This gem hidden inside of the hotel is a little gem. The atmosphere and service were pretty nice. Decor is modern and very clean chic. Seats were comfortable for relaxing. The view of the city is so nice too. You also can see Canada. We went on a Wednesday for the special of the charcuterie board and champagne. Not a bad deal for what you get. We also ordered fries, lobster rolls and sliders. Fries were 10/10, lobster roll was about 7/10 and sliders 10/10. The lobster rolls weren't bad, but some of the lobster was mushy. The bread was amazing they used for it. This place is a little pricey so be aware you go. They did make me a fun mocktail since I do not drink alcohol myself (I know I was there for the special as it was my sister birthday). I would definitely go to this spot again.

*** Solid 4-star option for view + tapas. *** The custom cocktails, liquor and wine seem to satisfy everyone I was meeting with here. My 5-star food faves include the wings, crab dip, lobster rolls and salmon were excellent. Hard pass on chip/dip and the caviar bubble. All small plates. Only steak & salmon entrees. *** Valet prkg $25, yet lots is street prkg. ***

Great views of the city from this rooftop lounge! Food was good and a fully stocked bar. Most of the plates are smaller and meant to be shared. Prices are a little high but what do you expect right? Seating is not the most comfortable from the high tops of the couch seating. Will for sure come back.

This place is beautiful! The view is amazing and so relaxing. I would love to come back here in the summer. When you come inside the hotel, take the elevator to the 7th floor. Reservations are highly recommended! The kitchen closes at 1130pm. The dining area closes at 1am, but the patio is open until 2am. I'm glad I ate before coming because the menu is very limited. The drinks and food were okay. Honestly, the DJ , the wonderful service, and the ambiance are what made the night exceptional. The dj was lit on Friday night. Playing all the hits to keep the party going!

We stopped in at the I|O Rooftop Lounge at The Godfrey Hotel in Corktown on a night out. We ordered cocktails Bolivian Sunrise ($16) & Bottom of the Barrel ($19), Fries ($10), Lamb Sliders (2 for $22) and Miso Salmon Lettuce Cups (3 for $18) We both felt the cocktails were underwhelming. Drinkable, but imbalanced. The lamb sliders were good, and the miso salmon lettuce cups were delicious. The service was fine as well. As far as the ambience... it's a beautiful space and will be absolutely amazing in the summer. We both felt the music was too loud, plus there was also just as loud competing music from the room next door where it appeared a private event was being held. 2 drinks and 3 apps for $90+ seemed high to us ($10 for fries and $11 per tiny slider?!?), but this is a hotel so you know prices will reflect a premium. I wouldn't say we won't be back, but I will say there's room to improve, especially with pricing.

My first time at the IO Godfrey Lounge and it was beautiful. Not only the food and the drinks, but the view and ambiance. We shared some food--Chef's Board, Mini Lobster Rolls, Crab Dip, and BBQ burger sliders. All of food was amazing and fast; my favorite dish was the Crab Dip. Then we ended the night with Horchata mousse and lemon meringue ice cream bar which were both phenomenal. The lemon meringue ice cream bar is truly to die for. Everything tasted so fresh! Our server was excellent as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a new spot to go in the city.

I am glad I checked it out! There really is no parking, except for valet. I recommend finding street parking which can be a bit of a walk! Nice hotel, the IO Godfrey Lounge is on the 7th floor. Made a reservation which I highly recommend, it does get busy! It isn't really a rooftop, but it does have open windows which gives the feel of a rooftop. I went on a hott muggy day, and it was very very hott up there!! The staff closed the windows and thus the area became a lot cooler! The service was ok and so was the food! I had a Mocktail and it cost more than a drink with liquor in it.

Had so much fun meeting my friends up here. I loved the Chicago location so was very excited to see the Detroit one. We came on a Monday evening and got seats right by the window which was so nice. The food tasted amazing and the staff was very attentive. We ordered the Nachos, flatbread and lobster Rangoon which I highly recommend. It became very lively around 8pm with music and people coming in. Make sure to book reservations for the weekend because it does get busy.

What a spectacular night out in the city. Im usually the one who plans out experiences, so it was nice to be surprised. Effort goes a long way! The Godfrey is new to the Detroit's hotel scene. I was excited when we pulled up to the Godfrey and headed up to the rooftop cocktail lounge. The views were stunning! The lounge is quite spacious with two bars. The DJ was spinning some beats and people were getting their groove on! We had so much fun. The cocktails were great and the they offer a nice selection of small plate options. We decided on the lamb sliders and Brussel sprouts. Both dishes were very tasty. I can't wait to come back in the summer time.

This has to be one of the cutest spots in Detroit right now! The decor is gorgeous, very lounge, sleek and city vibes. It has a great view. I came to just have little snacks and drinks and sadly there wasn't any bar room but the hostess was nice enough to find us a high top table on a Friday night. The only downside to this place was the wait staff. Our waitress took a very long time to come give us water and take our order. We saw some of the staff sitting back and socializing more so than helping customers. But this didn't ruin our time at all. The drinks were really good and strong! Very large portion. We got the chicken wings which were very crispy and full of flavor. The food and drinks were tasty and made up for the staff. You have to try this place if you're looking for a nice night out with good music, drinks and food!

Spectacular views of midtown. Most certainly would revisit in the spring/summer months to experience the rooftop highlights. $72 = 3 glasses of wine and crab dip. You're there for the ambiance because I'm sure you can spend less elsewhere for the same menu items. There is no happy hour. The dip comes with potato chips and were highly recommended by server. I opted out for pita chips since I didn't like the pairing.

I had a great time at I/O. The views alone make this a must try at least once. The drinks are on the higher end, but they are good. We also had some very good food (I would have never thought I'd like beet salad.) The waitress we had was very nice and attentive without smothering.

Terrible experience. Zero hustle factor by the bar staff. We waited 25+ minutes for 1 drink. Ambiance felt like an Aloft or a brand new Holiday Inn Express. After an incredible visit to the Book - btw, to FIVE of their hospitality establishments - this was a slap in the face of what Detroit should be.

The waitresses are not good. They should consider other obligations, because service should not be what they want to do.

Ask the Community - IO Godfrey Lounge

It looks like evening reservations are for "dinner" -- should I make a reservation if we just want drinks? I don't want to miss out but also don't want to snag a dinner table if we don't want to eat there.

You don't necessarily have to make a reservation for drinks. There are two bars and seating at both. You should be just fine.

Parking options:does hotel offer any or what's nearby?

The hotel does offer valet or you can park either on the street. I'm not sure of any parking structures in the area.

What a posh, "zen" spot to experience a beautiful rooftop Detroit skyline at the Godfrey Hotel.

Parking was free on the night I visited, but I'm fairly sure that there's normally a charge. There is a coat check, which is nice. I was alone so I sat at the bar which seats about 20 in really close quarters. There are also several tables. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and salmon croquettes with potatoes and onions. The dish was served with a sort of remoulade. The croquettes were thin and slightly overcooked with crispy edges, but had good seasoning. I enjoyed the potatoes with onion. The happy hour menu is very affordable with various food items and drinks. The regular menu items are also inexpensive. A dj was spinning, which was a great. The music was appropriate for the crowd. I bopped for sure. The staff was courteous, but I did wait quite a while for my meal and my bill. One of the owners checked on me often which made me feel welcome and my patronage appropriated. I would recommend giving it a try. I will definitely return.
