What a fantastic venue tucked away on a residential street in Lincoln Park - perfect little outdoor courtyard area for the wedding ceremony and the inside has nice separate spaces for cocktails and reception. The food was truly the star here - hors doeuvre's perfect little bites but must be careful not to overdo it because the family style portions were huge! Delicious beef and amazing pasta with some sort of ricotta/spinach concoction - definitely had no room for dessert! The tiramisu was sampled and super divine. My husband and I got engaged during the pandemic so it was tough to plan around unknowns - COVID regulations, venue limitations, etc. We kept that in mind when we toured venues. I found Salvatore's on Here Comes the Bride, but have never heard of it and didn't expect to like it so much before we toured. Right away, we really liked the old school Chicago vibes - the checkered floors in the front hall, the grand piano and the dark walnut walls - and Marco was very straightforward with us when we did our initial walkthrough. We also really liked that the venue offered everything onsite - food and beverage etc. so less vendors to think through and coordinate. Throughout planning, Marco was very responsive to all our questions via email, text and calls. Marco was flexible and accommodating when we chatted through various changes and add ons - offering our signature cocktail during cocktail hour, adding cognac to our beverage list, prorating late night food options, etc. He was always willing to chat through options and I appreciated that very much. We got really great feedback on the day-of food - the apps - shrimp w/ the aioli, the stuffed mushroom caps, the prosciutto phyllo cup and the salmon potato cake were delicious. For dinner, we did the vodka pasta, the chicken vesuvio and the filet mignon and feedback was very positive. Service was attentive throughout the day - never a long line at the bar and the servers for our sweetheart table were so attentive. Beautiful wedding reception venue in an old hotel turned apartment space! Not a super huge space but still plenty of room for a mid-size wedding. The dining area and dancing area are two separate rooms. The meal is served family style per table (or at least was at the reception I attended) and was very good Italian food. They offered a cheese tortellini in a mushroom sauce I initially avoided because I despise mushrooms, but it converted myself and two others to mushroom eaters for the night, it was that good. Our uber driver was a native Chicagoan and said he never knew the place existed as he picked us up, but it's definitely worth checking out if you are holding an event. read more

We were able to plan our entire wedding start to finish in under 6 months thanks to Salvatore's. This historic venue is absolutely gorgeous and the service from their team was amazing. Suzi and Lauran made the entire planning process unbelievably easy and the day of was seamless and perfect. We knew planning a wedding in less than 6 months and without a planner was going to be crazy, but it really wasn't with Salvatore's. They are seasoned veterans in the wedding world with so much great advice to help you create the best day. And they are also totally open to accommodating whatever your vision is. GORRRRKA!!!! That's about all I remember from one of my best girl friend's wedding reception that was held here last night. I was told that "Gorka" is Russian for the word "bitter..." You yell the word "GORKA" instead of dinging your glasses to have the bride and groom kiss in order to convert something bitter to something sweet. Ya I'm still a bit confused about the whole idea but hey, it's cultural, and definitely expected at an event combining a Russian and Albanian family into one. Salvatore's Ristorante is a pleasant event space for wedding receptions and the like. It's elegant, romantic and a tad outdated or better stated, conservative in decor. My biggest concern was the limited space. The interior seemed to be made of three main rooms (east, west and central/main). The central room was used for the reception and was extremely small. The videorecorder could not roll his camera's tripod around without people relocating. The waiters had a hard time as well, even though they were probably accustomed to it. Oh and the bride! She had difficulty fitting through to visit each table to pay a visit. Even worse...The grand entrance of the bride and groom. They had to go through a labyrinth to make it to the mock alter. In the adjacent room was another wedding that seemed to be of Mediterranean descent with loud music, clapping and probably belly-dancers. Unfortunately, it masked over the sweet words shared between the bride and groom even with all the doors closed. As for the food, I have to admit that it was wonderful. We started off with a mixed greens salad topped with a light dressing and fresh, warm bread with olive oil. I had to have the veal tortellini that everyone raved about. They served a huge plate of these decadent noodle circles smothered in a thick cream sauce. I'm not quite sure if anyone finished their meal...even though out eyes and taste buds wanted to. All in all, Salvatore's is a great venue and location for a