We always have a good time at Saltgrass. My husband and I have come to love this location. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food comes out hot and timely. The atmosphere is both causal but romantic so we enjoy date nights here. For food we love starting off with the fried peppers and pickles, the range rattlers (jumbo jalapenos stuffed with a whole shrimp and jack cheese, and even the queso fresco. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the appetizers. My favorite thing to get is the house salad with honey mustard dressing, and sometimes I'll get the Homemade soup of the day and Salad as my entree because you can't go wrong! When I'm feeling for a steak I love getting the Pat's ribeye. It's the family favorite and the best part is that this location always cooks it to perfection. Medium is medium and we've never had any issues with the cook. If you haven't already, make room for dessert or even take it to go! The carrot cake is SO GOOD! The difference between a 4 star and 5 star review rest solely on the kitchen and preparation. We both ordered Prime Rib. My sis went with the 12 oz, medium and I ordered the 16oz medium. Hers arrived perfectly cut but more on the "rare" side. Surprised she was ok with it. Mine arrived looking like a dry end of a slab of meat. It had to go back. The manager agreed they shouldn't be serving the "end" piece. He kindly replaced it with the perfect cut. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and tender. We both agreed that the Au Jus was watered down. The potatoes and green beans were Devine. Our waitress, Chloe was super sweet and pleasant. Tired and road weary we decided to stop and have dinner here, my Yelp friend Hannah had mentioned their happy hour deals the other day and my wife is a light eater so we ordered the beef tenderloins, sweet potato fries, salad and Pats Ribeye and finished it off with a huge piece of cheesecake we had Rosa Paloma and Old Fashion to wash it down. Our server was so nice and sweet and the Manager Megan stopped by and checked on us and we explained a little bit of our day. She really was empathetic to us and made us feel comfortable during our meal. She waived the charge on the cheesecake which was a very kind thing to do. Happy Hour on a Monday night was poppin' and for good reason! We got there at 5:30 pm, and the bar was filled up. Hours are 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. They have a few seating opposite the bar that you could also sit at. A nice server came by to take our order. Draft beers are $3 and I had two. What?! I don't drink much anymore, but it was a rough day. The happy hour snacks though is where it's at. Shrimp cocktail was fresh and the shrimp were huge. Tenderloin bites were divine on top of a bed of sautéed mushrooms and onions. You can't go wrong with brisket queso and chips. Great bang for your buck! No wonder the bar was so busy. My husband and I had an awesome experience at this particular restaurant today. Our waiter was top notch, and our food was very good also. Our waiter's name was Ron and he was excellent, adding to the end of a nice Valentine's weekend. We both enjoyed our food and left their very full. I wasn't crazy about the taste of the bread, but was thankful we had some. They had Aqua Pana for their bottled water selection, and I was absolutely thrilled, it is my favorite. We had an appetizer, onion straws, and they were good and I would give them about a four 4 . They were nicely cooked, tasted fresh, and crisp. I wasn't over the top about them, but they were good. My husband ordered the Porterhouse Steak with a salad and brussels sprouts. He said he would give it a five 5 . The steak was perfectly cooked and his brussels sprouts were incredible, I would have to agree. I'm not a brussels sprouts lover, but I sampled a couple of his and they were absolutely delectable. The next time I go, I think that's what I'll order. I got the filet mignon and would give it about a four 4, not because it wasn't cooked well, but I didn't just love the flavor of it. I did get the green beans and in all fairness, I'm not a green bean lover, so that probably wasn't a good choice for me, but with them being only 90 cal, I decided I would do that. However, I did embark on their potato soup today and it was very good! Ron even brought me a sample of it, on his own, since I was not 100% sure if I wanted it or not. After the sample came, I clearly decided and chose it. Overall, we would give our experience about a 4 1/2. We would give our waiter a five 5 and some of our food selections a five 5, while other others a little less. It was truly a wonderful dining experience and I'm so glad we went. I came