I am satisfied with the outcome and my family and I have decided to stay as clients. I'm curious what this 'horrible' experience was that JR feels the need to publicly deface such a caring and ethical doctor as Dr. Halabo. I've had a lot of dentists and Dr. Halabo and his staff have always been upfront, honest, caring, and use current technology to provide services of the highest quality! I have referred several friend's to his office and none of them have anything negative to say other than, "wow, he was great! I'm never going back to my old dentist!" So just as personal preferences for movies, restaurants, etc. vary greatly, so do the doctor preferences. You'd be a fool to deny yourself treatment from Dr. Halabo based on a single review. It's unfortunate that there have been a few patients here that have posted and I will tell you why. I LOVE DR.HALABO and his STAFF! Not only are they gentle, personable and professional, they are great at what they do. I've always been one of those people who has had a fear of the dentist. When I first visited Dr. Halabo, all those fears subsided. Yes, I've had to had work done here, but, its a whole new experience. Dr. Halabo is kind, gentle, informative and very friendly. I couldn't ask for anything else in a dentist. I can't imagine having another dentist as well, hopefully, I will never have to go anywhere else! The hygienist and dental assistants are among the most professional that I have encountered. You feel like they are old friends who care about you and your dental health. Every time that I must go to the dentist, I no longer fear getting a cleaning or any other type of examination. I know that when I go I'm being well taken care of and that I'm going to walk out of there with a feeling of fresh and clean teeth. I no longer have that nervous, scared feeling. When I know its time to go visit the dentist, I don't automatically have that feeling of nerves tickling my tummy. Instead, I have a feeling that I'm going to an office, it just happens to be a dentist office where I'll be seeing old friends, and they just happen to care just as much as I do about my oral health. Did I mention how beautiful they've made my teeth? I no longer have lead fillings, but material that matches the color of my teeth. I love looking at my teeth and love my smile. I have been going to Dr. Halabo for about 15 years now. I would never think to go elsewhere because of the spectacular work and environment I am given as a patient. The cleanliness of this office is amazing. Comparing it to other offices, I find it remarkable how inviting it is each and every time I walk in. Beginning with the welcoming greet from the receptionist, and always ending with a big, white smile walking out. The office hours are very reasonable, and they always keep up-to-date with appointments, letting me know exactly when it is time for a check up! Appointments are very flexible. The dental assistants here are amazing. They know exactly what they're doing, and prepare everything perfectly for the doctor to do the final checking. Dr. Halabo is very experienced, and you can sure tell! He makes things very easy to understand and gets the job done very efficiently. He makes sure that there is no work being done without discussing it with me, and making sure I am okay with anything that he needs to complete. Growing up, I was never happy with my teeth. As an adult now, I couldn't happier. They are as white and straight as can be! If it wasn't for Dr. Halabo's amazing work, I wouldn't be as comfortable with myself than I am now. I love Dr halabo's office. he had taken out my upper wisdom teeth and it was a snap especially compared to when my previous dentist took out my lower ones ( i wound up with an infection and pain was horrible). His office staff was great and he is the only Dr. to ever call me the evening after my extractions to check on how I was doing. I also love Shannon the hygienist. And i have recommended other family and friends to go there and they have had great experiences. I recently met Lynn, who is temporarly replacing Shannon while on maternity leave. Lynn was very noce and thorough to the last degree. She taught me a number of ways to keep the gums clean and gave me a few tools to help with that process i still can't get completely used to "Flossing". Is it me or is that the hardest thing to do daily. At first I did not believe the other reviews so I went ahead and tried his services. I was disappointed because the treatments that his staff quoted me originally changed. After a few weeks I got my treatments done, I received a statement from the mail that I owe more money because they made a mistake on the percentage my insurance pays! I mean this is just not a 20 or 50 dollars it was hundreds of dollars!!! I wish that his staff will do their job right and make sure to verify with the insurannce before giving quotes. Consumer beware! I got ripped off. I was billed the same amount as my insurance company (approximately $4,000.00 after three visits). I was awakened this morning at 4:00am with dental pain from a crown procedure done six months ago. The staff at this office tries to seduce you with smooth talk, pretending they care. All they want is your money. Don't be fooled by the doctor. He is aware of how his receptionist has been schooled. I informed my coworker who recommended this doctor that I had poor treatment. I decided to try in office whitening after viewing recent family photos. Several of my friends said the Zoom treatment made their teeth very sensitive. Dr. Halabo recommended I try a newer whitening system called Pola. Since it was the same price as Zoom I tried the Pola and my teeth are surely whiter. Dr. Halabo took extra time to protect sensitive areas and finished with a special fluoride treatment. I had only the slightest sensitivity that lasted less than one day. The level of whitening is dramatic and I am quite pleased with the results I really appreciated the fact Dr. Halabo told me what he was going to do step by step and made sure I was always comfortable. I love my whither smile and this was probably one of my best dental experiences. read more