wedding reception. We had our wedding at Salvatore's in April. It was the absolute perfect venue! Salvatore's is one of the best values in the city for a wedding without sacrificing quality. The food was amazing, we continually get compliments on how good it was. We did the Extravaganza Package, which is their top package and includes everything from cake to champagne to a 5 hr premium bar. Suzi and Amra are great to work with. They are so laid back, but also super organized. This place runs like a well oiled machine. They do so many weddings and events, they really have it down to a science. The day of the wedding Suzi was attending to our every need. As soon as I walked in, she was getting me a drink, letting me know how everything was going, etc. We dropped off all our things (escort cards, pictures we wanted out, accessories, guest book, etc) a few days before. They set everything up exactly like we wanted it. They are super responsive and answer the phone when you call. I usually emailed and they got back to me within the hour most times, but definitely same day. The actual space is so beautiful. I really liked the 2 separate rooms because people who wanted to talk could sit in the other room while our band played. Overall, I would highly highly recommend Salvatore's, they went above and beyond for our event and totally exceeded our expectations. Having our reception at Salvatore's was one of the best decisions we made in our entire planning process! My husband and I were in an unusual situation, we live in TX but got married in Chicago. We had my parents go and view the space, and they fell in love instantly. They face timed us and we knew that was it, so they signed before we even saw it in person! The layout of the space is perfectly different from most wedding venues you'll find. Having the dance floor in a different room from the tables provided nice breaks for some of our older guests, or even those who just wanted a moment to step away from the party. The outdoor space is a nice addition to the already wonderful venue. The location is great, Lincoln Park is a fabulous place to get married- especially in the fall when the streets outside are STUNNING. Plus the valet parking made it extremely easy for our guests who drove. Lauran and Suzi are wonderful to work with from the start. They always answered my (numerous) emails and questions promptly, and eased so many of my worries when it came to logistics, timing, food, whatever. Having Lauran there the day of the event as well put us at ease as we knew she'd keep things moving and under control. The rest of the staff is polite, fast, and we enjoyed working with every single person we interacted with. The food... it's phenomenal. We had such a hard time deciding what options to pick because everything was so good. So many of our guests commented on how good everything was. Definitely recommend the tiramisu, we did that and had a small cake brought in from Sweet Mandy B's to cut. Not only was it delicious, but everything is sourced from Salvatore's so you don't have to worry about having ANYTHING, which was so crucial for us when it came to logistics. Both bars were very well stocked, and the bartenders were quick. As the bride, I didn't have to worry about a single thing not being done exactly the way we had asked or decided. He is a pro! Our wedding tasting was fun - for our dishes, we chose penne with vodka sauce, tortellini, and chicken vesuvio - plus the tiramisu for dessert, yum! Our guests are raving about the delicious food, the great food/drink service, and how much they loved the venue. Salvatore's has timeless charm and plenty of space for our 100 guests. Been here twice now and still think it is a nice but not spectacular event venue. The main problem is they usually book parties that are too large. This location is just off Clark Street in the Lincoln Park area. While they do act as a restaurant during the day, we have never been there for a dine-in meal...only for booked weddings. The location for a wedding is wonderful...they have an outside court where the party can take pictures...and the inside venue has two rooms. When you book a wedding you will have a cocktail reception in one room while the other is set up for dining. While you dine after the cocktail hour, they strip the cocktail room and set it up for dancing after dinner. It is a simple formula and it seems to work. We were there for a wedding approaching 200 guests and that was just too much for the venue...we were packed in like sardines. With this large group, the ambient din in the place rose to the level where you couldn't hear your neighbor...either at dinner or when schmoozing. The house bar booked for the event was efficient and up to the task...but their idea of premium scotch was Johnnie Walker Red. The food booked for the event was obviously chosen by the wedding party, and it was nice but unremarkable. There were not enough wait staff for the amount of people at our event...meaning the first people were served and it must have taken 30 minutes for the last people to catch up. This is a popular event venue, especially for weddings. If your wedding party is 125 or 100 this will be a killer place to party. If you are up by the 200 guest level, this venue is a bit small. Parking with the on-site valet was seamless...very nice addition. All in all Salvatore's tries hard and mostly succeeds. Nice place. read more

