Pricey but worth the splurge!
After failing to get a reservation for The Restaurant in the Dolder Grand, I made a booking for lunch at Saltz to celebrate a special get together with a friend.
After taking the funicular from Zurich centre, we easily found our way to the restaurant and the whole experience felt luxe from beginning to end.
The service was really good, the waiter was attentive without being pushy and all the staff was friendly. We asked for recommendations on the wine and I was super happy with the choice, one of the best bottles and food pairing I had this year.
I had the Mesclun salad, sweetbreads and truffles as a starter, minor remark: I felt that the salad dressing overpowered the delicate flavor of the truffles a bit. My friend had the wagyu carpaccio which looked decent and she liked it.
However, the main was to die for. We opted for the Grilled Bone-In Cote de Boeuf: it was cooked to perfection. The meat was super tasty and tender. The sides were the perfect accomplishment to the beef. It was comparable to a high end steakhouse.
In addition to the great food and the great service, you obviously also have the amazing atmosphere of the Dolder so I would definitely return if I have something special to celebrate. read more
