I initially went in because I got a pretty terrible haircut prior going somewhere else and I needed to find a new salon to fix it so I took a chance on this salon and I'm very happy with my decision. I just got back from my haircut and I am close to tears! Being a full time mom to a 14 month old has left me very little time to worry about my hair. And my hour was wasted on this hideous horrible cut. My hair is very difficult to cut and manage but this is just horrendous. This was my fourth and final visit to this salon. I like this salon, honestly I do..everyone is very nice and its well kept in there. I should have known something was wrong when she didn't give me a mirror to check the back after she was done but I didn't think anything of it. I appreciate them being able to get me an appointment the same day but this wasn't worth it. $45 bucks down the drain and now I have to find another salon to fix this. EDIT: okay I am editing my review and adding a star because I have had some time to calm down. The other times I went to this salon were good visits. Anyways, I got an appointment with CK Studio in Skokie today at 5 based on recommendations from a few friends so I hope they can fix this. read more

Adrieanna and Amy are fantastic nail techs. I had a "regular" manicure by Adreanna right before New Year's eve...it lasted EIGHT days! I asked her who had done her hair in that picture and she told me it was Maria at Salon M. This is one of those cases of mother knows best! Maria is the go-to-colorist for women of all ages. Very satisfied with my trip to Salon M!! Although it took about 3 long on hold phone calls to set my appointment up, it was well worth it. The workers are all very kind and friendly to talk to as well. -Lucy did an amazing job at highlighting/balayaging my dark hair. The price wasn't too bad either. For the balayage, toner, and blow dry under the hood it totaled $115 (thought it would be waaay more expensive considering that my hair is very long(2ft) and thick) I will definitely be coming back. :) read more

Love this place! It's family-owned and run, and all the employees seem genuinely happy to be there. I go to Edith for haircuts, and I wouldn't trust my hair to any one else after going to her. She gives great cuts and has great suggestions on new styles for you. She even takes the time while she is drying/styling your hair to explain what she is doing so you can replicate the process at home. When it came time for my wedding, only Edith could style my hair. She did so beautifully. On wedding day, JoAnna did my make up. She is very talented. Unlike many brides who go crazy with make up on the big day, JoAnna made me look beautiful, but I still looked like me. Very natural looking. The Salon did such a good job with my wedding party that one of my bridesmaids, who got married about 6 weeks after I did, used Salon M for her bridal party too. Again, they did a wonderful job. Setting the scene....My brother was getting married and I was looking very pail, very unkempt and very sad. We hadn't had a family photo since I was 15 (and pimply, and in braces) therefore I felt it was important to look my best. Cue Adrianna at Salon M. Adrianna hooked me up. One day she did my nails and the next she spray tanned me. By the end of the week, and the big day, I was looking my best! Happy, healthy and in a good way. I loved it so much that I came back to her for my wedding and I could not have been happier with the outcome. One unusual thing about me: I dread going to hair salons. It's not my favorite thing to do. I usually let my hair grow for 2 years before I eventually drag my sorry self into a nearby salon. My hair has been butchered enough times to traumatize me. Of course, I'm to blame because I usually go to places that charges $5 for a haircut and I don't say anything (not a fan of confrontation). This time, however, I decided to splurge on something non-edible instead of eating out (again). I found Salon M through Yelp. I initially thought they were new to the neighborhood but it turns out, they've been around for 11 years! Imagine that! Salon M is located at a strip mall so it's easy to overlook it. Don't be fooled by the outside appearance. Inside, it's actually very clean, spacious, and organized. Anyway, as for the haircut, this is probably the best I've ever had since I came here to the US. Lucy did my hair and she's awesome! I felt really comfortable with her. She's friendly but not too chatty. She knows her stuff and efficient as well. $45 for a haircut is a little pricey but I'm glad to pay for it because I haven't felt this awesome in a long time (hair-wise). It's the right style for me and I have Lucy to thank for that. I will definitely be back, I think I finally found MY salon! read more

I've been toying with the decision to chop my hair for quite a few months - Lucy was nothing but patient and humored me along the way! I came in to get my hair done by Lucy, it was my first time to this salon. I showed her multiple pictures of what I was looking to do. It wasn't anything far off from what I originally had, I just wanted balayage and I already had blonde hair so it should have been pretty easy to just darken the roots and blend it down. I left the salon that day looking worse than when I came in. My hair had about an inch of outgrowth and it looked like she had just dyed the outgrowth darker. I contacted the stylist a few days later after I decided that I couldn't walk around looking like that any longer. She scheduled me for another appointment and attempted to fix it, which she failed miserably once again. She dripped some of the dark dye onto the blonde areas and it left splotchy marks all over. The comb she used left horizontal lines from when she tried to blend it also. I brought it to her attention when I was drying my hair at the salon, and she said "oh don't worry that will wash out". Well, it never did, it actually was more visible. I told her a few days later that those spots didn't wash out and they were more visible, and she didn't apologize or say anything but "call the salon and talk to Maria". I spoke to the manager and she proceeded to tell me "I'm sorry that you feel that way but we can't refund your money". She kept implying that I wanted free services done because I called back "a month later" (which was really a week and a half later because Lucy said it would "wash out"), so I gave it time. The manager also said there was nothing she could do and she wouldn't confirm that I wouldn't have to pay if I came in for her to fix it again. Oh, and she fried my hair to the point that I have random short pieces everywhere because it's all breaking. So, now I have to cut at least 2 inches off. The manager proceeded to defend the stylist regardless of her wrongdoings. Mind you, I'm in customer service and I hate complaining to begin with, but it was THAT bad. If you're looking for skilled stylists and good customer service, look elsewhere. read more

I went in for a root color and blow dry. Maria helped my hair look shinier by adding a glossifier to my hair. I also purchased an aqueous product that made my hair feel super soft after the blow dry. I have been to this salon twice, and have been happy with the quality of the services, thogh a bit shocked at the prices (I had been going for YEARS to BoRics - it is a jump for me to go from $15 dollar haircuts to $40.00!!!!) That being said - I am much happier with the services I am getting. My stylist took the time to do really good foiling, and gave me a haircut that looks good after you wash it, and also still looks good 3 weeks later, too! I will go back for a trim when I can make myself afford it. The place is pleasant, does not smell like chemicals, and offers free coffee, doughnuts and other nibbles. By far the best hair cut, eyebrow waxing, mani, pedi and facial I have had in forever. Lucy is by far the best hair stylist I have ever had!!
