Love going to Salon U! They offer something to drink as soon as you walk in. Lindsay is so professional and personal. I never have to worry she won't be able to nail the hair color I am seeking. (I mean besides the obvious of going from dark to light in one day). She took me from drab brunette and washed out red to a vibrant chocolate brown . Now we're are working towards blonde Looking for someone on time, who listens and a great location? Make sure to book with Lindsay. It is an open floor plan concept so it can get a little loud read more

The girl I saw did not listen to me at all. I came to get my roots done and she talked me out of it and colored my hair to match my roots, even though I told her I absolutely didn't want my hair darker . In one week the tint she put on my hair washed out and I was left with dark roots again. I would like my money back. I will not go back to the salon again. read more

Libby I just love you! Had such a wonderful time and so glad I trusted her with my hair. I got quite a bit chopped which can be nerve wracking enough without trying a new hairdresser at the same time, but she is so talented and it looks great! Much love, will no doubt be back. read more

Libby was my stylist and she did everything right from asking me the right questions to killing it!! It's been 6 months since I got my hair done and she really did it so well!!!!! And her vibe, their vibe was on point throughout everythi read more

Jamie Stevens is the best hairdresser I have ever had. She's very knowledgeable and keeps up on current trends. I no longer live in Michigan, but no one comes near my hair with scissors except Jamie, I come back a few times a year! read more

Worst salon experience I have ever had. Jacqui raved about her hair coloring expertise and then she ruined by hair. It was awful, when I called back to get it corrected she refused to return my call. It took me three months using another salon to get may hair back to the way it was (albeit it was damaged by all the correcting). She also made rude comments about my age and said that when she gets to be my age she will have to get her eye brows tattooed due to thinning with age and she will have to get her lips tattooed for the same reason. I took those comments as age discriminating insults!!! read more

I wanted to get my hair lightened and toned. They said they didn't have any one who could do my hair because it was short and that I would be better off going some where else....... it sounded like the girl on the phone couldn't be bothered with trying to schedule something read more

My new stop for haircuts. Jacqui did a great job with my hair, took the time to get everything done the way I like it. Conversation was easy and everything was done for a fair price. Will definitely be going back. read more

I see Tory for highlights and I always leave happy. Since I have been coming here my hair is much healthier and seems to be growing much faster. I would highly recommend her for anyone who needs highlights. read more

I have blonde hair and went in to have my roots touched up. I had to go back afterwards for large sections that were missed. This happened two different times and I paid a lot of money each time. I do not recommend Rachel. I wasted a lot of time and money. read more

I used Salon U for my wedding, and they went out of their way to make the morning very special. Everyone was very excited, they had out a plate of muffins and fruit, and all the staff had big smiles and were very helpful. The staff was great! Nails: We had manicures and pedicures the day before the wedding (would you believe this is one of the only salons in the area with more than one pedicure chair?!). The staff was great, friendly, and easy to talk to. I will say that the manicures were just OK - and my bridal party all agreed that the manicures were not top notch. Basically, while your hands feel great, with a closer inspection I noticed my cuticles did not look that cared for. I will say my french manicure was ON and not coming off (in fact I have dipped my hands in nail polish remover and still can't get it all off!!). Makeup: WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Alyssa rocks. She was so fun and exciting to work with. I really wanted a natural look - but enhanced enough for pictures and she did a fabulous job. Hair: When they are good they are good - and when they aren't they aren't! I was blessed to have a hairdresser who knew her stuff and my hair was everything I had ever dreamed (though she was having quite the convo with another stylist about her medical concerns...). A few of the bridesmaids hair updos were not that great and did not hold well. On the way out one bridesmaid asked for a dash more of hairspray because it didn't look like it would hold, and the hairstylist just handed her a can of hairspray to do it herself. Overall a good experience - but I would bring your own ideas for your updos and be picky about who you work with. My wedding was great though and I appreciated everyone's hard work! read more

