Located in a narrow street where there are restaurants, meat shops, fresh seafood shops, cheese stores. The interior decor is imprywith prosciutto hanging from the ceiling and stacks of cheese barrels by the high wall. As to the food, we tried royal plate which is large enough to feed 4 people in our group with variety of meat and cheese. Add Aperol spritz, it's simply the best

It's so good I had to come back twice in one week! The whole place is impressive with the aged meats and giant wheels of cheese displayed up to the ceiling. This place was featured on Stanley Tucci's "Searching for Italy" which is how I found out about it. But despite that, the place wasn't swarmed with tourists when we arrived and we were seated right away. Get the tortellino di pane, it will blow your mind. It is a crescent shaped pastry filled with melted cheese and warm mortadella. Sooo incredible, I still think about it to this day. The charcuterie board was also delicious with some of the best cold cuts, cheese, and pickled veggies I've ever had. We were given the pickled mushrooms and, I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms, but it was still pretty good. The pickled veggies are selected at random for each board so if you have a preference, let them know. The prices are incredible for the quality and the service is quick and friendly. Whenever I return to Bologna, Salumeria Simoni will be at the top of my list!

We only had Apérol Spritzes here so this review is just based on that. Salumeria Simoni is well located just off of Piazza Maggiore and is a serviceable place to get one of these famous aperitivo hour beverages in a bustling alleyway filled with plenty of options to get the same drink or plates of ham or cheeses. We'd had a couple of Spritzes in Italy at this point so had something to compare these too. These were serviceable. Decent enough though not the most generous pours or with a fruit slice or anything in them. We also didn't get a plate of the accompaniments that typically come with spritzes (olives, those round spritz crackers) so not sure if that was on oversight when we were there or if they just don't offer that at this place. Great location, decent enough spritz. Lots of options for the same within steps of this place if it doesn't strike your fancy.

Excellent cold cuts and cheese. Hit the spot for this type of meal, all speak English, price higher than expected

Amazing salumi and service. We sat down for a pre dinner snack and ended up eating and drinking a bit too much but didn't mind. Salumi platter was awesome - 4 types of cheeses and Salumi served with two bread baskets, everything was delicious. Ordered extra mortadella (we're in Bologna after all), along with bresaola. The house spritz was delicious but we had a white wine that was incredible - ended up getting a bottle after the first glass. The server was awesome, talked us through the menu and gave us recommendations and even gave us a solid recommendation for pasta for our next meal.

SO GOOD! My partner and I specifically stopped by Bologna to get a Charcuterie board and discovered this gem while researching where to go. We had also ordered what was basically a mortadella pocket which was good (the bread on the pocket was buttery like a crescent roll) but we would probably order something else next time around. Would recommend to anyone going to bologna!

FOODIE ALERT! FOODIE ALERT! This place needs to be at the top of your Bologna, Italy list. Salumeria Simoni is a must-do for pre-dinner snacks. It's located close to Piazza Maggiore along a quaint, romantic little side street. Try to sit outside if you can for more ambiance, as the high top tables spill out into the charming cobblestone street. The service is up to Italian standards: which means slow and slower. Don't come here if you're in a hurry, and plan to spend at least 90 minutes to two hours just to have an apertivo. Arrive early because this is a popular spot with locals and has been since it opened in 1960. The store serves up locally produced and farmed meats, cheeses, breads, and more. The most famous items here are a local meat plate full of Emilian cold cuts (mortadella, ciccioli, culatello, Parma ham), and a tasting flight of Parmigiano Reggiano with balsamic. We asked our waiter to bring us a sampling of the best local items they had on offer that day, and with a grin, he scurried away. The guy knocked it out of the park! He started us out with a glass of local Sangiovese (€5) and a glass of local prosecco (€4), both tasty and cheap. Next up was a foccacia with bacon and tomatoes (this wasn't that great, but it was fun to try; it was a little too "bready" for us). Then we had another local favorite, the Parma ham panini. This was a great introduction to the style of cuisine that Bologna is known for. The grand finale was a tasting flight of cheese with balsamic. My hubby isn't a cheese fan so I devoured every last morsel of this cheese. I could've keep eating cheese into the next week it was SO DELICIOUS. If you love cheese, get this item. The giant platters of cold cuts and deli meats seemed to be very popular but I'm not a fan of that type of cuisine so we didn't order that. Note that tourists are becoming wise to this place so the prices, while reasonable, are actually high compared to some of the smaller places in town (where you can get glasses of wine for less than one dollar). This is a fantastic intro to Bologna's gastronomy scene. Highly recommended.