My husband and I (still getting used to saying that!) just got married at Salvatore's in mid-September. It was a dream and our guests have been raving about the venue non-stop! If you're a newly engaged couple, here's a few highlights: 1) It's PERFECT to have your both your ceremony and reception in the same space. It's also classic, old-timey Chicago flare with a very intimate, romantic feel. We started at 5pm, and extended the contract so we wrapped up at 11:30pm. We had about 150 guests and it fit this number perfectly. The ceremony space is beautifully set up, and then your guests can immediately transition to the cocktail room--from here the staff "flips" the ceremony space so it becomes the dinner reception. Brilliant! We had a lot of out-of-town family and friends who panic at navigating Chicago....problem solved. Once you arrive, you're there for the night. Valet was easy and utilized by many of our suburb friends. 2) Suzi and Lauran. You must have trust in your wedding coordinators. These women have it! They have done weddings big and small, and were spot-on their recommendations, communication, and follow-through. Most emails were responded to within hours. They were honest and forthcoming about expenses and helpful in their suggestions for décor, linens, menu, etc. They set up everything just as we discussed. The wedding day they made sure everything ran smoothly and I noticed a few extra touches here and there. Such an asset to the owners!! 3) The food! Y'all, the number one gripe I have is the same boring chicken at every wedding reception known to mankind. In contrast, Salvatore's has an amazingly delicious menu. Their tomato vodka cream sauce pasta and penne ricotta were heavenly. Every guest was a part of the clean plate club! Make sure you arrive hungry to the dinner menu tasting. We also got the late-night snack of grilled cheese and sliders...if you're having an open bar, this comes in handy for all your guests ;) 4) The dessert gets it's own line...get their homemade tiramisu ~ it's delicious! Such a fun alternative to wedding cake. At the insistence of the our Mothers, we did bring/cut a small 8" round cake from Mariano's that cost $22. Again, Salvatore's handled all the set up for this. 5) Bar service was 100%. Champagne toast was flawless. Cocktails poured right and allll night. We did the premium open bar and many of guests ordered martinis, old fashions, etc. and the bartenders were pros. When we were at the tasting, they have you taste the dinner-service red/white wine to ensure it's up to your tastes, and we even requested a different pinot noir and they accommodated this without a problem. 6) Finally, I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout-out to our awesome wedding vendors, some of whom Suzi and Lauren personally recommended: DJ Chicago (they have worked with Salvatore's a million times, and knocked it out of the park), Flowers for Dreams, Frank Bielski was our pianist, and Hannah Persson photography. Utilize the beautiful piano for the music during the ceremony, you won't regret it. We would get married at Salvatore's again in a heartbeat. Happy wedding planning!! read more

Okay, let's set the record straight. Salvatore's is STRICTLY a private event venue. They USED to be a restaurant, but no longer. Also, they have separate rooms. Is that the fault of the venue that you do not like that? Maybe you should take that up with the host/hostess of the event you attended. THEY knew the venue set up when they booked it. No bridal room? Again, that came as no surprise on the day of the wedding. Too many people for the space? Again, not the fault of the venue. It is located on a residential street, so parking can be an issue if you do not use the valet. Amanda and Suzi are a delight to work with when scheduling your event. The foyer has a grand piano, they can suggest a piano player if that is your desire. To the left and up some steps is the bar area. They will set this area up with high top tables, sitting tables, again, whatever your choice. There is a lovely patio area if you attend an event on a weather permitting day. To the right of that area is the dining area ( which puts you directly straight from the entry and up a few steps). Off to right of the entry there is another separate room if needed. Need flowers? They will suggest a florist if you are not familiar with the area. So, you tour the venue and decide to book your event. Next you attend a tasting to decide on your menu. Deciding on the menu was the hardest part of hosting an event here. Everything was delicious. It was extremely difficult to make the final selections. We chose well, as one attendee told me, " you hit this one out of the park ". Any special decorations/necessities can be dropped off on the day of the event and will be placed for you. They really make this easy. I hope you will be invited to an event here ~ or get 25 of your closest friends and go and have a great time. read more