I visited this salon for a haircut with Z and it was an amazing experience! The salon was clean and had a friendly atmosphere. I told my stylist I only wanted a healthy trim and she did just that!!! She listened to what I wanted and made sure I left HAPPY. I highly recommend booking any service with Z. read more

Salon U is a great place to get a haircut and a delicious glass of water. Lisa and her staff take very good care of their patrons. I look forward to my visits because you get to know Lisa and her staff. I highly recommend salon U. read more

I have never had a good hair dresser here. Recently tried hairstylist, Rachel, she was the most inexperienced and awkward stylist I have ever encountered. Very, pricey & my hair looks the same as before I went in. read more

I tried Salon U after reading online reviews and desperately needing a salon change. It was a great experience. I have been changing my hair color and cut for many years so I feel like I know a lot when it comes to what looks good on me and what doesn't. Alyssa was awesome, took her time with me, and actually listened! She didn't act like a know it all stylist and took the time to make my first time there a great one. My favorite part was at the end when she styled my hair she gave me tips on how to do it at home - without me asking her to do so. She also didn't push products. That always makes me uncomfortable. The salon uses Bumble&Bumble - which is also a huge plus in my book. Overall if you are looking for a salon that is professional, welcoming, and current without being intimidating or uppity - this is your salon. It has a great downtown Lake Orion location, super cute decor and is very clean with an open floor plan. My haircut and color were pricey, but within going rate - not out of range. I also appreciated how Alyssa talked me through her process and pricing, which made me more comfortable as a first time client. You get what you pay for, and I will be back for sure. PS-They were advertising Shellac manicures for $25! I'm going to check that out as well. read more

Lindsey Davis is so great at cut, color and eyebrow waxing that I drive over 4 hours to get to her. Sure, it might be easier to find someone closer to where I live, but the drive doesn't even bother me because she does such a great job. I could not recommend Salon U or Lindsey more!! read more

I used Salon U for my bridal party yesterday! WOW! Just wanted to say THANK YOU to Lisa Chamberlain-Miller and ALL of the girls who work at Salon U for making my wedding morning/afternoon so stress-free for me. You were all amazing and so accommodating of us. My entire bridal party and my mom and new mum-in law were very pleased. So many wedding guests were complimenting all of the cool and different updos you did. Bravo!!! You guys set the tone for the rest of the day. I had NO stress or anxiety. Alyssa did an amazing job with my makeup as well as my mother, my mum-in-law, and 2 of my bridesmaids who got their makeup done. I even wore fake eye-lashes for the first time and I forgot they were even there. I loved my hair too. Amazing!! read more

I've been going to Salon U since it opened its doors and have been a client of Lisa Miller's for over 18 years. I drive from Birmingham to Lake Orion every 6-8 weeks for my appointments. Not only do I love the work that Lisa does on my hair but I just love the atmosphere of Salon U and the entire staff. Most people might dread spending 2.5 hours in a hair salon on a Saturday morning but I enjoy going in there and catching up with girls who make you feel like their friend. Just recently a co-worker told me that she noticed my hair in one of our executive team meetings and how well my highlights were blended compared to the other ladies in the room whose didn't look quite as nice. I thought that was a nice testament to Lisa's work. You won't be disappointed with any of the girls at Salon U. They all do good work. read more

Today was my first visit to Salon U. I am using my husband's account to write this in case you were wondering...I received an excellent haircut. It was a bit pricy $45.00. But good haircuts are expensive nowadays! I have then, straight, fine hair and Nicole did an excellent job. She was chatty and very informative on how I could style it in the future. read more

Wonderful experience. It was the first time I ever had highlights and Lindsey did an amazing job and exactly what I wanted. Everyone was friendly, there was no overwhelming chemical smell, the place was very nice and clean, price was consistent with what the rate is for a nice salon. read more

Salon U, was very organized and ready for our bridal party and family hair and make up on my daughters wedding day. The make up person made our make up define our eyes in a natural way for pictures and we were all happy with her artistry. We had a variety of hair designs and stylists, and the up-do's were fabulous! I chose to leave mine natural as it's short yet dress it up by pinning a rhinestone barrette on one side. The comfort and design of the salon is lovely. I reccommend it for bridal beauty! read more

