I can't recommend Salon Montana enough as Stephanie is the best at what she does and I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair. I've lost count of how long I've been coming to her to color & cut my hair but it's been at least 6+ years. I also happily drive three hours to see her, that should say all it needs to say right there. Stephanie is the owner of the salon and she works magic on my hair. I've always been known to be very picky with my hair which is why I struggled to find the right artist for some time. Once I found Stephanie through my mom it's been smooth sailing since. She listens to your needs and respects the way you want your hair done. I'm grateful to her because my hair is so healthy after coming to see her all these years. I continue to get so many compliments on the color she helped pick for me and she only cuts the dead ends that need sprucing, so my hair has maintained it's length. The prices at Salon Montana are extremely reasonable for the quality of service you get. Also I don't know how she does it but my color actually stays! I'll come back 90 days after and we notice how good the majority of my color has lasted. At other salons I felt like the colors quickly faded but not here. The shop itself is very welcoming and cozy. Always clean and the location in downtown La Quinta is perfect as you can run next door to grab a quick coffee or snack before/after your service. Stephanie really tailors her services to everyone. Men and women's hair. I'm in my 30's and she's my stylist for life (or for however long she will put up with me lol). Also to note my moms in her 60's and also comes to her regularly. Her hair has never looked better and is so healthy now. It just shows if your reading this, whoever you are, it's likely that Stephanie will get it just right for you and she definitely deserves your business. I had an incredible 5+ Star experience and I am so glad I found William at Salon Montana. What I loved! He was super personable, chatty but not too chatty. Just perfect! I have long thick hair that is sometimes a challenge to cut and blow dry. He made it look super straight and natural. My cut was precision perfect. Would I recommend? Absolutely!!! And don't be worried about Covid -- the salon is super careful. They require masks, only service one client at a time, allow 1/2 hour between clients for sanitizing. Consulted him about how bright I could get my black virgin hair to my desired burgundy red hair color w/o bleach, and this is the end result and I couldn't be happier! Haven't had a good haircut experience in years but he cut my hair exactly how I requested. I highly recommend this salon and William to do your hair. I like that they have set prices on services rather than allowing each artist to set their own because I felt confident with whoever was available. When I met William Klein I instantly felt at ease in his chair and trusted his artistic eye. I told him that I wanted to keep some length to my hair with shorter pieces in the front to frame my face. He did just that! I love the way my hair falls so naturally. It's like I don't even have to style it. He also highlighted my hair making it look more natural on me that my true hair color! Neptune cut my short naturally curly hair for the first time today, but it looks like she has been my hair stylist forever. I scheduled a cut with no blow dry and Neptune was finished in 30 minutes, but then I walked outside with wet hair into gale-force winds. I had the most amazing, pleasant hair cut appointment with William. It was my first time going to this salon and meeting him. I'm super picky about my hair and have had some horrible haircuts before. He made me feel so comfortable, answered all of my questions, and gave me step by step of what he was doing and why. He cut my hair dry which I have never experienced before! Now I understand why my hair never turns out exactly what I ask for. It's because they were cutting it wet! I don't understand the rudeness of the receptionist & her attitude when trying to make an appt. You can call and leave a message (because they never answer their phone) but don't expect to get a call back even when you do leave a message. The way they book appointments is very unprofessional and they berate you if you try to book an appointment directly through the stylist. I'm paying top dollar to go to a salon that doesn't care if they have clients or not because you're just a number I guess. My stylist does a good job but it's not worth the hassle to have to beg for an appointment or even worse get no response back when you do reach out numerous times even as a repeat customer. There's always some excuse. There are plenty of good salons everywhere so unfortunately I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. It's really not worth the time or hassle it is to deal with a rude gate keeper who doesn't like her job or can't actually do her job and has absolutely zero people skills whatsoever. I am new to the area, and needed a hair stylist. Went into Salon Montana in old town La Quinta. Loved that it is located near our new home and read the reviews, which looked good. When I went in to make an appointment, I found Stephanie and William were booked until the New Year. The very professional receptionist recommended Neptune. I have long very thick hair, it's not easy to cut or highlight. Neptune did a fabulous job, she listened to me, and did exactly what I was looking for. I originally contacted this salon after I was referred by a friend. While they may produce great work and deliver great cuts, the woman (Jessica, I believe) who answered turned me off immediately with her piss-poor attitude. I understand that salons can get busy, and it can be difficult to answer questions, but come on, man. Get off your high horse, and treat a potential the client the way they should be treated. In fact, you should be happy that someone trusts your skills when changing part of their appearance. When a person calls, chances are, they need the help of a professional or else they wouldn't be looking for a stylist. Mind boggling, right?! Yet, I was met with an impatient tone that basically cut me off anytime I tried to talk. I had been going to another salon in Palm Desert for about a year and was very upset with my hair color and the inconsistent pricing. I live near Old Town and was walking to another salon in Old Town for a hair consultation when I happened to come across Salon Montana. Jessica was immediately helpful and honest and has been ever since. Every time I call she remembers who I am and works really hard to help me get an appointment that works with my crazy schedule. She recommended I talk to Jedon because she does a great job with color corrections. Jedon is amazing. She said she could correct the years of bad color and get me to the color I wanted. To this day I always get compliments on my hair; the day after it is colored to the day before I go in for an appointment and I have roots. No haircut and blow dry due to time constraints because the appointment started 25 minutes late, but Stephanie was very apologetic and even offered a free cut...but...no time. She listened carefully and even recommended something better for my coloring and was diplomatic at saying "your hair looks like shit...who did this to you?" except in a better way, but I knew what she was saying. After looking at what I wanted, she managed to get me something more suited to me and perfect even though not quite what I wanted, but even better and I am not going to look like a Victoria's Secret model with the colors that I picked...even though my boyfriend tells me I look like Heidi Klüm. I am sad that I don't get to go back to her again for touch ups because she was so nice and sweet and professional. I really enjoyed this experience. Michael Ahmeti is the super hero of hair! We met in Malibu, before he opened Salon Montana. Desperate for a local stylist, I asked three women who each had transformative cuts and colors - styles that brought out their personalities and looked amazing on them as individuals - each of them recommended Michael. I had the same experience. Now I'm spoiled. Somehow, his blow-outs last for days, cuts hold their shape for ages, colors leave my hair healthier, and the style requires so much less day-to-day effort. What he creates just fits and it lasts. Yes, since he moved 2+ hours from my home, I've tried to cheat... I always end up back at Salon Montana asking Michael to fix my latest misadventure. And he can always fix it. While his extraordinary competence alone is worth loyalty, he is also an amazing man. In Santa Monica, he provided free haircuts for the homeless. At Pepperdine, he helps Locks of Love each year...still! The environment he sets in this salon is also priceless.
