I only come here for affordable eyebrow threading. It's a small local shop. It's not a fancy establishment, more like an out dated salon. They are nice people. They have a free membership that they keep track on how much you spend by keeping your information on file name/email address where you can have your receipt set to..paperless receipts on an Ipad, yes Ipad! They do a pretty good job threading and walk ins are welcomed. Try not to come here during the weekend as they get crazy busy. This is my go to place for eye brow threading. read more

I've come to this salon 10+ times over the past couple of years and have been consistently disappointed. Don't waste your time. I made a Yelp account just to write this review so hopefully I can prevent others from being disappointed as well. Twice i've gotten large rashes from having the same spot waxed over multiple times. Even non-experts know that you should never wax over the same spot twice, let alone 3-4 times. Many times I'd call ahead of time to make sure someone would be available, driven over, and then been told after 20+ min of waiting that no one could take me. And they don't value their customer's time by simply telling them to come back a different day when this happens. read more

I LOVE Salon A Rivaz...I've been coming here for three years and have always been a fan! I started coming here around the time of my wedding for eyebrow threading. Saliu is great, takes her time and Im always satisfied with my eyebrows. I also go for waxing...their prices are great and Saliu does a great job as well. They are usually always busy...except for weekday afternoons (after 3pm). Try to make an appointment if you can, because Ive waited almost 30minutes or longer during their busy times! I recently moved out to the Western burbs from the city and was looking for a good threading salon. I was very happy with my expierence here. Shilu is wonderful. Not only does she do a fabulous job, but she also has the most calming, nurturing vibe. I always leave so relaxed. In addition to threading, I've also had a scalp massage (head and neck included) with aromatic oils. It was totally rejuvenating. I highly recommend doing more than just threading. When Shilu wasn't available, I've seen Payal. She is really good too. If you are also a very busy professional/working mother, I highly recommend making an appointment. They are usually overbooked with walk-ins and there is almost always a wait. Even when you have an appointment, there can still be a 15-20 delay. It is not a fancy salon, but the prices are fair and the service is great. It is all part of the charm as long as your expecations are aligned. I personally like the laid back and authentic atmosphere. It is really comfortable, warm, and friendly. read more

I've been coming to this threading salon for years. Yesterday I had such rude experience. The lady I normally see said that she was too busy to take me and that I would have to try back at 3:30pm, mind you the phone rang and she told someone she could take them at 1:30pm... It was 1. So finally I asked when the other two threaders would be available ( since she suggested I get them done by one of them since she was busy) and the man who does hair got an attitude with me and said " can't you see they are eating give them 10 minutes." I walked out and I have no intentions of going back. This used to be my favorite threading place. My friends and family used to come as well. We all stopped. The customer service is poor. read more

I am leaving a review of Erhan, as that is the only service I use from here. If you are a guy looking for a stylist that can get you just about any look you desire, look no further than Erhan. He will take care of you, proper. Just give Erhan a photo or describe the look you want, and he will get to work. He started by cutting my hair, lining up my sides and back, and then a nice rinsing and shampoo so you don't have to worry about annoying pointy hairs on your neck. I never felt more pampered. He finishes the haircut by blowdrying and styling the hair to whatever you want. The entire thing took about 30-40 minutes, but he will not rush you as he works his magic. I went to the Westmont location prior to my cousin's wedding to get some threading done. The threading wasn't done very well, with a lot of small hairs left after the lady said she was 'done'...she acted like it was a big hassle to remove the remaining hairs! But my mistake was that I bothered to complain. The manager (I think she was the manager) acted like I was in the wrong when I complained that her employee was not being diligent enough and was trying to hustle me out of the store without completing her work to my satisfaction...the manager did not apologize at all and defended her employee. I guess it's good that the employee had her manager's support but what happened to the customer always being right? I was just looking for a quick apology! Oh, and the service was overpriced. ok ive never done this before but this was such bad business i neede you all to know....i purchased a groupon for salon rivaz and called for an appt....i toild the girl i had a groupon for a hair cut ....when i got there the girl told me that the groupon was not for a full hair cut it was for a trim.....she explained that i did not pay for a full hair cut so they could not give me one.....i looked it up on my phone and it did say full hair cut....she said she would do it this one time but she asked how i would like my hair and when i told her she said she could not do the layers because she only knew how to cut from the bottom up and it would not be the way i wanted it ......just so i know i wouldnt like it....kinda threatening....like ..by the way im gonna screw up your hair.....needless to say i left with out a hair cut....dont be swindled they dont want to honor the groupon read more

Lately Sailu has too much work and has become frumpy. She treats you like a big bag of meat that he has to skin or something. I dont blame her, everybody they hire to help her does not what they are doing. I like Sailu but she needs help and needs to treat her customers better. I am going to find another salon... read more