Dr. Halabo saved me over this past weekend! I have had a crown on one of my front canines for almost 10 years now. Well on Saturday, while I was out with some friends, I bit into a cracker and suddenly felt something very hard. What did I pull out of my mouth? HALF OF MY CROWN! I immediately took a look in a mirror and my entire crown had come out. Picture a little kid who just lost one of his front teeth, minus the excitement. The real tooth fairy in this story is Dr. Halabo! I called his office line and was forwarded directly to him. When I explained to him what happened, he asked for a picture and immediately jumped into action. Since it was a holiday weekend, Dr. Halabo was heading out of town the next day and wouldn't be in the office on Monday either, he was kind enough to go into the office ON A SATURDAY and help me out by putting in a temporary until we can do a more comprehensive exam and start a permanent solution. I was completely shocked that this man was willing to stop everything he was doing on a Saturday and come in to help me out. He was able to put in a temporary crown that looks amazing! Here's an update: Instead of actually apologizing for what happened, Dr. Halabo expressed through a personal message to me 8 months ago of how upset he was of my review. F.Y.I - My house and cell number has always been the same since I left his office!!! I never received any messages! Okay, after 8 months he finally decides to respond back publicly that he tried to reach me?!?! Unbelievable!!! What's the point?! What's done is done. Its been years since I went back and everyone I've crossed paths with is aware of this experience!!! Really, instead of me wanting to go back to his office, his approach has made me want to do business elsewhere. His personal message was quite more confrontational than him sincerely asking to work things out as he did not apologize for the experience I had. Unlike other business owners that have actually taken the time to express their sincerest apologies and willingness to work things out, I did not find it worth my time to respond back to him as it was unprofessional on his part to just express his bitterness towards my review and for him to end his short and "sweet" personal note in disgust. Since then, on the brighter side, I have found a loyal dentist with superb customer service and with the experience I had at Dr. Halabo's, I'll say it's one that I would not recommend to anyone else!!! The administration at Dr Halabo's office is TERRIBLE. Please beware when receiving treatment here. I was misled, given wrong information and billed for treatments that were completely unnecessary. This resulted in a bill that was 3 times greater than I had been led to believe. For example, I was told by the Receptionist Cynthia that my insurance would pay for 2 free cleanings a year and encouraged me to book my cleaning after I was done with my treatments, which I did. Of course, it was not "free" and the cleaning ended up costing $357!?! They had added on a full periodontal exam (which I had recently had at a periodontics specialist that Dr Halabo referred me to) and a full set of x-rays. I asked why they would do the x-rays AFTER my treatments.....it makes no sense! They did not respond except to warn that the bill would go to collections if not paid. PLEASE BEWARE! read more

What????? Exactly what I thought after reading all Dr. Halabo's reviews! I have had a top notch experience from the beginning to the end every visit with Dr. Halabo and his staff. I have been going to Dr. Halabo for over ten years. Dr. Halabo, his hygienist, and his assistants are friendly, attentive and super efficient. The staff is very organized and knowledgeable. They make you feel as comfortable as possible even offering you a set of headphones and a remote with each chair having its own tv and a second screen in the ceiling. You can't even tell what is going on with the drill! The best experience that will always stand out to me is when I chipped my two front teeth and like any other person had anxiety about going out anywhere in public. I called the office the very next morning explaining the situation and they fit me in that same morning with no waiting time. Everything worked out perfect and I couldn't have been more thankful to have such a great Dentist... I genuinely feel cared for by Dr. Halabo and the staff. The office is located in an area that is easy to get to and has parking specifically for the clients only. Scheduling an appointment is easy and they work around your schedule with no problem. They call me to remind me when I am due for a cleaning, or else I'd never think to call and schedule, its perfect! I definitely recommend going to see Dr. Halabo. He will not disappoint! I have gone to Dr Halabo's for many years, so have my children. Today my youngest daughter had an exam at another dentist due to pain in a tooth that Dr. Halabo had done a filling on. She was told that when the dentist filled that tooth he didn't get all the decay before filling it and the cavity continued to grow in size under the filling. The repair to that tooth will now cost her another $450.00 after her insurance pays their part. This was not the first time this has happened to a family member at Dr. Halabo's office. I also had to stop going to Dr. Halabo, I can't afford to have my teeth fixed more than once. read more

Steer clear of this place. This guy only cares about making money not helping patients. I went in with a pain in one of my teeth and he said I needed a (restoration) which is really just a fancy name for a filling. The price was a little high but I already paid for the X-rays so I decided to do it. Just one week after he (supposedly fixed my tooth) the pain was back. I went in to see if he messed up. This guy then tells me his notes said that the root was close and I might need a root canal to relieve the pain. Why didnt he tell me this at the first visit? Because he wanted to do both procedures. So he basically admits he messed up and doesn't offer to fix it. So 600 dollars later I still have the pain I had when i went in there. I really like that Dr. Halabo takes the time to understand your needs/wants and puts a plan together to make all of that happen as quick as possible!! They have always been awesome and it genuinely made my heart sad having to leave their office. By the way, THE ONLY REASON I left their office is because I moved out of state but to be completely honest, I'd much rather spend extra money to fly back to California for appointments because they really are that awesome! After nearly 3 years and thousands of dollars worth of work done, I'm left with a less than perfect smile and chronic pain, which started after Dr. Halabo worked on the tooth and he now claims he can't find anything wrong with it. I agree with the other review about the charges. The treatment prices they quote you can change and they add on extra works without telling you in advance, so the total cost easily goes over insurance limit and you are left with an unexpected bill. I also feel the Dr is more into achieving the perfect look rather than the health of your teeth (although I didn't get the "perfect look" after all). Customer service is only good at the beginning, then service goes downhill. They also made many billing errors on my account. Overall, not recommended. read more