Salvatore's is the best wedding venue in Chicago (HANDS DOWN)! I could NOT have been happier with Salvatore's for our April 29th wedding! Suzi and Lauran were fabulous to work with! They were not only AMAZING on our wedding day - the entire wedding planning process, they were very responsive, accommodating, and helpful. It was POURING rain our entire wedding day - and they handled last minute adjustments to our schedule (due to the rain) with ease! They allowed our reception to start over an hour earlier and we moved our band from the outside to inside - They made me feel so much calmer knowing that the last minute adjustments were no big deal! SO accommodating! We brought decorations for the venue and they knew exactly how to arrange everything to make the venue look so amazingly special for our day (the venue doesn't need much - because it is so special as is)! They also did a great job coordinating with the all the vendors. It is so nice to have a venue that can do it all (Food - Drinks - Venue). You don't need rentals - they have tables - chairs - linens - wait staff - day of coordinators - ETC! The food was so delicious and they were accommodating to dietary restrictions some of our guests had. We upgraded some of our entrees due to the size of our wedding (125 guests). I recommend the upgraded dishes - because they are so delish! We also opted for the tiramisu - DO IT! You will never find a wedding cake as delicious as their homemade tiramisu. This venue is really such a hidden gem! It is located in the heart of Lincoln Park - on an adorable tree lined street. The venue itself is so so special - two bars and three large (and different feeling) rooms. The flow of the whole venue just really works so well. I would highly recommend Salvatore's as a wedding venue! I could not have been happier with my wedding here! From the moment we first met with Suzi we felt a weight lift & excitement forming! Suzi graciously led us through the entire process and not once did we feel rushed, pushed or overwhelmed. The venue is absolutely breathtaking. The layout superb. The menu choices were overwhelming. (All so good it was difficult to choose!) The tasting was spectacular and the food did not disappoint!!! We were easily led through each and every detail of the wedding event, feeling that all will be well! And, even then, when the evening finally arrived, we were blown away by the effortless perfection as we witnessed our event unfold. Suzi's attention to detail is amazing! She handled the inevitable last minute changes with such grace and ease. Both her and Lauran continually kept us informed and even helped with non-venue suggestions! Choosing Salvatore's for our July wedding was by far the best decision we made- This place is incredible- classic and elegant, but also intimate and inviting. The rooms are seriously beautiful on their own, but come alive when you add your own personal touches. The staff- There are honestly no words for amazing Suzi and Lauran were in the lead up and execution of our wedding. They went above and beyond and thanks to them our wedding was everything we wanted; the set up was perfect, and it was so stress free and seamless - they are wonderful! The entire staff has such a reassuring presence, they have everything organized to perfection, and just did a remarkable job. The best part of this venue is that I didn't have to worry. I trusted their judgment on literally everything- Me not being a planner was completely overwhelmed with the details of planning the day- Salvatore's basically took the lead and allowed me to be as involved as much (or as little) as I wanted to be. They were available to answer our band's questions, show the venue to our photographer, and even made sure to order a local Kansas City beer for the groom. Oh and I forgot to mention- the food! Our guests could not stop talking about how delicious the food was. Everything from ceremony start times, to coordinating the toasts, first dances, and cake cutting- They know what they are doing- and on your wedding day the last thing your want to worry about is the details. I don't mean to offend the establishment or any one who has had that special event here, but I cannot give it more stars do to the "little buddy" who joined us at the dinner table. Our little buddy was the cockroach that had stowed away on the underside of the butter dish and ended up on our table. When my finance went to pass the butter to one of my co-workers our little buddy Mr. Cockroach bolted from under the plate, across the table and dove under the radiator... This is actually the second year that we've had our holiday party here, the food is okay at best, but the service is decent and the private dining room and bar is nice. Cleanliness in the kitchen is obviously a huge concern of mine now, and if we pick this place again for next year I may reconsider my attendance. read more