My hair was a hot mess!! I'd had a bad dye job and tried to fix it myself more than once... Long story short, my hair was at least 5 colors with bad, stubborn roots. I needed help. I called and they fit me in that same day - on a Saturday no less! I asked for someone really good with color and they set me up with Alyse. She was so sweet - fun, easy to talk to. She mixed three different colors to set me straight and it was a lot of work, but my hair looks so, SO much better. The color is fabulous, exactly what I asked for. My hair is super shiny and healthy. The cut even looks great. I would recommend Salon U and Alyse to absolutely anyone. She did a fabulous job. Thank you, Alyse! You're a life-saver! FYI - They accept credit cards for payment, but not for tips, so bring cash for that. read more

The people working there are very nice! But, DO NOT get your eyebrows done there!! The waxed off way too much and they are uneven.

I hate writing bad reviews but this was really annoying. I went in with long hair. I just wanted a trim along the ends and I came out with a long angled bob.(lob). This was not what I asked for. I asked for a slight trim. I'm so sick about this. I thought i communicated to Jamie H, the stylist. But apparently she didn't understand. read more

i just recently received my 2nd trim here at salon U. i have to say, it's always on point. expect great shampoo treatment. if it's your time say hi to stacy the receptionist, and always ask for Lauren Brown-Brown. she's the best. by far one of the cutting-edge salon's in metro detroit. read more

Everyone here is amazing! I have gone here for years and refuse to go anywhere else! Very high end, kind staff, quality work. Would recommend to anyone! read more

I have to say that before today I heard all good things about Salon U and now not the case. I was scheduled to get my nails done with a group of girls for a friends bachelorette party. Two days ago they called to confirm our appointments and today 1 hour...yes 1 hour before our scheduled appointments they called to cancel. They said that one of their techs was sick and they were waiting to see if she would get better...As far as I am concerned, your not going to have one nail tech doing nine girls nails, so having one tech cancel is not the end of the world. Why not call us and give us the option of either cancelling the appointments or possibly reducing the number of services we are getting done. I am absolutely appalled by their customer service or there lack of. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT waste your time making an appointment that most likely will be canceled. read more

My 18 year old daughter went to Salon U for a color. Christine used A6 in her preparation. In the salon lighting the color looked acceptable. That evening when we went to a local restaurant, her hair appeared to have a gray cast to it. Under the flourescent lighting of a store, her hair was green. Mortified by the looks she garnered, we called the salon the next day. They informed her that she had to come in before closing so Christine could help her. Upon arriving, the receptionist was less than cordial, another employee other than Christine applied a toner to her hair, put her under a dryer & sent her home tangled, disheveled and still green. read more

Salon U is the best salon around. When I moved into the area, I researched what salons were in the area and researched what products they used. I am a big Bumble & Bumble fan and I see Lindsey for my hair. Bumble & Bumble supports their stylists with ongoing education and I can always count on Lindsey for her expertise and creative control. I trust her completely with my hair. In addition to being talented and knowledgeable, she is a very kind-hearted woman that is easy to talk with. I also get nail services done at Salon U. It's always so relaxing. The staff there always does their best to make you feel comfortable. read more

Terrific salon. Jackie can cut hair so it looks perfect with almost no work on my part. Just wash, dry or let dry, and go -- and it looks better than it ever has (even when I used to fuss with it endlessly). Could not possibly ask for a better stylist. read more

I found Lynde at Salon U about 2 years ago. In that time I have had several different hair colors and hair styles, I like to change things up! Lynde has given terrific recommendations, and suggestions! I have been very pleased with all of the results. I feel contemporary, in step with style when I leave Lynde and Salon U. She has great suggestions on hair products, and is constantly educating herself on new styles, cuts, and products. This really is a great place, do not expect a $20 hair cut. It will cost more than that and be worth every single penny :) read more
