So, when I decide to go to a hair appointment, I am going with certain expectations in mind. I expect quality service on my hair and I expect a courteous atmosphere where I can relax and enjoy the experience of paying someone to do something for ME. I have gone to Northgate several times and have gotten adequate if not spectacular hair colors but the prices are good... so I've been accepting; however, the last time I was there... I was talked to very rudely by the male owner. I just can't seem to get over it. My daughter called me just as I sat in the chair. She was telling me hello and I was in the process of telling her I could not talk (no joke... not on phone for more than 30 seconds) when the owner told me, quite loudly, to "... you need to put that up...". I did put it up. I sat quietly and listen to him loudly talk to various people about a trip he had taken... and I paid for my hair, leaving my stylist a tip and I left. I will not return. My daughter was in labor. I didn't find out till after I got out of the salon because I abruptly cut her off when I was scolded. I was NOT speaking loudly nor was I intending to continue to speak with her... but, really... I have the right to speak quietly on the phone. Perhaps I would be rude but I would be a rude CUSTOMER. I don't feel that I was rude, but I own that speaking on a phone in public can be viewed as such - but so is the way he spoke to me. He could have spoken to me in a decent tone... he could have given me a moment... he could have done a lot of things besides using the tone of voice that he did use. I will spend my money elsewhere.

We were off to a rough start when they called to ask us to come in fifteen minutes early at noon so we could have a longer consult time. We showed up early, but they didn't actually get to us until after 12:15 because they were working on other clients. Halle asked us about the colors we wanted and then they sent a girl to go buy our color. That was probably the second cue to leave. They didn't actually start on use until 12:40. So we spent 5 full hours there :( I suspected the color wasn't going to be as rich since the rinse, shampoo and conditioning was all done with hot water and there was nothing placed on the hair to seal it. I do wish that someone would have said something then about the blue only being on the bottom two inches of my hair, or the the fact that it was blue and not purple. Halle did my blow dry and when it was all done she turned me to the mirror and explain how it didn't "take". No options given for how to make it better... just a whole lot of explanation. After Halle left for the day, Caitlin did offer have us, because by this time she was to the point where my nieces splotchiness was visible, come back next weekend for a fix. The place was so cute, they do offer drinks and as long as you aren't going to fashion colors- the hair I saw in there looked great. Or take notice of the yelper that did get hers done correctly and ask for Kim. I am getting mine fixed next week somewhere else. Did not even suggest I come another time or offer me an appointment. Yes I am clean and presentable. I did have on scrubs as I am a homehealth physical therapist. This salon did an amazing job not only with my hair but also with their scheduling. Having really long hair it usually takes a while to do. The girls at Tranquility did a wonderful job and got my highlights all the way down to my head (which many stylists frustratingly fail to do).