From the first meeting, we already knew that this is the place for us to celebrate our nuptials with our family. The pricing was reasonable and a hidden gem in a city that can become quite unaffordable when it comes to city weddings. The COVID-19 hit, and everyone, including my family and vendors, scrambled to adapt with the ever changing rules to keep everyone safe while still enjoying the wedding. I cannot begin to say how grateful I am for this venue and their dedicated team in ensuring that this wedding go off without a hitch. They adapted and were flexible with the changes, and priced everything reasonably despite the insanity of planning a 2020 COVID-19 wedding. They managed to make this wedding a memorable one, defined more than the restrictions of the pandemic. My husband and I had our wedding and reception at Salvatore's August 2011. We liked the location and it accommodated the smaller wedding we were having. I had anticipated giving Salvatore's a 4 or 5 star rating. Ultimately, they earned 3.5 stars. The food and waitstaff service were great. The wedding plan coordinator was severely lacking the day of the wedding. I had a "day of wedding" timeline written out with Salvatore's and the coordinator was MIA during the entire event. I saw her once when she spread out my train as I was about to walk down the aisle with my father and never again. My husband and I had to drive the timing of all the events of the day (cake cutting, first dances, packing up) with family and friends which was very stressful. The only thing that saved it was how highly organized we were. I don't mean to be overly harsh because we would get married there again if we had to do it over. We were simply very disappointed in the "day of" service of which we paid a 20% required tip plus an additional tip to the coordinator (our choice and we weren't aware of some of ball dropping until days later). It really negatively tainted what should have been a lovely and carefree day. Sadly, we haven't gotten any followup from Salvatore's to ask us how it went or to thank us for our business. After spending thousands of dollars, I think a handwritten note or even a call or email would be appropriate. read more

We had our wedding here and it was a beautiful place and the food was delicious. Suzi showed us the place initially. She was positive, warm and likable. She was not part of the wedding organization (I think she went on maternity leave) I thought for being a 'small (relatively speaking) and personal restaurant you would receive more personal service. The 20% required mandatory gratuity, (fine, of course). But to act as if it is a standard charge and not something that you receive for quality service is odd to me. I felt like our wedding inconvenienced them. I get it, brides are divas. But at least send a thank you note or a follow up e-mail. We were shooed out immediately at the end (I don't want to hang out for 2 hours, but at least be polite on the guests leaving). We went to the restaurant the next morning to pick up our flowers and they just stared at us, not even a Hello, I hope you enjoyed your wedding. Not trying to be a diva here, but for a once in a lifetime experience and when you pay a pretty penny, it is not a bad idea to add a little friendly customer service. read more

We just had our wedding here this past Friday and I highly and strongly recommend anyone who is looking to have a wedding in the city of Chicago to hold their wedding at Salvatore's. We expected to have about 120 people and Salvatore's is perfect for a wedding of that size. It is completely full service. We had our ceremony at Salvatore's as well so it made everything really easy, plus our package even came with a cake and champagne. We opted for the open bar high end liquor package and upgraded our meal entrees to add salmon. We were able to bring in our own late night snack and they laid it out for us in the front. The best part were the wedding coordinators, Suzi and Amanda. Suzi and Amanda went above and beyond. The level of their service was amazing. Right from the beginning, they were both super responsive to all of my many questions over email. I would always get a response back in a few hours, at the latest, it would one day later. They set up the table arrangements and escorts cards for us and cleaned up everything! They were both there for the entire day and even helped my MOH with my bustle...and they fluffed out my wedding dress before I walked down the aisle. The level of service just completely exceeded my expectations and I was just so floored and grateful by how helpful Suzi and Amanda are. I mean I think they were better than most wedding coordinators! Everyone raved about the food. The service was excellent, our waiters and bartenders were very friendly and hosptiable The atmosphere of Salvatore's is one of a rustic Italian restaurant, they had dark wooden walls, it sets a very romantic ambiance so hardly any decoration is needed. The place sells itself! Also, after looking at so many venues, for such a high level of service and the great food, their prices were so much more reasonable than other venues we had looked at. Take my advice, if you are a bride and groom, if you have your wedding here, you will feel so much less stressed since they handle practically everything for you. read more