here for dinner since it's near my hotel and I wanted steak. I like the decor...definitely fits the look of a Dallas steak house. Ample seating. Took a look at the menu and ordered the red fish instead since I don't think I've ever tried it. My server Shane quickly took my order which was good since I was hungry. He came out with some fresh beer bread and it was soft and tasty. Also got the chicken tortilla soup which was very hearty with lots of veggies and chicken, it also had a little spice to it which was great! The redfish was very tasty and it had a few pieces of shrimp and crabmeat as well. I got the sweet potato fries as well which was good but needed a little more sale in my opinion. It has been four years since I have been to Salt Grass and we returned while visiting family for the Holidays. We had an excellent server, whose name I believe is Sam. He was very friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed him very much. I had the Pineapple Margarita, so delicious! The table shared the fried mushrooms, which we had four years ago -- still yummy. For my main entree, I had the Shrimp Duo, and I also had the Mac N Cheese as well as the Ceasar Salad. The table shared the chocolate cake for dessert. The few TVs in the restaurant showed basketball and World Series game 1. Our waitress took care of all of our needs. We were there with a big party of 10 people. We ordered the queso with brisket and onions and the fried pickles appetizers. They were both very good. The fried pickle batter was so light, it was so good. For our order we both got the 12 oz ribeye steak prepared medium rare. I got mine with tortilla soup and sweet potato fries and my mother got it with salad and sweet potato fries. The steaks were more medium, and not the medium rare we ordered. We did not send them back and although they weren't as rare as we like, the quality of the steak was good and flavorful. It was seasoned well and melted in our mouths. Though there were a lot of people and high ceilings, it didn't seem overly loud. We had a nice meal for reasonable prices and will definitely be back for another steak meal in the future. read more

Our waiter was pretty attentive and has exceptional service. We got our drinks and food in a timely manner. For the appetizer we got the fried mushrooms. It was good, nothing special. My date got the Cajun ribeye with a baked potato. He said his steak was perfectly cooked. I got the Pat's ribeye with a baked potato. I like my steak medium and they definitely cooked my steak to perfection. I feel like the steak was lacking a little bit of seasoning. The loaded baked potato needed a little more of everything. Went here for the first time for lunch today, and I was a bit impressed, tho also a bit overwhelmed by the prices. The location is easy to get to, the building and ambience is nice. Very inviting and warm inside. I came at opening and sat a while doing office work while waiting on my lunch party to arrive about an hour later. I had the Knob Creek whiskey in a glass with one ice cube. That ice cube was HUGE!! Yet there was still a good bit of whiskey in the glass. It was $12.95, which I didn't think was to bad as far as price goes. I've seen shots of whiskey that are we less in quantity go for the same price. I had the Rib Eye today. It was very well flavored, they use a bit of salt for flavoring, that is very evident. I asked for it red inside, it came out barely pink, tho it was still somewhat juicy. Had it been cooked how I requested, it would have been amazing. The staff was good. I told the waiter I'd be waiting about an hour with my whiskey before the party arrived, I made a point to tip well for that glass to accommodate the wait. It wasn't to busy, tho at even 1/3 full, with the country music playing, it required a raised voice to carry a conversation. Experience was good. Steak was good, but it's a bit pricey. For Texas beef, where it's usually bought at its lowest rate, it was above standard cost. I can go to the Stockyards and get local steak for dollars less. Completely burned a simple burger. I am not overdoing it when I say that they totally cremated it. I took 1 bite and instantly tasted the bitterness of that burned patty. I open up the bun and it was completely burned (charred). So the server checks in with us and calls it slightly over cooked. The manager did ask me to refire the order but if this very obvious charred burger was good enough to send out to a table by whomever is putting this burger together, I am not trusting the redo either. Top that with the fact that we had to wait 45 minutes to get our order in the first place. I paid and left my Landry's card behind. Will never visit them again!
