So it was my birthday and we went out for a meal in Barcelona at the marina. But next door to the restaurant was Salsa Club Bcn, "The Best Salsa Club in Barcelona!". Now, I haven't been to any salsa clubs in Barcelona so I can't really compare, however, we had fun there.
The bar had decent prices and the bartenders were able to make some fun cocktails, there was a big dance floor and there was loud music.
I say music, I do not specifically say salsa music. The DJ was an interesting one - some of his transitions could be called... interesting... they could also be called "I hit play next track before the old song ended and there is a complete mismatch in styles, tempo, etc". Also the selection of music was a little interesting too, we'd get salsa, bachata, merengue... and then Spice Girls, Back Street Boys, Justin Bieber, pretty much anything popular from the last 3 decades... I guess the club does have to cater to the crowd that goes there.
That said, I and my friends had a good time, having a mixture of people both into and against salsa, this seemed to be the best compromise! I had some great dances there (seemingly not with locals, just with other tourists like me!) and a great time! read more