My fiance and I knew we didn't want to get married in a conference room, hotel ballroom, or anywhere with sliding dividing doors - we wanted something unique and intimate and reflected the city of Chicago and Salvatore's was the PERFECT venue for our big day! First of all the price - b/c that's the first thing on your mind when you're wedding planning - the price is right at Salvatore's! We were determined to have a city wedding but the hotels were expensive as you can imagine - Salvatore's is very reasonable for the quality of service and food and the beautiful venue! Friends had told me I needed to hire a day of wedding coordinator but that's not necessary with Salvatore's - Suzi and Amra will take care of you from the moment you book throughout the event itself. Suzi was SO attentive and on it - she asked me if I was ready for my flipflops after hours of dancing, she fixed my bustle once, she arranged for my wedding party to have the passed appetizers since we missed the cocktail hour - I was SO impressed with them! I didn't have to worry about getting my presents the night of my wedding because they locked them up in their office overnight along with my bouquet and some items from our trolley. Lastly, Suzi and Amra have GREAT relationships with their vendors - everytime we'd tell our photographer, dj, etc. our venue they were very familiar with the space. The food is ridiculously good and we opted for the family style Italian - everyone raved about it and the servers would bring more platters as needed - the veal tortellini is worth the upcharge! The servers were very attentive and nice! We had an open bar for 5.5 hours and the wine, champagne, liquor options were above average for weddings I think. The venue is super cute and intimate and doesn't need too many flowers. We didn't want a 4 hour dinner - we wanted people to get out and dance so it was a great setup for our night. My sister had her wedding reception here December 6th... and the whole day especially the reception was so lovely and beautiful that I will: A) have to get married maybe 10-20 years from now just so that people either die off or have a higher probability of forgetting her gorgeous wedding & reception 2) get married in a completely polar opposite fashion, i.e. in the summer, outdoors, catered.... or maybe Vegas??????????? d) make my future fiance plan the wedding so that at least I can blame him if things go to $h!t.... But seriously I cannot imagine how any Chicago wedding could be more beautiful! Here's some highlights: the price was VERY afforable... as my sis's maid-of-honor I had a sneak peak of her frugle budget as well as the amazing accommodations Salvatore's had for any budget range... you will have a gorgeous former 20's hotel space that was converted to a romantic restaurant within the last few decades furthermore specializing in wedding receptions (it's a Ggrrrreeeat! space to say in the least)... the feeling of wedding in a large hotel room with the fake wood floors for dancing (accompanied by a some cheesy DJ) feels beyond typical (barf)... but you won't get that here as there is a beautiful bar/dancing room, a spacious L-shaped dining room (with the L-leg being the opened pasta-vino room), a corridor bar-room (pasta-vino bar), a lobby with a beautiful grand piano, an outdoor patio with seating and lighting (and you can rent heaters if it's cold), as well as an outdoor garden with a fountain (probably more enjoyable when it's warmer)... you can get lost in any room... listening to the cello-piano duet during a delicious dinner, hearing the live big jazz band jamming in the dance room (great acoustics), getting a photobooth picture in the setup next to the large bar, smoking a cigar on the patio, sipping on a hard drink (ah and the drink package was inclusive for the WHOLE NIGHT, WOWSER)...take a look at their floorplan here: http://www.salvatores-chicago.com/floorplan.html ... whatever you imagine Salvatore's will surely be accommodating to see that you have your dream wedding reception! If you want outside food here as well (aside from dinner that is... which dinner was amazing I wouldn't have opted for somewhere else if I even had the choice myself!) you can have your cake made somewhere else and bring cookies and such for your dessert table. They catered the midnight snack of grilled cheese, mini-brie-n-raspberry tortes, and meatballs and such so everybody was sure to leave full and satisfied! Best of all was AMRA... she was friggin DOLL... she made planning so lovely and sweet, even when things seemed crazy she was cool, collected, accommodating, encouraging, and proactive. For instance, I had last minute decided to play a song after my maid-of-honor speech - I gave Amra the CD and said I needed her to start playing on the cue of a particular sentence. With her sitting two rooms away, I feared maybe she'd get distracted there, maybe a chance she'd forget (it happened over an hour later after I asked!), BUT NO, she was ON CUE! Because we all know that if you play the laugh track a minute after the joke the moment could be lost! Amazingly, 75% of the room shed tears to the song I played after my speech, music PERFECTLY on cue, but I couldn't have done that without Amra in the background following through! After dinner we had 2 performances... one ballad by my brother on the piano, and another solo acoustic guitar tribute from my talented cousin. Beautiful. Not only the performances were stealing, but the way the host captured everyone's attention when different performances were going on was important for everyone to be on the same page enjoying everything. I've been to a handful of what I thought was gorgeous weddings, including one at the top of the Sears tower... but this reception venue tops any I've seen before! SoOOOsoooooo CLASSY. I still here lovely comments on how beautiful my sister's wedding was. I will need a WILD imagination to figure how I will some day top that! read more

