I got my hair cut by Adam at Salon Rae. Normally I don't comment on haircuts, but I must say this is as good a cut as I have had in many, many years. My hair can be complicated to lay properly, especially if the hair person isn't very skilled. My hair cut was great and after a few days I did not have any "hair sticking up" as can be the case. I have been getting pedicures and an occasional manicure with Kerrie for a couple years now. Her work is impeccable. She remembers my ingrown nails and is gentle while trimming them. I went to get my hair done by Lyda, and it was the worst dye job I have ever had. When I asked for a Balayage it looked like she played Tetris on top of my hair. I spent 120$ for a really shitty job. This one star is for them returning my money after they saw what she did with my hair. It's been three months and 700$ to fix what she did to my hair. To this day my new stylist can't get all the bleach spots out of my hair without frying all of my hair... Anyways don't go to Lyda this lady needs to go back to beauty school. Do not recommend due to lack of sanitized brushes and combs. The stylist used the same comb from previous patron WITHOUT sanitizing the comb. Also used the same brush but removed the other person hair with the same comb then spayed the brush with some sanitizer before blowing out my hair. ICK! Plus they prefer cash. The 1st time I visited, the took my cc. The 2nd time they wanted Venmo or Zelle. This last time they wanted cash and not Zelle. Not returning. For a $75 plus tip haircut I expect a clean brush and comb used on my hair. read more

I've been thinking about finding a salon/stylist in my neighborhood, and I believe that happened today! At about noon on New Years Eve I realized that I wanted my hair to look nice when I spend time with family this evening, and at about 1pm I decided to call Salon Rae. I was prepared for a "we're booked all day, sorry" response, so I was really happy when they offered 1:45pm! I wanted hair services and an eyebrow wax, so my appointment started with Ayesha, the esthetician. I enjoyed the relaxing music in her tiny treatment room and was (in a good way) surprised by her method. I'm used to wax, cloth, pull hairs, wax, cloth, pull hairs... so I was surprised when she applied wax (+ cloth?) all around both eyebrows and then started pulling the thin waxed strips. I guess the wax was on the cloth-like material so she didn't have to apply & rip, apply & rip. I don't know if I'm doing a good job explaining, but... it was different and interesting... and I'm happy with the result. I also really like that she asked before putting a little (lavender-scented) oil on my skin (around the eyebrows) after she finished waxing. The second part of my appointment was in Carrie's chair. I wasn't feeling very talkative so we didn't talk much, but she was nice and I'm happy with my trim and all-over color. My hair is so soft and shiny right now. Wish it would stay that way! The cost for all three services ended up being about $130 (before tip), which is pretty much what I expected to pay. Looks like I'll be visiting Carrie/Salon Rae next time I decide to get my hair cut/colored! read more

I just moved from Arizona and was in need of a new salon. I have been working in a Covid designated hospital since the beginning of the pandemic, so have been trimming my own hair and waiting it out. I showed her a few pictures of my "goal hair" since its in the awkward grow out phase from being a LOB. She immediately understood how to help me achieve the look i was going for without losing a ton of length. She fixed my part too so my hair doesn't look lopsided (which no other stylist has done before!) My hair smelled SO good after the cut and lasted overnight and through a shower with the style. I had a negative experience with Jamie Tremain from this salon. The haircut she gave me was unacceptable - she gave me layers that were not blended and the haircut was disconnected from front to back (see pictures). I complained about this and went back to the salon the same day to ask her to fix it, whereupon she proceeded to cut more. I reached out to her the following day to tell her I was unhappy and ask for a refund, and she told me she would either refund my money or fix my hair. Now, she is refusing to refund me the cost of my haircut. The salon is unable to address this issue as she is an independent contractor. I chose to get a haircut by Jamie based on a facebook posting she made detailing a special she was offering. In her advertisement, she posted pictures of various haircuts/colors, which to me, implied they were her work.  After my haircut, I decided to do an image search on these photos and found they are stock photos, and not her work at all. I found this very misleading and would advise others to thoroughly research before booking. read more

