Problem is balayage turned out lopsided, too close to my roots, and too choppy. I called the salon and spoke to the stylist . David promised that it will not grow out with harsh lines. Problem is it's still not the look I wanted. I didn't notice this until after the phone call: 1. The right side does not match the left side. Left side color starts close to the roots whereas right side starts further down (closer to what I wanted). 2. Poor blending on both sides. It's blended in the front but not throughout. Stylist even admitted on the phone they intentionally made the back more chunky saying it's okay because your hair covers it so you cannot see it?! I don't know about you but paying $380, I expect my entire head to be blended evenly. Also it would have been nice to know this up front. Higher price than I expected being in Chinatown. I'm visiting from Chicago. Not sure if it's all of NYC or just this establishment but 70% of the color application was done by a color assistant not the stylist. And there's expectation that you tip both the stylist and assistants. With that I ended up paying more than I would've in Chicago. I've had hair cut and perm with other stylists at the salon. Those turned out good. Do not recommend for hair coloring.

I even got a text the night before confirming my appointment and time, which was a nice touch. I showed a reference photo and video I found on TikTok of a hair styles full of face framing layers and the haircut and styling I got was spot on. She asked me how much I wanted taken off and after pointing to it, she chopped it off before bringing me to wash my hair. This was very appreciated and i don't know why other places don't do this first, especially when I'm chopping off 6+ inches anyway. This makes detangling after washing much easier to manage and comb through. The wash was very relaxing and a good amount of product and scrubbing was done that I felt super clean. After cutting, she styled by hair by blowing drying it into nice loose bouncy curls and finished off with hairspray. Do try to get there a bit early so they can start you on time. From my observance, they seem to book everyone on the hour for an hour long appointment and my session ran over a bit because my hair is very thick and long. They seem to be very busy hour to hour. Cash only. I loved my entire experience and am glad I found this affordable gem. Will definitely be back.