I had my wedding here. It went so smoothly. Amra was such a help, perfect day of wedding coordinator. The outside courtyard where we had the wedding was so well groomed and everything was perfect. The food was AMAZING. All my guests loved it. Not a single word except for amazing. They use Rolf's for the wedding cake and I give them so many kudos because it was also delicious! I recently attended a wedding reception here and the venue is absolutely fantastic. The dinner was family style and we enjoyed several pasta dishes and chicken piccata. Overall the food was excellent for a wedding reception. Ohh and there were also some pretty tasty appetizers now that I'm thinking back. Delicious bruschetta and a spread of calamari so large I could swim through. The bartenders could all mix a mean manhattan and the dance floor was the perfect size for this medium size wedding crowd. The bride and groom opted for a live band which really helped bring out the charming setting of Salvatore's. I can only hope that more friends choose to have their reception here so I don't have to crash some strangers' wedding. read more

I had my wedding ceremony & reception at Salvatore's in September 2016. It was such an elegant and intimate space to host our 155 guests. Pros: - Venue Staff: Amanda (one of the venue event managers) is fantastic! - Food: Delicious (primarily pasta/Italian), but who doesn't love pasta? Veal tortellini was by far the crowd favorite. - Stress Free Planning: If you want a venue that will basically do everything for you, then this is your place! I had NO interest in researching caterers, alcohol vendors, table/chair rentals, etc. Salvatore's takes care of all of that for you! - Ambiance: Dark wood, candles, intimate, romantic & elegant! - Flexibility- Amanda was willing to work with us on just about everything...she even let my husband who is a homebrewer bring in 2 kegs of his homebrew to serve at the reception. - Alcohol: Sorry my friends & family like to drink so this was important to us. Salvatore's was the ONLY venue we found where we didn't have to pay extra for top shelf brands and a 4 hour open bar! Cons: - Separated Space: there is 1 room where you dine and another room where the reception/dancing was - Bridal Suite: Doesn't really have one, there's a space to put your stuff, but not get ready really. read more

We got married at Salvatore's this past Sunday, and it truly was the day we had always hoped it would be and more: 1) Fantastic venue - our guests are still complimenting us on our choice of ceremony and reception. 2) Amazing food - no wrong choice, but we went for the Wedding Extravaganza Package including 4 hor's douvres, individual plated dinner service including a choice of three options (do go with the fillet). The cake was included and it was from Rolf's Bakery - tasty! 3) Friendly and professional staff. We held our wedding and reception here last weekend, and, in a word, it was wonderful. From start to finish, Suzi, Amra and the rest of the Salvatore's team ensured the planning was painless and drama-free. They accommodated all our needs from flexibility around scheduling a rehearsal to leaving our crap there after the event to pick up two days later, which they had boxed up and ready to go. They have weddings and receptions down to a science there (meaning, you really don't have to worry about a thing in regards to the venue and the flow of the overall evening), but don't worry that it will feel like a cookie-cutter event. It truly felt classy and customized. And they were always up-front with costs -- no surprises. Aside from all that, the place is magical -- a perfect blend of vintage charm and classy Chicago. I came here for a Mystery Dinner held by another company. I won't talk too much about that because it has nothing to do with Salvatores except that it was held here and Salvatores served the food. The building is beautiful. It is in a beautiful location. The staff is sooo nice and accommodating. We did have one grumpy old bartender in the downstairs bar, but the other ones were nice and made up for his bad attitude. I assume he's just old and crotchety. I won't hold it against him, Life will do that to a person. The food is really good here! I was surprised! I like the design of the place, and it has a really welcoming feel and layout. I say this is a 3 - A-OK. My guests say this is a 4 - They are fans. When we first went to visit, we were generally impressed. The place requires little decoration because it is so nice inside with the mirrors and dark woods. The patio is lovely. We spent most of our time with Amra who we also generally liked. We decided to hold our ceremony here with a lunch reception and rent out all of the rooms. We put down a deposit and came in for a tasting. The food and cake were quite good. We decided to go with an open bar tab. All