June 24 - lunch : Perfect place to decamp after touring the center. The quality of meats and cheese is second to none. It was a busy June midday but our party of 9 managed to squeeze and encroach our way to a nice spot to get a light lunch and some libations. The young server took pains to clean up after we had a couple of mishaps with the water and spilling it all over the tables. He was diligent enough to wipe it all dry and replace the settings. The small details matter. Service was excellent and the specialty beer in the ice bucket was fantastic. If you are looking for a pit stop, this is it.

Rows of Prosciutto......it doesn't get any better. Freaking genius.

The best charcuterie? You owe yourself a trip to Emilia Romagna and to Simoni. You've never had anything so fresh and flavorful; for the products here only traveled a few miles. You are at the source for a perfect charcuterie/Salumeria (in Italia) experience. So when they cut you a piece of reggiano and culatello (the soft, moist prized part of the prosciutto), you die! I love love Salumeria Simoni. It's so good here that the cheeses and salumi platter with a glass of Sangiovese (very Emilia-Romagna), has proven to me over and over that even the simplest tastes in Emilia-Romagna are profound. There are some beautiful shoppes to sample cheeses and prosciutti all over Bologna But at Simoni, it's accessible, the service attentive, the food 2die4. For you don't need a Michelin rating to prove your viability as a global delicacy or restaurant. You are validated by generations of Italians and now this Yelper, and hope for more Yelpers. So come here asap when you arrive in Bologna and you'll get to experience what a salumeria/charcuterie is in its purest freshest. Perfection' Still salivating. Visits: 3. Yelp =1 Tip: It gets really busy but waiting patiently will give you the best plate of salumi and you'll swear you haven't had anything better. This is a locals place off the Piazza Maggiore. They also have vacuum ready packages of cheeses and hams for the viaggio home.

The food here is amazing!!!!! I am such a sucker for good charcuterie plates and this place had an amazing one. Every type of cheese served was delicious, and they ranged from hard to soft, mild to pungent. The caprese was fresh and soft. Melon and proscuitto was refreshing and also a nice change of pace from all the salty foods. Our waiter was so sweet. He would crack jokes with us, make great recommendations, and always kept us smiling. And he was cute haha. I really wish I could've gone back to this place one more time before I left Bologna. Definitely try this place if you get a chance.

This place is so touristy yet still so awesome. The servers know what they're doing, they move people in and out in a sometimes insanely-crowded street. It's an amazingly gorgeous and Insta-worthy space. And the meats are just amazing. Getting food somewhere along Via Drapperie is an absolute must in Bologna.

A cheese/ham shop turned into a stylish wine bar. Have a glass of Sangiovese and parmigiano nibbles while sitting at one of the street tables, people watching

We had one day in Bologna and wanted to taste the salumi, cheeses and wines of Emilia Romana. This was a great place to do it! They do a bustling business to a mostly Italian clientele seated at tables inside and out and also offer packaged meats and cheeses. Prices were quite reasonable and quality high for the samplers, all served with a house made bread that is also a local specialty. Finished up with a ravioli con mustardo bolognese that is not really a ravioli and has no mustard but is a sweet pastry and paired it with a glass of passito albana, a fine dessert wine made only in the local area. Perfetto!

Best charcuterie board I ever had. There mortadella was the best I ever tasted. The home made bread complimented the meat well.

They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options.
