We had to drive by Saltair to get to the Great Salt Lake State Park, so after the park, we stopped at Saltair to check it out. Online, there's a lot of history about this and several earlier versions of Saltair. We did pop inside to look around, look in the gift shop and use the restrooms. Bottom line is that we found this facility to be a little used, run down concert venue. It's past history is very rich and worth researching. Wikipedia has a good article on it.

Saltair is a music venue on the shores of the Great Salt Lake. Named after a popular resort that was built in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Company. The original resort was built around 1900 but burned down in 1925. Later on a new resort was built at the same location but it to burned down. Years later an old hangar from Wendover Air Field was moved to the site. A fake Moorish facade was added to the hangar and it became what we know today as Saltair. As a music venue Saltair is terrible. Being a converted air craft hangar the building has awful acoustics and their sound system is beyond bad. The security guards and other staff are jerks and will confiscate stupid things like Sharpie markers. Parking is free but their crappy gravel lot is riffed with pot holes, gets congested easily, and is awful to get out of after a crowded show. In summary Saltair is the absolute worst music venue in Utah. Considering how many good venus we have in Salt Lake City I don't think there is ever any reason to go here.

Definitely some mixed emotions about this venue! The view and location is out of this world! You feel like it isn't real life and the sunsets and fantastic. For a concert, I think this is the most unique venue next to Red Rocks in Colorado. With parking, they make you park over a mile and a half away (and pay!). Then, they say that they can shuttle you, but one school bus shuttle and 4,000 people do not work well. Luckily, I squished on the bus to get to the venue and ran the mile and a half on the road after the concert with hundreds of others back to the parking lot. Looking back on it, probably an extremely dangerous idea, but the shuttles were stuck and could not move anywhere. Also, the venue is disorganized and not run well. There are no cohesive or consistent lines to enter, especially for big events. And workers are always confused and have to ask superiors for help with assisting people. I kept hearing others' frustrations around me. Overall though, the view and venue are beautiful in location.

Middle of nowhere. check. Gravel and dirt pay parking. check. Big venue with average sound. check. One of the few venues that brings EDM artists. check. i don't necessarily love the saltair but I also don't hate it.. It seems like I make it out to this venue several times a year due to the artists that play here. The sound at the venue is pretty good and there's a balcony area for 21 and over that gives you a good view of the stage. Lines are usually not too long unless its an unusually big artist playing here. Best bet is to leave 15 minutes early from the concert to avoid waiting in the parking lot to leave.

This is one of my favorite places to shoot photography sessions at! Love parking here and walking down towards the salt lake. The landscape makes for beautifully epic photos! The building is super cool too. Never been for a concert though. Photos by Nicole Hart Photography in Salt Lake City.

I love This Venue. It's perfect for music. I went to work A Day To Remember/ PApa Roach. Show February of 2018. The show was sold out and the crowds mad it impossible to make it upstairs to the 21+ bar. The security and staff are always so helpful and accommodating. Parking is simple. If you are coming from SLC be prepared for traffic. .

The moment I stepped outside of the venue and was standing at the second level--I can see the beautiful mountains and salt flats. I'm a big fan of nature and sunsets, so this experience was surreal and eerie. The sounds of the music and being able to see the crowd was amazing. I spent more time outdoors than I did indoors. No issues with ticketing, restrooms and ordering drinks. They were moving pretty fast. I can't comment on parking since we took a party bus to the venue, but the drive-in and drop off wasn't complicated. The building itself has this "moorish" influence exterior, but not all original from what I understood. Still a bit vintage, unique and cool looking. The inside is an open space. I don't recall any seating. Mainly a standup setting with two levels. I look forward to coming back to this venue again this year to experience it different seasons/time.

Getting there was a little rough. I came in from the mountain corridor side, and it was a very slow moving line to get in, so I'd plan on getting there early. Because I was a little later, I ended up in the Camry lot. This lot is up a hill so the walk back was a hike, but because of its location, it does allow for a quick getaway instead of being stuck in the lower closer lots waiting for the people to walk through and for all the other cars. Even with the long walk, I got out of the venue before most people and was able to quickly get back on the Mountain View corridor. The amphitheater itself is stunning. I love the general admission grass section. The views of the city and sunset were beautiful. Amazing vibes. The security here is INTENSE about bags. I had a small clutch which is allowed and they look out EVERYTHING that I had in it. Like she literally went through every single pocket. The food options are extremely limited and it is a Pepsi venue. I needed to eat so I got a Pepsi zero (they only had Diet Pepsi in one fridge and it was for a line that didn't sell food) and a personal size pepperoni pizza and it came out to THIRTY DOLLARS??? You're joking. The pizza was just okay. The people in front of me got two tall cans of liquid death water and it was $16. A tall can of water for $8 on a hot night is criminal, but I guess they can do what they want since there is no other option. Overall, I would recommend going to a show here. The vibes are super fun and everyone was dancing. The views are beautiful and the grassy section is lovely. I would just recommend eating beforehand and planning to spend a lot if you do end up buying any food or beverages. Oh and of course Pitbull was amazing and totally killed it.

The smell was overwhelming-like dead fish--and after about a mile of walking, things went downhill fast. My husband and I both started sinking into the mud, nearly to our knees. It was a horrible feeling, and getting unstuck was messy and stressful. By the time we freed ourselves, our shoes and legs were completely drenched in smelly, muddy water, and we still had to walk about a mile back like that. When we asked at the welcome center where we could rinse off, they told us to use the showers near the bathrooms--but those required a code we hadn't been given. After some effort, we eventually got access, but we were uncomfortable and smelly the entire time. If not for that mishap, the stop would have been more enjoyable. On the positive side, it is pet-friendly, and the views from the shoreline were worth a few quick photos. Just be very cautious if you plan to walk near the water's edge.