Don't go here! Eyebrows were NOT neat, clean, shaped, or anything else. No wonder it was empty. I used to go to the Salon Rivaz in Naperville all the time. There is one lady there that is really great, everyone always lines up and waits for her. The other people there are alright. Go to this location if you can. read more

Wow these people are so damn rude. Right when I walk in the two ladies at the front don't even greet me or let alone give me a smile and while I was waiting kept looking at me all weird. If you want people to come to your business be a little warm. I had an appointment and I came on time I was sitting for 30 min and mind you this lady walked in and without an appointment and got seated for her eyebrows. Just had my chin and neck (sensitive) threaded for the first time. I have been making my (what started out as a) FEW chin hairs worse over the years by shaving them daily or every other day. Now they have gotten very thick, and multiplied. I never used to have any. Anyway - Bakula (not sure on spelling) threaded my chin. I have never waxed, sugared or anything else. Only shaving - so I didn't know what to expect. Here are my observations: 1) Get there early (i.e. - be standing there when they open at 10.) Or MAKE AN APPOINTMENT - unless you don't mind waiting. I called at 10AM (I homeschool two boys, so I have this flexibility) to see if they could take me in 15 minutes (the amount of time it would take me to get there.) A woman named Bakula said that if I would accept anyone to thread me - then, yes, they had time in 15 minutes. When I got there - another woman was waxing someone in back. During the 20 minutes I was there (10:15-10:35 AM) two more people came in looking for the woman in back who was already occupied with someone. Since I was in the chair with Bakula and the other woman was already in the back - both women had to sit and wait. 2) Bakula was EXCELLENT. She was very thorough. She was quick. It only took 20 minutes b/c of how many hairs there were to remove- but she was clearly experienced with the thread, quick and precise in her movements. 3) For someone who has a fairly high tolerance to pain, AND a lot of COURSE hairs to be removed - this stung. I could tell exactly when she was pulling a course hair, and when she was getting peach fuzz or fine hairs. The fine or smaller hairs didn't hurt at all. If she was working in an area that had many course hairs it was tough - pain wise - until she was out of that area - and then she would give me a break - AND "PHEW" - I thought to myself. Good thing I'm made of tough stuff. "Sting" is an understatement. 4) In regards to the customers service - well - I think what we may be talking about here is largely people being comfortable within their own cultural and ethnic surroundings - whatever that is. These women who work in this shop - are comfortable with each other. They all speak the same language, and are familiar with Indian culture and tradition. Generally speaking - cultural and ethnic unity displayed by one group is usually interpreted by those outside of the group as "unfriendliness" or in this case - "poor customer service." I don't think it is meant that way. It's probably about as comfortable as they would feel if one of them walked into Mario Tricocci... Just a thought. 5) Overall - great, professional work - and I'm thrilled that I won't have to shave for at least a week or maybe more. I Having said that - I have not met the owner and can't say anything specific about the rudeness that other people have commented on. That was, most certainly, not my experience. My hope is that the pain will lessen as I continue threading - and avoid the razor - so that the hairs grow back less thick and start to decrease. We'll see. I just purchased "ThreadEASE" - the Helix Home Hair Removal System to do my own threading at home in between visits or if I just can't make it sometime... We'll see how it goes. I have been coming here for my eyebrow threading for about 5 years. Sailu is great- very precise. I used to work nearby, so I went for the convenience. I no longer work closeby and live in Chicago... any opportunity I have to stop by for a threading, I jump at it. I miss being able to come here every 2 weeks. Eyebrows cost $7 until April 1, 2008, the price went up to $8. Definitely worth it. Once I started having my eyebrows threaded years ago, I would never consider waxing. I even dragged my fiance in the last time and although he was incredibly nervous, he was really happy with the clean result. read more

I was a regular at Natasha's in the city on Devon until last year when my job moved me to Oak Brook. I was seriously stressed out because I absolutely have to get my eyebrows threaded- nothing else looks nearly as good. I have tried a few other places but no one did as good as of a job as Natasha. The stylist was clearly under qualified and repeatedly bounded the sheers off of my head, with the guards on of course but still making my head bounce. I've been going to Salon Rivaz in Naperville- - they have the same owners as the Westmont location. Sneha is great! She isn't there Tuesdays, but every other day she's available and does a great job. I regularly have my eyebrows threaded and she does a great job (and ensures that I'm happy with them). I recently started getting my underarms waxed and was pleased with that as well. Terrible service, a complete waste of time and money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The girl who did my threading did not listen to my request and she did not seem to care at all. She did my threading in such a hurry, even though there was no one else waiting. My eyebrows were uneven, and there was no arch at all. Basically, I will have to wait until my eyebrows grow out and have them redone. This was my second time at this salon. My first experience was bad, too. I don't know why I gave them a second chance. It's not a fancy salon, which is fine. But it's very unsanitary. Basic hygiene is lacking. Overall, a terrible experience. read more