prices were extremely reasonable. Occasionally during planing, it was hard to get a hold of the staff. Sometimes it was tough to get the answer to a question we asked. The coordinators share one email address and I was never sure who was sending me the email and to whom I was replying. I was a little nervous about our plans being nailed down - the place obviously holds many weddings and I just wasn't convinced that the details would work out the way we had discussed. A lot of little things weren't documented or communicated well. I hired my own coordinator to handle the day-of details. I am glad that I did, because I think we had too much going on for just the Salvatore's coordinator to handle. The day of, there were a few things that bothered me. We opted to move the ceremony inside from the patio because it was raining so hard - our coordinator had a little bit of pushback from Salvatore's about this but it they finally got it done. Champagne was set out for each person (I had asked that sparkling grape juice be available because half of our guests do not drink). They asked us to cut the cake during salads, before lunch was done. The courses weren't timed well (salad took forever but main entree was short). We dropped off our stuff (programs, favors, baskets, vases, guest book, etc) the day before and Suzi questioned my fiance and opened every box inquiring about it's contents and why we were dropping it off (Amra told us it was fine to drop things off the day before). Communication seems to be a little bit off between the coordinators themselves. Most importantly, there were other people there checking the place out for their own event DURING OUR CEREMONY. I find that completely unacceptable, especially since I had provided a detailed schedule of when and how long the ceremony was. This should have been completely avoided. Additionally, the person that "called us a cab" walked up to Clark to call the cab and then rode back in it - a charge on the cab that we had to pick up. I would have just called one myself. As I stated, we opted for an open bar instead of a bar package. We were still required to pay a deposit on estimated alcohol. In the end, we had money refunded to us for this because our total was less than the "95% estimated deposit." I know this isn't a huge deal, but it meant that my dad had to go over the paperwork after the reception because we couldn't just pay a bar tab. It was just unneeded confusion. On the flip side, my guests were unaware of the problems and loved the place and the food. They thought everything went smoothly and had a good time. They thought everything was beautiful and perfect and we have had nothing but compliments since the big day. I give Salvatore's credit for only stressing/inconveniencing only me and not my guests. read more

Our decision to choose Salvatore's as our wedding location was the best decision we have made ( aside from saying "I do!" of course). From beginning to end, Lauran and Suzi were very helpful in the planning process. They took the time to field our emails, phone calls and in person meetings to ensure we felt comfortable. On the day of they were instrumental in making sure the day went smoothly. In addition to the amazing staff, Salvatore's itself was a dream venue. After doing extensive research it because clear for the value they were providing, the price was unbeatable. We received amazing reviews from our guests who raved about the food and there was never a line to get the bar. They have a wonderful atmosphere, outstanding food, and a highly experienced and professional staff. Essentially, you received 5 star treatment from a 5 star venue. Suzi & Amanda are experienced, assertive, and exceptionally friendly. They know all aspects of their venue very well. They truly function as the wedding coordinators, as hiring a 3rd party coordinator becomes excessive and truly a waste of $. If any potential brides are reading this, please trust in Suzi & Amanda, and don't waste your time or $ on any outside coordinator!!! The food as Salvatore's is truly amazing! The number of meal options in addition to the quality of food is outstanding and is far superior to most wedding venues in Chicago. I was here for my friend's wedding reception last weekend. Excellent place for a small wedding reception. They have the whole place. We first had a cocktail hours-great drinks!!! I like the little outdoor patio!! Then we had dinner in the main dining area. The food was excellent - I had the filet mignon and my bf had the salmon....they were both cooked just right! They have a separate room/area for dancing after dinner. It is just big enough for people to move around...and for people to hang out closer to the bar area. I attended a friend's wedding reception here and it was great. The ceremony was set up very nice with a simple and elegant decor. We were then moved to a cocktail room which had great, fast bar service and nice appetizers. During that time the ceremony room was transformed into the dining room and it looked fabulous. I knew I would love the place when my table already had a cup of grated parmesan waiting for me. Our servers were quick and helpful. I'm not sure on the price but I had a great time. read more
