2nd time getting my cut/color there, I normally try salons one and done, but Miguel did a good job 1st time so I came back. The prices are listed on their site and is comparable to other salons. I would rate this salon 10 stars if I could! I am thrilled I found this salon on accident. I was heading to the city for a performance but was going to stop on the north side for a hair-styling appointment. However, traffic on I-90 was at a standstill so I exited at 294 north and exited at Touhy east and started driving. I typed in "salon" in my cell phone and called a salon (I won't name it) that was pretty rude to me when I asked if there was any way I could get a blow dry this evening. She said "Well, ma'am it's Valentine's Day and everyone is booked. sorry..." (making me feel dumb with her tone of voice). DUH! I know it's Valentine's Day but I thought I would try and see since I didn't want to perform looking like an idiot. Salon Prospect was the second salon I called. Not only was Miguel courteous on the phone, but he was beyond accommodating. Only I would try to squeeze in a hair appointment on Valentine's Day. He didn't have to squeeze me in but he did and I am eternally grateful. I performed at the Drake Hotel tonight for Valentine's Day and had loads of compliments on my hair. Miguel made my hair look gorgeous. I am going back to Salon Prospect this week to get my hair cut by Miguel and I can't wait! I had a last minute event pop-up and decided to check this salon out. Owner Miguel Chavez answered the phone and was able to book me in for an up-do within a few hours of calling. Parking was difficult to find on the street. Once in the salon, Miguel politely greeted me and pointed out Dana Dekelaita who would be my stylist. Both Miguel and Dana were working with clients. The salon was quaint with no water cooler and an overstuffed coat rack. Dana reviewed different options with me regarding styles. She quickly went to work and did an excellent job. I had purchased Swarovski hair clips and asked that she place them. Unfortunately, she did not pinned them in and I lost one between the salon and my car and ended up removing the others so that I would not lose them as well. I believe this salon is new in the neighborhood and has room to grow. read more

My daughter and I both go to Salon Prospect. It was such a relief to find someone who could cut my daughters hair. She has some curl and likes it short Miguel created a style that compliments her face, is incredibly stylish and fun and the best part she loves it. As for me I swear the man is a magician every time I leave my hair looks amazing, the cut is crisp and clean and the color what I wanted. read more

Miguel is an excellent hairstylist. His haircuts consistently great. Salon has a nice relaxed atmosphere and parking is never a problem. Pricing is not cheap, but perfectly reasonable for the service. Highly recommended. read more

I went into the salon as a first time customer requested cut and partial highlights. I got an uneasy vibe the minute I walked in, I should have just walked out. Long story short I don't think the owner of the salon who cut my hair has any idea what he's doing. I have never seen highlights done the way he did them with the foil just scrunched up on my head. He went to shampoo I'm pretty sure he didn't even use shampoo. The highlighting process took so long I told him I no longer had time for a haircut or a blow dry. I stood up from the basin and just dried my hair myself. I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. I didn't even look at myself in the mirror for two hours because I knew it wasn't what I wanted. I actually did go back to the salon after I told him I looked like a blonde Britney Spears (I'm pushing 40 that's not the look I'm going for) and he offered to redo it. Of course he blamed me because I didn't request two toner in my hair. I don't know how to do my hair otherwise I would do it at home. I'm not going to go back because I have absolutely no faith in this guy. I'm really upset because I only get my hair done four times a year and I spent hundreds of dollars on the hair that I don't like, a babysitter, and almost three hours of my time. It took 2.5 hours for highlights only and not even a proper shampoo. read more

Exactly what I needed! I loved my hair stylist where I used to live, and am fussy about my hair cuts. I was driving an hour each way just to get the right cut! Finally I took the plunge and decided to go to Miguel, whose shop is just a mile or so away from my home. I can't believe I waited so long. He listened, understood, and gave the exact cut that I was looking for. Prices are reasonable too! Thank goodness I've found Miguel. He deserves this unsolicited review. read more

I was excited to try this place as a very good friend recommended it, but I left severely dissatisfied. I should have asked for Miguel or Dana since they're the ones with really good reviews. I had Christina for my stylist and asked for an ombré and even showed her a picture of what I wanted. It looks like lowlights, not an ombré. She left most of my hair at the bottom its natural color rather than change the entire length of the bottom. She said afterwards that we should wait 35 minutes to wash out the dye. However, she didn't wash it out until an hour later because she started work on two more customers and couldn't leave them. It was such a waste of my time. Then she charged $100 saying that's the cost of an ombré. The website says an ombré starts at $55 so how did the cost almost double when she didn't even color it properly? It doesn't even look like an ombré! No one can tell. 95% of my hair is still it's natural color which is not how it's supposed to look. Ridiculous. I'm glad I didn't blow dry my hair there or she probably would have added another $50. I would never recommend this place to a friend or go here again. I've never written a review before, but I had to create an account to do so because I was so disappointed with my hair and wanted to warn others who are looking to get an ombré. read more

Really nice colorist Christina, but what a weird experience. The person who washed my hair complained the whole time about wanting to go home and then when I asked where I should go after she finished washing my hair, she told me to go ask Christina myself. While waiting with my foils in my hair, I found it odd that one customer was drying her own hair, but after I was out in a chair, was told I could dry my own too! What?? You don't pay to get your hair highlighted and washed to then sit there and dry your own hair. She found someone to dry mine and instead of asking me how I wear it, dried it out like I was in a beauty pageant and charged $32 for the blow dry. Oh, plus what usually (at my salon in the city) takes 2 hours, took 3 plus hours. Say goodbye to my Saturday! Really wanted to love it, since it's close by, but had a very strange experience. I will not go back. I trusted the great ratings, but did not have the same experience at all, plus my highlights wore out really fast. read more
