To be honest, I have been trying to have this culinary experience for months. I won a gift card at an event in the spring and was so excited to try them out. They are located in the Radisson hotel. Please note that they are closed on Sundays and some holidays. So, today was the day! I had lunch on Veterans Day. I was excited they were open. First, The Good: 1) I was greeted by Andi/Sandy as soon as I walked in although she was helping other patrons at another table. She was holding down the restaurant all by herself with five parties. Bravo beautiful! 2) SALT + KO has tons of seating options from cozy fireside chairs, couches, high top and regular tables and the bar. They also have a private room. The restaurant also has a DJ stand and dance area. They have a schedule of nightly events Monday - Saturday. My lunch selection was their Shrimp Po' Boy and their 4 Cheese Mac & Cheese. They were both delicious. I had enough of the Truffle Mac to take home for later. Now, The Bad: 1) It was 63 degrees in the restaurant. I sat right by the thermostat. 2) They were out of several things on the menu. I really wanted to try the sautéed broccolini. 3) The prices that were charged on the check were a few dollars higher than the price on the menu. I let it slide because my gift card was covering most of my bill. Please update your menu prices. It matters. Thank you. S + K is available for dining, events and catering.

The food is flavorful and cooked well, the service was great. The owner is very personable and friendly, and we felt very taken care of. The space feels a little large, but it is modern and clean, and has some really cute little loungey areas; one seating area with a couch is near a fireplace, and it's really cute over there. The bar is lit nicely. For drinks, we had the owner's recommendation, which is called "bath water." Inspired by Salt Burn, this cocktail was made with a smoky mezcal and coconut water, rimmed with coconut shavings. It was smoky and sweet and tasty. I also had a basic vodka soda, and it was a nice pour. I do wish they had a selection of signature drinks, but if you know what you like, they've got you covered. For food, I had the lamb chops and green beans, and my friend ordered the salmon, green beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was seasoned very nicely and cooked well; the zip sauce was really yummy on the lambies. Both of us really enjoyed the green beans which come with carmelized onions on top, and were a standout side, where at many restaurants I feel like they're either under or over-cooked and lack any flavor. Mashed potatoes were good. I was excited to hear that they'll be trying more specials coming up soon; I'd love to see what they come up with because their catering is so good. I think this is an ideal place for lunch right now; if I worked in Southfield, I'd be here more often, as there aren't too many places like it. It would also be great for happy hour. I will say that I think the lighting was a bit too bright for dinner; I'd suggest they dim those lights. We were also there during the transition from dinner to R&B night on a Saturday night, and that time between 9 and 10:30 is a little odd - seating is removed, lounge furniture is brought in, and a DJ sets up and begins to play music. I think it would be ideal if they broke the space up a bit with more permanent soft seating, but I imagine the logistics are tough going from lunch all the way to late night. I do love that they have a big dance floor - this would be a great place to have a birthday party, and it looks like some promoters are packing the place out for events. I'd love to see that continue. Overall, a good experience, and I'd love to try one of their nightlife parties.

The food was delicious and the drinks were heavenly, especially my lavender lemon drop( my new signature drink) and to the prima server/waitress Andy!! We love her!! Can't wait to have another Andy shot!! . I'll be returning real soon Monica S.

The Food was great. the drinks are delicious and I loved that they had vegan options for my friend who joined me.

So it was a little quieter than usual which I didn't mind. The server was kind and attentive. The smoked old fashioned was delicious despite not having the large ice cube. The sliders, truffle fries, and fried biscuit were also delicious even when the leftovers were heated days later at home. Always a great choice no matter the occasion.

The music was actually so loud it was hard to catch up with my friend. I wasn't aware of how cozy the spot was. We weren't allowed to sit next to each other (understandably so, the seats are designed for two/four people to sit across from each other like normal) so that made it easiest to just quiet up and listen to the music. I have no problem with that, the singer was great! The waitress was kind for even checking with the manager to see if we could adjust the seating arrangement. I had to ask lol I had the fried salmon bites, very salty but good flavor. Oh, and one of the two bathroom stalls wouldn't close but luckily girl code helped us stay secure! This spot is a hidden gem especially for those who appreciate a very intimate live music performance, when they have it. I'd like to try more of the food.

I really wanted to love The Franklin, but unfortunately the experience missed the mark…read more We arrived at 4:00 p.m. on a Saturday and were the only party in the restaurant for quite some time. The waitress was abrasive from the start and immediately informed us that there was a time limit on our table. Looking back, that's actually pretty comical, considering the restaurant ended up taking far longer than their own stated limit to serve us. We were there celebrating our friend's baby sprinkle and hoped for a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon. Instead, the service was painfully slow. Drinks took an exceptionally long time to arrive, and the wait for our meals was even longer. The delays were so significant that one member of our group eventually had to leave before fully enjoying the gathering. Had the service been friendlier and more attentive, the long waits may have been easier to overlook. But between the abrasive welcome, the slow pace, and the overall lackluster experience, our celebration felt more frustrating than enjoyable. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially because I was genuinely excited to try The Franklin. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to expectations, and it's not somewhere I'll be rushing back to.

From Retro Bliss to Corporate Miss - 1Up's New Management Hits Rock Bottom…read more.. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 1Up Arcade Bar, once my go-to haven for arcade nostalgia and friendly vibes, has devolved into a shell of its former self. Under the new management, the experience has gone from retro joy to something resembling a garish corporate money pit. If you're looking to relive the good old days of arcade glory, consider this your neon-lit warning sign to stay far, far away. First off, the bartenders. Remember last year when 1Up's bartenders were warm, cheerful, and chatty, making you feel like you were part of the family? Well, those days are deader than my high score on Pac-Man. The new bartenders treat you with the exact enthusiasm you'd expect from someone waiting at the DMV. Ordering a drink here feels like you've personally interrupted their day--and heaven forbid you ask any questions about the menu. Smiles? Gone. Friendly banter? Vanished. You're left standing there with your overpriced, uninspired drink wondering if you've wandered into a soulless high-end cocktail bar by mistake. Ah, the drinks. Once playful and creative masterpieces that added to 1Up's charm, they've been replaced with pretentious, unimaginative concoctions that scream, "We're fancy now; please empty your wallet." No fun, no spirit (pun intended), just overpriced disappointments. At their current price point, I half expected the drink to come with complimentary resentment from the staff. And don't get me started on the arcade machines. Gone are the iconic retro classics that made me feel like I'd stepped back into the golden age of arcades. Instead, the place is now stuffed with bright, flashy, wallet-draining horrors you'd find at a Dave and Buster's. What happened to the charm? The authenticity? Now it's just a playground for toddlers with no attention spans and those who value flashing lights over actual gameplay. Speaking of, if you're a Gen Z-er armed with your parents' credit card and an inability to go three seconds without dopamine overload, this place might actually be a dream come true for you. The rest of us? Not so much. Look, 1Up Arcade Bar used to be a gem, but now it feels like a soulless cash grab. Don't come here hoping for a genuine arcade bar experience because you'll leave disappointed--and poorer. Save your time, save your money, and spare yourself the heartbreak of seeing what this place has become. RIP, old 1Up. You are sorely missed.
