Nestled near downtown Perrysburg this house converted to a salon is in a word, average. The receptionist was rude and unwelcoming. The stylist was great. She took her time to discuss my hair goals, needs and expectations. The parking lot is rather small and they still make you call in to announce your arrival to see if they can allow you in. Even though they gloat over this state of the art air purifier that supposedly clear airborne viruses and other unsavory things ‍ They are definitely overpriced on many of their services. read more

I've lived around here for about a year, during which time I was hacking at my own bangs, letting my hair grow, and asking around for recommendations. Finally things got so bad I turned to yelp and, boy! Am I glad it steered me to Salon Hazelton. I got a same-day appointment with a (gulp!) junior stylist. Madison turned out to be not only a gifted stylist but a careful listener who quickly became an almost-friend. (I mean, I KNOW friends aren't made in 45 minutes, but I definitely felt like she "got" me. She asked lots of questions about how I care for my hair and what I want and suggested we take baby steps to get there together. It inspired confidence. In case you're wondering--I'm 60 and I saw all sorts of customers there getting all sorts of styles: young, old, bold, conservative. Then I remembered: There was a day, almost a year ago, when I was sitting in my car at a light nearby and watched someone who worked here walk an elderly lady out to her car, holding an umbrella over her new 'do. I thought at the time they must be really nice. When I called the place with the good reviews on Yelp, I actually didn't realize THAT was where I was going. See? It was kismet! Now I know they ARE really nice there. And my hair looks good too! read more

I've been going to Salon Hazelton for over 5 years and have always had the best experiences there! I've recommended Salon Hazelton to many family members and friends over the years. I've had two stylists, Anna and Madison and they both are wonderful stylists! My hair always looks so amazing walking out of there and the cut always lasts a long time. I got highlights in 2019 and they still look really pretty in my hair, even though my hair grew out a lot I still get a lot of compliments on them! Their scheduling is always really flexible and I've always had great experiences with all the staff there. read more

Third time here and getting worse every time. First, my colorist was 30 minutes late and never apologized. Next, I sat way too long processing while she did someone else's hair. Then a teenage helper that was sweeping the floor washed my color out. Then they forgot my glaze. Back in the washing area again for glaze while yet another client came in. I have now been there over 3 hours. Then the teenager dries and went to style my hair before I told her to get the actual hair dresser. AWFUL experience. Paid $250 for what felt like a cheap and low class salon. read more

I called to schedule a cut and color service and was told I have to make a separate appointment with a stylist for a preliminary consultation appointment to "decide what I want" before they make the actual hair appointment. I KNOW what I want. That's why I was calling to make an appointment!! I live over an hour away and have a professional career with better things to do than waste 2 vacation days on my hair. It's HAIR not SURGERY!! I refuse to patronize a business that doesn't respect me or my time. I will not be booking ANY appointments with this salon now or in the future. This is an Aveda salon that provides hair and makeup services. They don't have a spa, and they don't do nails, as far as I can see. The owner(s) works at both of their locations, and she and the rest of the staff are all amazing, down to earth, and friendly. I like to frequent a salon where the owner still cuts hair, where the staff participate in national hair shows, and stay up on current trends. They also do many of the local fashion shows, so they are very creative thinkers. They also only use and sell Aveda products which are a bit pricey but worth every "natural" penny! My hair color is now soft, shiny, and there's no chemical smell in the salon ... at all. They are directly across the street from Shamas, but worlds apart in terms of their attitude, friendliness, approachability, and even pricing (given the Aveda products they use). The salon is located in what used to be an older home, so it's very charming. The only downside is that the salon is not huge and a bit dated on the inside. it could use an interior decor that is more reflective of the salon's personality. I always walk out happy and eager to go back. read more