She really listens and makes sure that shes hearing what you say when you want something specific. I've had her color my hair and she always gets the perfect color for my skin tone. I had an awful experience here. So bad that I've debated for 5 months whether or not to even share my experience for fear of dredging up the memories. But I am a devoted Yelper, and Yelp I must. I have been getting my hair done in training salons for years with great (and affordable) results, but I decided to splurge on highlights and a cut from a 'real' salon. I was booked with Whitney, and I asked her for a full head of highlights that would breakup the very blonde color I had currently. She gave me low-lights that came out black, and highlights that came out.... white. Not white blonde, or pale yellow..... white. End result? A stripey skunky do with big chunks of my previous blonde color throughout. And, to make matters worse, the edgy layered cut that I asked for came out as The Rachel circa 1998. The results were alarming. ALARMING. I looked 55 years old (I am 29). And seeing as the salon was now closed for the next two days and I had to work the following day, I ran straight for the hair dye aisle at Walgreen's. Now, I understand that this stuff happens. But the way with which Whitney and then the owner dealt with me was what made my experience so horrible. The owner, in a very raised voice over the phone, blamed me for the poor coloring results, saying that my hair was damaged. Yes, I have split ends, but why has every other skilled stylist had successful results for the last 16 years I've been coloring my hair? And when I refused to pay $190 for black and white hair, Whitney blamed me for not being able to pay her phone bill that month. I'm sure that this was an unusual incident, and I would have kept this awful experience to myself had it not been for the owner's and the stylist's insulting customer service and unprofessionalism. There seemed to be many other very skilled stylists at Salon Rae, and I in no way mean to demean the talent of the entire staff. read more

This was my first time at Salon Rae. From the moment I called to consult about highlights I wanted to get, my experience was fantastic. I spoke to Graydin on the phone about what I wanted and from the vague description I gave him, he was able to figure out what I wanted and what needed to be done....and he is a MIRACLE WORKER! Aaaaaaand, super sweet and friendly. I have JET BLACK asian hair and wanted blonde blonde white blonde highlights. I had asked another stylist a couple days prior about doing this and she was like, I don't know if it can be done (well, I see pictues, I think it can...) and when I asked her about how much it would be, she just had no idea. Hello. When I asked Graydin, he was like, okay we have to do this, this and this and it's going to be this much. Bam, let's do it. THE RESULTS: Better than I expected and I am IN LOVE with my highlights. I didn't think my hair could be so...WHITE! Horrible Experience with Lilly!! This review is not specific to the salon, but only towards Lilly. And as much as I feel bad about doing this, I want to give others a heads up so they don't have the same experience. I found Lilly through Groupon and was interested in the cut and balayage offered. I reached out to her directly to see if there were any additional fees because that was not mentioned on the Groupon ad. I was certain with my thick, curly, long hair there would be additional fees so I asked her specifically before purchasing. She told me there were no extra fees and that there was no need to purchase the Groupon and that she would honor their price. No additional questions were asked to me prior to my appointment. I drove over a half hour to my appointment . The moment I arrived I had a bad vibe from her. She questioned why I was there early when I was only 10 mins early, for some reason she thought it was an hour before I was supposed to be there. Before I even sat down in the chair, she mentioned my hair was way thicker than she thought and told me there would be additional fees. Disappointed I even told her I could settle for a partial balayage. Now it wasn't that my hair was thick, but now it was she only did blonde balayage that she didn't have any red dye there. After many excuses to try and get me to decline my scheduled appointment that was supposed to be happening I decided to tell her I didn't want her services and I left. Very unhappy and I can honestly say I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional and rude! What a waste of time!!! read more

You wouldn't expect such great service from this gem of a salon...but I've been going here for over 2 years & am very happy. Rather than trying to be a resort (no oohhaaah spaaa!) or a nightclub (no loud music, or stylists with attitude), Salon Rae is basically a nice, clean place to get your hair/nails done. The salon owner, Keri (Carrie? I can't remember), is there most of the time, as she is a nail technician. She does a great job - her prices are quite a bit more than what you'd pay for a mani/pedi from the nail place across the street - but it's a different kind of place. Another reason I like the salon is that they are pet-friendly and kid-friendly - provided both are well-behaved. I've brought my son in there since he was a newborn & the ladies have always offered to "watch" him while I'm getting a treatment done. Granted, as he got older, my son was always strapped in a stroller, so he couldn't walk around....and no child SHOULD be able to walk around a salon. (now I only go when he's in school). In any case, the staff has been very accomodating, which I really appreciate. The only real con to this place is the parking. Juanita Village has few parking spots, at least 3 salons, 3 restaurants, etc - all vying for a few spots nearby. But even if you have to park "far" away, it's not really far. read more
