I got my hair cut at Salon Zen Aveda in Mercato and let me tell you... this place is legit. The moment you walk in, it looks like a spa and a high-end art gallery had a beautiful baby. Super clean, super stylish, and somehow still one of the most comfortable places I've ever sat in while someone came at me with scissors. The whole staff is friendly and welcoming, but my girl Ang? Absolute rockstar. She's the kind of stylist who can hold a conversation about literally anything -- and I mean anything. Half the fun is the haircut, the other half is wondering what wild topic we're going to end up talking about next. She keeps you laughing, keeps you relaxed, and then somehow sends you out the door looking ten times better than when you walked in. I swear, Ang could cut your hair blindfolded and it would still come out perfect... though for legal reasons I'm glad she doesn't test that theory. Naples deserves better! Bridgett thinks she is great, but really she has a bad attitude and over inflated opinion of her work. Tip: get some new training for yourself. The wonderful stylist I went to for a year or so recently left. When I was in her chair other customers would comment on how wonderful my hair color was. She had an eye for blonde & she was an expert! Salon Zen Aveda placed me with a stylist by the name of Bridgett or Brittany. No personality. No talent that I witnessed. She took what was beautiful blonde highlights and turned them into ugly, brassy, blended into my hair strands of dull off color. She (Bridgett) sucks...the next time she said I should see another stylist as her prices were going from $250 to $360 plus because she was at a higher level than the other stylist. She cannot make my hair look half as good as my great original stylist Sharon. read more

Worst experience I ever had. This was a prep for my son's wedding. Thank God I did the trial run. If I had to attend my wedding with the makeup that they applied, I would have been mortified. While the makeup was a disaster, the hair was really poor styling as well. As important of an event that I was preparing for, they rushed through my appointment and even at one time they were doing my hair and makeup at the same time. I booked with this salon months in advance. What a disappointment and an incredible amount of unnecessary stress. When I decided to change salons here in Naples, I read many reviews. And so, loving Aveda products I gravitated toward one of their salons. When making the appt. over the phone, I described my hair as requested a master stylist who might be the best for what they had to work with! (No, I'm not a fan of my fine, poker straight, thin hair!). Anyhoo, an appt. with Vildana was booked. She is so worth the extra money she commands as a master stylist at Aveda. She listened to my concerns, discussed what she thought might work best/better. My hair has a great style to it . . a style I can replicate at home. I had a highlight done on my medium length hair . The hairdresser also applied a toner . I did not get a haircut . I did not get a blow dry or a style . I left with my hair soaking wet as I was pressed for time . Cost $205.00 . I was very shocked . I also forgot you have to tip in cash which I did not have on me . So , I didn't tip . :( While my hair dresser was very nice and did an okay job .. $205??? Really ?? And that's without tip . Had I had the cut and style done I'm pretty sure this would have been at least another $50. So let's do the math . $255 plus a bottom line tip of 10% = 280.00 . This is a car payment folks . She's wonderfully patient, sweet and very detail-oriented which is a huge deal to me because I am really particular with hair color. I love the head massage they give when they wash your hair--so relaxing! The stylists are all pretty good, but my favorite so far is Karen. I was greeted with a smile and a glass of wine. Ali, my stylist, came over to greet me and made me instantly feel at ease. She took time to ask what I was looking for, what I wanted to avoid, my current routine, and the level of maintenance I was willing to pursue. From the color, cut, and holy-moly the head massage, I looked and felt like a star. After the experience, I saw a hair extension pamphlet. I had always been curious about extensions, but I wasn't sure what all it entailed. Heather, another stylist and extension EXPERT, walked me through the process, matched my hair, and we scheduled a follow up appointment. I came in the following week to get them applied and BOOM. This was my 3rd visit back to Salon Zen. I wish I would of had the experience that others have expressed. I have a color retouch and blowout and it was $120 plus 18% gratuity. I was never offered the complimentary hand and arm massage. I observed other clients who stylist asked them if they could get them anything to drink. Misty at the desk offered when I came in but Susan did not throughout my service. I really thought it was a mistake and I was charged for a haircut with my root retouch. I called the Salon after getting home to verify and was told no that Susan is a Master stylist and that the prices start at $60, so her charges were double the listed price? Wow what a nightmare. Went to the salon manager and supposedly master stylist Heather. Immediately didn't feel comfortable in her chair as she was rude and I had to repeat what I wanted several times for her to understand. I wanted a lob landing right at my collarbone slightly lifted in the back but by no means a high low. For the most part an even all around haircut. 20 minutes later and she shows me my hair. Immediately I pointed out that one side in the front was longer than the other side. She does two snips and said she fixed it. I didn't even think about the fact that she didn't show me the back of my hair. Okay I leave after paying $100 for a cut and style that had me out in 30 minutes total. I go home and it's immediately pointed out to me how bad the cut is in the back. One side is far shorter than the other and there are pieces she didn't even cut!! What an absolute nightmare. I could've had a better haircut from a student. If she's the manager I would stay far away from anyone else here. read more
