I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

Love love love my hair from Steve. i have been with him for more than 10 years. I have been to well known salons in the city and I always felt disappointed because of the lack of skill and attention...as well as zero knowledge of Asian hair. what I like about this studio is that the hair stylist is experienced and knows what he's doing. I asked for subtle highlights and it looks so pretty. My hair looks naturally sun kissed and it looks really nice with outside lighting. He Gives you honest answers/suggestions. My haircut came out very nice and I didn't have to even ask for a certain style. He just cut it accordingly and I'm so happy with the overall shape of the cut. The price is very reasonable and the atmosphere of the salon is so calm and soothing. It's nice and cozy & doesn't feel overwhelming like those big salons. I'm either working or going to school so being able to relax is heavenly. I definitely recommend giving this place a try! read more

I managed to get an appointment the same day as we made the call, and that's really cool I think because I don't like waiting for too long. The salon had a really nice atmosphere and the personnel treated me really well. While some people are scared of going to the doctor or the dentist I am scared cutting my hair. Steve managed to take all my worries away at this point, because he gave me probably the nicest and coolest hairstyle I've ever had. He did the job quick and efficiently, while also providing me with a lot of great tips on how to take good care of my hair in the future. He also shared his philosophy with me on how he does his job, and it's no doubt that he's really passionate about what he's doing. I would really recommend everyone else to check out this place because I had a really good experience! read more

This is my first time at Steve's new location and it is a lot bigger than his last place. It is more open with higher ceilings, making the vibe more free, modern, and cleaner. I saw him for cut and color. I had a lighter, more ashier balayage from my last visit, and I wanted something closer to my hair color that still gave it dimension. He was super patient in choosing the right color with me. He and Lou worked on coloring my hair and walked me through the entire process so that I wasn't confused about the color that I was getting, and what was happening at each step. Steve went above and beyond to make sure the length, color, and style of my hair was everything that I imagined and expected when I went in. Every detail mattered to him and the end result that we both wanted. read more

OH MY GOD! This place by far was the best salon I have ever been to thanks to Jay the man himself…read more No I am not a close personal friend nor did anyone request this advertisement. I stumbled upon Jay's work just like any other yelp reviewer. Comparing him to others and doing my research like crazy. I have had virgin hair up until last year and like most, I get extremely scared and anxious when it comes to dying my hair. The first time I decided to change my hair color I had asked the hairstylist (another place) if I could get a full balayage. For some reason she only gave me a partial one which ended up in semi-disappointment. I didn't grow to love my hair or get compliments until 5-6 months later... Upon meeting Jay I had showed him three different pictures and told him anything in between is fine, just as long as the colors aren't too crazy and my hair remains long. He was very attentive to details and walked me through everything he did. Throughout the bleaching/hair dye process I did get a bit nervous, just bc the color got extremely platinum blonde and he started laughing. Probably bc he saw how anxious I was getting and the worry on my face. In the end I got a caramel to ashburn to blonde/silverish color and I am immensely satisfied with the result. I paid $160 for haircut and color (excluding tip) and compared to other salons that charge you $300+ that's a freaking steal! My only issue (if you even want to call it that) was that he took in 4-5 other clients while dealing with me so it pushed back my time a bit, but that's understandable since I was going to be there for awhile anyways. I would 100% recommend Jay to all my friends and future yelpers who are reading this right now. Trust the process!!

I was looking for a spot that is reasonably priced and has good reviews. I did a walk-in on a Friday ( I know, silly me), but I easily made an appointment for the following Monday. Jason and his assistant did a wonderful job with my cut and color - I LOVE IT. It feels healthy and lighter. Jason took the time to examine my hair and brought out a color palette to ensure I picked the right color. He asked all the right questions and made me feel comfortable. Overall, the staff here is great, and I highly recommend Techni to anyone looking for a good cut, color, and blow-dry.

She was very professional and gave recommendations that were well balanced with what I wanted while still keeping my hair healthy. For example, I wanted to keep the length and I like my hair to look full at the back, she recommended a ~1 inch trim to keep it healthy and actually help it look more full. I wanted more of a loose curling iron/blowout look with the perm and she was honest about what kind of styling I would have to do at home to get the look I want. The photo is what it looks like right after getting home from the salon after Soomi styled it by blow drying while twirling it, which is exactly the vibe I wanted.
