For someone with such experience and expertise, she's extremely down-to-earth and approachable. I came to Dr. Vause at a time of change in my life (at work, with family, and in my relationships), and my stress was surging. My depression and anxiety levels were becoming hard to manage, and I was turning to drugs and alcohol to cope. Dr. Vause helped me get through it. In addition to counseling, she guided me through some challenging but needed adjustments to my medication regimen. Every med suggestion was explained clearly, Dr. Vause answered all of my questions, and I knew what to expect in terms of effects and side-effects. I never felt as if pills were just being pushed my way; she really wanted me to participate in my own treatment and understand her reasoning. Their operation is that the Dr oversees Nurse Practitioners where you literally get less than 15 minutes. Where half of the appt is rescheduling and filling meds. Their treatments have almost killed me on several occasions and their ideology is to just max you out in every med until your 300 lbs, depressed and suffering physical consequences while being as emotionally broken as ever. Avoid this practice at all costs, this is a quack operation. My biggest regret is not leaving after the first few years, and I'm glad I refused their last treatment which finally was the last straw for me because it was an especially inappropriate medication and downright dangerous for what I was in the Emergency Room for 4 days earlier. In the beginning…read moreI needed to see him more often for medication management to find what dosage worked with me as well as get a handle on my severe depression. He's a great doctor and meets all the needs for stable patients that need a check-in every couple of months. He has a lot of insight and cares about his patients BUT you need to speak up about your problems. If something isn't working, tell him and he is happy to work with you to sort out the issue. He prescribed me the 3 main medications I use to treat my anxiety/depression and was very good about checking in on how they were working. I've also recently switched insurance providers without it being a problem to keep seeing him as he is covered by several different insurance policies. The new receptionist is super nice and I've never had a problem scheduling an appointment (either with her or the previous guy). I would continue to see Dr. Kamat if it weren't for his office being too far from my new apartment.

This psychiatrist did more for me than insurance and copays could explain…read more After 5 (FIVE!) antidepressant trials over the years, battling the stigmas of "it's all in my head" or "man up!" he was willing to start me on a medicine that came with serious risks, but allowed me to live a normal... happy life! It was a long road of shame and confusion before I found a psychiatrist that was not afraid to use his full arsenal of medications. Yes. He is blunt and to the point. He has many clients. He is not a therapist. And yes, his staff is very busy so try not to not take it personal when they have a distraction or "tone" people seem to complain about. In fact, the receptionists are some of the most helpful, hardest workers I've seen in any medical office setting. Dr Ruttenberg is the best psychiatrist I have seen. Brain chemistry is NOT your fault. If you don't give up on leading a happy life, neither will he!

I'm writing this review on behalf of a patient of mine that saw Dr. Kiriakos. The patient felt…read moresuicidal and overdosed on her medication, when the client was hospitalized the nurses at that hospital stated that Dr. Kiriakos doesn't "see or condone suicidal patients" this was relayed to me later by my patient who couldn't believe that a doctor would say or think such a thing about her at a time she clearly needed help and felt abandoned and judged. I reassured my client that psychiatrists don't judge or abandon clients when these things happen. I will never ever refer Dr. Kiriakos to anyone ever.