I love my Silu.. she is the woman who does my threading... I've had a couple other beauticians at Rivaz thread my face, but Silu by far is the best I've had here and even when I lived in California. She went on vacation for a month or two and I waited until she came back just for her... and I sure needed my eyebrows threaded when she came back. I don't know who the new owner is, however I don't see much of a difference in management so far. The previous owner was nice but past from breast cancer, so I don't think some customers understood some of the transitions over this past year. Anyhow, if you are new to threading and are near Westmont... Silu is your woman! She gives great head massages and great basic facials too! read more

I have been coming to this salon for years and have sent all of my friends here as well. They do the best threading around, and I have converted my friends from waxing to threading, since it's so much better for your skin. I also get my Brazilian waxes done here as well. I have never had any problems and everyone is always very nice. Now if you are a prima donna who needs people falling all over you, then this is not the salon for you. The women do their jobs but they are not going to make you feel like the center of the universe-and I love that! I don't need small talk, etc. I wanna get threaded, waxed, and sent on my way. The door of this place and everywhere online it says they are open till 7. Showed up at 6:05 on a Saturday to one guy cutting someone's hair. Without even saying hi he looks over at me and says "everyone is gone already". When I asked why. He told me that although it says 7 everyone who does threading leaves at 6. It's ridiculous that in this day and age they can't update their hours (even online) as a courtesy to customers. read more

I'm not big on small talk or anything so it was just in and out which is the way I like it. It was only $8, so I thought it was really reasonable. This review is regarding their brazillian wax. Do not go here, it's HORRIBLE the tech had no clue what she was doing and it was a nightmare, not to mention she left the room with the door wide open to bring in another tech to ask her questions. Very unsanitary! They re-used waxing strips on different parts of my body. I had two people working on me (Full body Wax) and they kept giong in and out of the room. I was naked mind you! They left spots of hair and the leg portion was so painful I couldn't even finish. This was through a Groupon. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

i have been going to this place off and on for the past 15 years... have never encountered a problem... i have been to other salons across town in DG and Lombard and even Addison, but no one does a better job with eyebrows than this place. Other astheticians either mess up my eyebrow shape or they thread too hard and my skin is super sensitive. Sailaja does a great job.... she always has since she has been there and she is so sweet. Lately I have been there twice within the past 3 weeks for eyebrows. There's this new girl - long brown hair with bright blonde highlights, she did my eyebrows and damn - she can DO eyebrows... she didn't cut or tear my skin with the thread thank goodness. All i can say is this place has got it going on!!! GO HERE for your EYEBROWS!!! Go see this new chick... you won't be disappointed!!! read more

the threading is fine, but they are extremely rude. we came in here and waited for 15 minutes before anyone when acknowledged that we were here - they looked at us and knew we were here but said nothing. after that they just said "10 minutes" like no big deal no sorry we kept you waiting or anything. the threading place on 63rd and fairview treats people much better. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! READ THIS FIRST. I had been a loyal customer here for 6 years but I will not be going back. I had called recently on a saturday to go get my eyebrows threaded and asked for Salija. The girl up front told me that she was onky there until 6 so I would be her last @ 5:45. I get there @ 5:45 exactly...only to find out she had taken a wax walk-in because she didn't know if I was coming...mind you in the past 6years she has not bothered to ever ask my name. The girl walks back there and says "Salija your 5:45 is here , Salija replies Gupta? The girl says no this is your scheduled 5:45 before you told Gupta to come...she walks out and says ok 5 mins..I say ok. Its now 6pm and this Gupta lady walks in like she owns the place and announces she is here. After the wax walks out Salija comes out and tells this Gupta to sit in the middle chair. So not only does she take another unscheduled person before me but she gives that ladies grand daughter a free henna tatoo before me. I had enough..25 min and still no me. I get up and tell a coworker of hers im leaving. She says are you sure just 5 mins I said no and left. As I was driving home I called thid place out of frustration and told them how disrespectful it was of them and that I knew what was going on I heard them!! They said ok. It wasnt until I said your going on yelp did Salija call me back and apologize and say when do you want to come back? No waaiting I will drop everything and take you and it willl be free...this will be our punishment for this...I said so you are going to take me as a walk-in beforw someones appt? You people have no shame and no respect for your customers...it really is disgusting that people pay you to be treated this way. My pride and respect is not worth 8 bucks RIVAZ!!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! So I say run! had a good experience there for waxing with shailaja. next time however it was a different technican (name starts with B) and i felt she wasnt very pleasant and didnt do a great job. with her I also experience the same issue other people mentioned that she seemed to reuse the same strip forever so the hair broke instead of coming off at root. I will not go there again if its her!!! read more
