Came for a lash lift and don't think it my lashes look any different than when I went in. The girl made sure I was comfortable and didn't burn me but I think she is not experienced with lash lifts. At the end she said she was putting water on my lashes. I'm pretty sure when you perm you're not supposed to use any water as it can take out the perm. My lashes had no curl afterwards. For $50-60 for the service it was a waste. I also asked the girl afterwards if I need to avoid touching my eyes or getting water on them. She said no that I can put mascara on right away and proceed as normal. From my last flashlift experience this was not the case I was told to avoid touching my lashes for 24hrs to prevent from ruining the curls. read more

I had long beautiful thick healthy hair. Decided I wanted to go lighter. I made an appointment with Daniella at Salon Helena. We have been going there for years. I don't think daniella knew what she was doing. By the time she was brushing my hair, she was brushing clumps of my hair out and hiding it under a towel. She burned my hair badly. This happened in July and til this day my hair is still falling out. It is now shoulder length and very thin., shoulder length NOT because I cut it. I have been In a really bad depression since. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I visited this salon a few times to get hair extensions put in. When it was time for my hair extensions to come out, the stylist told me that I would need to leave the hair extensions at the salon for "safe keeping" and whenever I wanted to get them put back in, my extensions would be there waiting for me stored under my name. Fast forward 6-12 months later when I was moving out of town, I went back to get my hair extensions so I could take them with me and low and behold, they were so unprofessional and rude, and "had no record" of me or my hair extensions in their system!! I called for weeks on end to speak to the owner, even visited the salon with the receipt to prove record of purchasing the extensions from them, and was told they would "keep searching" their system and salon for my hair and either call me when they were found or I would be reimbursed for the hair. Well guess what ...? I never heard back. I called and called and left messages with the receptionist over and over but the owner/manager never called me once! So now I am without the hair extensions, and the $300 that I spent on the hair as I was never reimbursed! This salon is COMPLETELY unprofessional, has the poorest customer service and is highly unorganized, not to mention rude, and they could care less about their clients! More than likely they resold MY hair extensions which THEY MADE me leave at their salon and then they were too coward to live up to their mistake and attempt to remedy it! Never again will I go to this salon and I'll make sure I tell everyone I know never to as well!! read more

I had a few haircuts at Salon Helena with Kathy before. The place is really conveniently located in the Heights right off of Menaul. I can't say if I was super impressed or not because I just had simple cuts. Kathy is a really nice person and took her time. The prices seemed a bit steep for what I got. Maybe if you get a more complicated cut, color, perm or something it would make sense to pay this much, but for me it was overpriced. Side note: The salon is cute inside but super girly. I don't think any men would be comfortable in there. Some of the decorations seem like they have been out for a while and could use a refresh, but maybe I'm being too picky. read more

I came to Salon Helena back in April seeking emergency help from a horrrrrrible experience with another "salon" nearby. My hair had been butchered - from scalp to ends! I don't even know where to begin but SH really went out of their way to help me feel good about my hair again. Sara was the Stylest that did my hair - she really listened to/empathized with my situation and gave me honest opinions. I had called ahead of time and warned her that I was going to be a problem child so she cleared out her afternoon for me (royal treatment in my book). I had her full attention the entire time I was there.She spent alot of time on my hair - calculating what would be best considering the damage already there. She had alot of insight and suggestion which is really what I needed as i did not think there was anyway my hair could have been saved. She kept conversation going but it wasn't the fake chatter I'm used to blocking out at other salons (blah). She was interesting and engaging but definitely not overbearing. Oo yea i had a deep condition treatment done (to repair hair) and it smelled like cupcakes and made my hair feel so soft! I definitely recommend that. (Although it did make me realllly want a cupcake:) After cutting and all that she styled my hair into a new look and taught me how to do it on my own. She gets an A+ for sure. The overall atmosphere of SH is nice - very clean with old hollywood glamour accents. (I also got a tour of the attached spa and it looked very relaxing - I hope to try that out sometime!) Everyone that I came into contact with was really warm and personable. In fact the owner came over several times to empathize with me and offer advice on how to begin healing some major scalp damage done by the other "salon". I felt that I actually mattered and wasn't just another client... Which is pretty awesome. I have another appointment tomorrow. read more

