Kiran Kamat, MD - (6) He dropped me because "you get easily upset". I was justifiably upset *a week later*, and my emotions were *caused* by his prescription.

I have been seeing Dr. Kamat for several years and he has always been kind, patient, and…read morerespectful. He has helped me tremendously with my diagnosis and treatment. And I can't thank him enough for it.

This man prescribed me Sertraline (generic Zoloft) to treat my Borderline Personality Disorder,…read morewhich can frequently make Borderline symptoms far, far worse. I was hospitalized a few months later (1/02) from S.I. perpetuated by the Sertraline. I informed him immediately, and I *quite literally* had to beg for sessions for a *week* before he met with me (01/08). I had to pay $800 at the hospital and $265 to him out of pocket that week. Within FIVE minutes of that appointment time (after having to pay another $125 - in advance this time. (NOT "customary")) he dropped me ON THE SPOT. He screened my texts and calls for two days and refused to help me get further treatment. His discharge paper read "you need a higher level of care", but he certainly didn't lift a finger to help me get it. (He still has yet to provide me with a summation of charges, as required by CA law.) I cannot stress enough how horrendously unethical it is to discharge a patient because you gave them the wrong medication... but to then give them the run-around for a week as they begged for a post-hospitalization appointment? Deplorable. I would recommend never, ever seeing this man. I am lucky that I was able to find a provider that gave me proper medication afterwards weeks later, because this man nearly cost me my life and cared so little that he literally threw me out for having a reaction to his treatment. **I had to literally ween myself off the medication without help because he wouldn't even do that** Kamat, if you're reading this - and I hope you are - *shame on you*. The trauma my wife and I had to endure following my reaction has cost us months of therapy. My wife will never forget it, and I will never forgive you for dropping me for suffering from horrible S.I. from the medication you prescribed me. I begged for your help and you threw me away. I deserved better, and so does anyone considering seeing Dr. Kiran Kamat. Do. Not. See. This. Man. The large number of negative reviews are for a reason. (edit: as a post-script, this man and his staff refuse to wear masks, as per their own yelp description. That should be enough to know that he literally doesn't care about your health.)

I booked an appointment expecting to see an actual psychiatrist at 8:00 AM. I rushed to get there on time, and since I don't have a car, getting to this appointment was difficult. Despite all of that effort, Lalita Davidoff never showed up. I waited in the office until 8:45 AM with no communication. She eventually called me, and based on the call, I highly doubt she was even in the office -- it sounded like she was at home. This was supposed to be my first appointment with her and she created an awful first impression. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed maybe she had an emergency, so I agreed to take the call. Instead, she acted as if nothing was wrong and showed no acknowledgment of how unprofessional the situation was. The only reason I agreed to continue with a phone appointment was because it took weeks just to get this appointment, and I urgently needed care. Honestly, not being seen at all would have been better. I wasted hours of my time. She was extremely cold, dismissive, and immediately started talking about putting me on medication without doing a full evaluation. After researching the medication she prescribed, I realized how inappropriate it was to recommend something that strong without ever meeting me or conducting a proper assessment. It genuinely felt unsafe. I also truly believe that after I mentioned her tardiness, she became defensive and blamed me -- even going as far as to gaslight my mental health concerns. The entire interaction was unprofessional, careless, and unacceptable. I will be reporting this provider to the medical board. No one seeking mental health care should be treated this way.

My review for Dr. Pakier was previously misreported by myself as I did not click off 5 Stars…read more I have been a patient for the past approximately 9 years. He has consistently provided outstanding, compassionate care. His professional services for me are so important because in this time in our society it is to rare to meet a physician who spends the time listening to me. The reasons I highly recommend Dr. Oscar Pakier to anyone in need are: 1) Compassion; 2) Experience; 3) Skills and 4) a working knowledge concerning prescribing the correct medicines at the correct doses to really impact my life in a very meaningful way. Sincerely, David A.

Have been going to Dr. Pakier for 3-4 years now. Like most psychiatrists seem to nowadays, 80% of…read morethe session is meds management. It seems some of the other reviewers were looking for someone to talk things out with, and they might be better off trying a couple of therapists for that. Regarding the meds, Dr. Pakier has demonstrated the ability to recognize major changes in a patient's internal state from visit to visit, ask the patient questions about how long / how often and external factors that may be causing or exacerbating the new presenting symptoms, and only then consider adjusting meds (without having to look up side affects, etc.). For me, I'm actively working on resolving behavioral issues and sometimes things get worse before they get better - he isn't thrown off by these temporary variations in the trajectory of a long change, but is still flexible enough to provide some "relief" when we both feel that a variation is significant enough to interfere with long-term improvement in a particular area. _This_ is where he shows his caring, shows that he's really paying attention. In summary, my experience is that Dr. Pakier is a solid professional who knows his business and, perhaps, is most effective when the patient is also seeing a therapist intent on ultimately reducing the patient's meds to the bare minimum over time, if not zero. Dr. Pakier supports this goal and is very willing to maintain communication with a patient's therapist so that everyone is on the same page regarding where the patient needs to "go", and how to best get them there. Would definitely recommend to family & friends - and have.