Britney was amazing! I was visiting from out of town and booked with her on a co-workers recommendation,best experience. She listened to what my likes/dislikes were, listened to my past bad experiences and tried to give me everything I asked for. She took her time to get it right abs was very thorough. I had a really great experience today at Salon Hazelton! I came in on Monday thinking my appointment was that day, however my appointment was actually Tuesday at a time that I couldn't make, whoops! In my defense, the online booking system was a little confusing and I was jet lagged from a recent trip. But the staff were very accommodating and rescheduled me for Wednesday morning. This morning I was greeted warmly and offered coffee or tea. An impressive touch was the hazelnut coffee, which is my favorite. I was then directed to the waiting area. I have to say the salon is beautiful; I was told that they recently remodeled and I really dig the decor. The products are displayed nicely and the stylists stations are really nice. Over all the decor contributes to a sense of relaxation and well-being which is very Aveda. My stylist was Candice, and she was delightful. It had been more than two months since my last cut so my hair was a little ragged. I showed her a picture of the shape I was looking for and she delivered above and beyond. The conversation flowed the whole time and before I knew it I was back to my old self! An added plus, the cut was only $27! In Chicago I was paying $45 for similar results from a less experienced stylist. She should really raise her prices, I was expecting to pay in the ball park of what I was paying in Chicago. After paying I rebooked and was given a card for 15% off my second visit. I don't even want to use it because my service was such a good price! Definitely go to this salon, it's top notch! read more

I've been going to Hazelton for several years and every time I have left feeling as if there's something still left to be desired. I have tried almost all the colorists and stylists and still experienced sub-par results with every one. The last time I went in was the final straw, and I will not be returning to this salon ever again. My blonde balayage was poorly executed -- the colorist tried to over-correct the darkness of my hair, and the dye sat on my head for so long that I turned grey/white in several areas. The rest of the balayage was patchy and a million different colors. I was in there for many long hours and returned home in tears. The colorists are very opinionated and do what *they* want to do with your hair, not what *you* want to do with your hair. For example: when I first showed the colorist a picture of the blonde balayage that I wanted, she said it was possible to achieve. However, I found out after we had already started that I was only going to get "halfway" there. Had I known from the beginning that I wasn't going to walk out with what I wanted, I wouldn't have agreed to the two-step process. Now, I've just completed the second step of the balayage, and it absolutely sucks. I will have to get a third dye job to get this mess fixed. Suffice to say, I will be visiting a different salon. Moral of the story: Be wary if you decide to trust your hair with Hazelton. They're only experienced in people with thin, blonde hair. read more

I have no volume and she added just the right amount of layers to give my hair a fuller look. I received several compliments from my friends. Highly recommend Giselle and her prices are reasonable. One of the worst places I've ever had my hair cut. I asked for just a trim, just a shape and the stylist completely shaped it wrong. I liked the way my hair looked before - it had more volume and was thicker. The way he cut it was a totally different shape. When I say "I want it shaped", I don't mean "I want a new shape". He wasted my time by doing unnecessary treatments - this product, and that product, flat ironing it, etc. I just want a trim, nothing fancy. The whole process should've taken 30 minutes, but wound up spending 1 hour and 15 minutes. It's hard to tell these people what to do because I wear glasses, and thus can't see what's happening when they're cutting. I just have to trust that they do a good job. My hair is now thin, flat, and a horrible shape. I desperately want a refund. Will never go back here. read more

I went there because a colleague at work told me about it. Needless to say, I would'nt go back If they paid me. The girl behind the desk was great, but the stylist I landed with, not so. She chewed gum all the way through talking to me, and I don't just mean chewing gum, I mean smacking It. She then picked up my hair like It was a dead rat. I found that off putting. She asked another hair stylist for some advice, which did'nt thrill me, then tried to fob me off with expensive shampoos and items. Never again. I have no idea how this salon received such good ratings. I was looking for An Aveda Salon near me and thought I would give Salon Hazelton a try as "You can't go wrong with an Aveda Salon". WRONG! It was one of the most disappointing experiences that I have had with any hair salon. Front desk was not friendly...so ok, sometimes that happens. The products were in the waiting area and were not accessible as there were chairs in front of them with clients or people who were waiting for clients sitting in them. The shampoo room was a joke. The gal who colored my hair and the one who cut it were so intense in their conversation about everything personal that I felt that I didn't exist. I surely existed when I went to pay my bill and it was $188. WHAT!!! I have been to many Aveda salons and this was the first time that I have been unsatisfied. Absolutely nothing special about this place! Old run down crowded house. And as I went to pay my bill I presented my American Express card and was told "We don't accept American Express." read more

Very disappointing, If i didn't know the product better and never done this before i would say it's okay but when you know what the result is and they try to make you look like stupid, It's sad. read more