I found this place by looking up salons on Angie's list; it was rated near the top. I took in an "inspiration" picture in to show to Chelsea, who was extra excited and enthusiastic to cut my hair. She did a remarkable job, it's probably one of the best haircuts I've ever had. I told her about my lifestyle and how low-maintanance was important to me, and that's what I got. My haircut was about $36 before tip, which I think is extremely reasonable for a haircut. For a haircut: 5 stars. I did have a gel manicure there but didn't care for the results, which were rather messy. There were too many coats used (4) and the gel went up over the cuticles on every nail, which anyone with gels knows will result in them peeling faster and the edges getting curled up as the nail grows out. I feel bad because the nail tech was really nice. For what I got, the manicure seemed a little overpriced. For manicure: 2 stars. I've been back twice for trims, and will keep coming back. read more

I can only rate this place on the spray tan they offer there. I am a very pale person but dont want to spend hours bathing in cancer to get a nice glow... SO i looked around everywhere to see about various forms of spray tans so i could look pleasant standing up in my best friend's wedding... well This was one of the few places I saw that offered a spray tan that is done by hand (not the mystic tan booth that could end up making you look like Ross).. So I came here once for a trial tan before my friend's wedding to see how it would go and then once for the real thing (since it looked so good the first time). Tan looked great, was a little sticky/smelly the first night but showering the next morning made everything look and feel great. Both times I worked with Chelsea and she's very nice and easy to be around since u are half naked (I kept strapless bra and undies on) and shes shooting you with a tanning ray gun for about 10 minutes. If I ever needed a tanning session again i'd definitely come here! read more

Have been going into SH for over a year now. I have thick, wavy hair and had a terrible cut and some bad color from another salon when I went to SH the first time. Shawna was so patient and helpful and has worked with me to help me achieve the perky but professional look I was after. It took a few visits to correct all the color problems but it always looked nice as we worked through this together. This weekend I came into Albuquerque and decided on a whim that my voluptuous bush needed whacking. By this, I mean that I called around to find someone to wax my plentiful follicles down below. I managed an appointment rather easily with Yesha, and was quickly seen to the waxing room shortly after I arrived. Yesha, although charged with an arduous and awkward task of relieving me of this Zohan worthy situation, made me feel incredibly comfortable, was very thorough and efficient, and made sure I was super clean and comfortable before I left. This is absolutely the best waxing experience I've ever had.Yesha is a true professional, an awesome lady, and certainly very skilled. I'll be back! I was part of a bridal party that was hosted at the Salon and the staff was awesome! The owner did my hair and it turned out gorgeous! I always worry about going to new places since my hair type and color can be tricky to do but she did a wonderful job and it stayed all day. My make up was done by Shauna who is just as great! This is a late review, but it will be a great review! Salon Helena was able to squeeze me in a last minute bridal trial and book my bridal party within two weeks of my wedding. Most of us had hair and makeup done. We were all very pleased with our finished looks and received many compliments! Our hair stayed curled and in place the entire day and night and so did our makeup. Everyone at the salon was very professional and sincere in their compliments. I told the stylists Amir that I wanted to get my hair done for my wedding. Long story short he was very creepy, made me feel uncomfortable, and absolutely ruined my hair! The self proclaimed stylist fried my hair despite a consultation where I was told it would be fine. After one visit to each, and dishing out a pretty penny, I came away unhappy with my haircuts, etc. I found a salon one day (Salon Helena) that could get me in quick, and there I met Daniela. She was honest with me about what my hair needed. She decided not to do the expensive work I'd asked for and advised me on a less expensive route to go until my hair was repaired (from the damage that had been done at the other salons). First of all, I'll start off with saying that the stylists themselves are very friendly and the cuts are decent. Cathy is the deal breaker. Every time I call or go in, she misquotes prices and is very rude and unfriendly. When I called for a fix on my sons hair (which I was friendly about requesting) Cathy immediately turned on her "charm" and was not only unapologetic and not at all customer service oriented, but started throwing out rude remarks. Beyond pisssed. First off, I am going to sue the salon for my daughters money back. They burned my daughters head so bad she now has open wounds an blisters, an la crisha an some guy working that day were being EXTREMLY rude. No apology was said to her, until I called back an he said they've had problems with the toner before... We'll genius, why use the toner if it's doing this to people? She asked la crisha to help her with her extensions an she gave her an attitude, walked away to gossip about my daughter. She is a licensed professional, this shouldn't happen. If we do not get out money back I will be sure she looses her license. I had a wonderful experience at SH. I went in for a badly needed hair cut and style. Everyone was friendly and personable. I LOVED the shampoo/massage by Andria. Very happy with the results.
