I went here for the first time the other day, noticing how close it was to my house and all the reviews it got on Yelp. I desperately needed to go to the salon, at the very last minute, so I called Salon Di Amici, and asked if they were open for any walk-ins for color and cut. The woman was very rude and spoke to me as if she did not care to be at work and that I was a client. She made me an appointment and told me to not come in later than my set time. When I arrived at the salon, I was greeted by everyone, and was immediately sat down with a man named Charles for a consultation. I wanted to go from my balayage to a full solid medium ash brown color. Charles told me all the steps and products he would be taking and using to get the look I wanted, without damaging my hair, and the approximate set price (for MY hair was $175+), after the process was finished. Once he received my approval, he made sure everything was okay and began the four hour long process. I let Charles do whatever he needed to do to restore my hair back to life, even if it meant cutting 5+ inches off and doing things out of my comfort zone. He was a great hair stylist because he would reassure me what he was doing and never failed to stop telling me his next step. He always asked me if I was okay with what he was doing and put my words first before doing anything drastic. Long story short, my end result did not turn out the way I expected to. The medium ash brown ended up being a very dark brown. And my hair was a bit uneven when I pulled it to the front. It was longer on my right side than my left side, but was even when the hair was all pulled to the back. Nothing major or drastically noticeable, unless I pointed it out. ALSO, I found out that the rude lady I spoke to in the phone that "took my information" never really put it in. She left most of the spaces blank or skipped them when she asked me about my information. Overall, I would like to return to this salon and see what other things they have to offer. And give them a second try to see if they can improve on their hair cutting and coloring skills. read more

Like brunettes do, I decided I wanted to go blonde. I found a "good deal" on a bayalage session through groupon and took my virgin hair to the stylist. I left with 2/3 of my hair orange. Today, I took a chance and called Salon di Amici to see how long I'd have to live with my orange hair, the clouds parted, and miraculously an appointment opened up today. Charles pretty much saved my hair. It's not very blonde, but it is well-blended, healthy-looking hair again. He communicated everything to me, tested a strand before getting started, and made sure I left happy. My only regret is not tipping him more! I had the most phenomenal salon experience here! I have never been in a salon with a better atmosphere, first of all. I've had my hair done probably a dozen times in my life, maybe, but something about the ambiance immediately put me at ease. There was no tortuous dental room sensation that you get sometimes before you go in for a new look- "am I going to get what I want or will I need a hat when I leave?" kind of feeling... none of that at all. I was quickly greeted and checked in with Barbara. She was an absolutely wonderful woman! She began work after I showed her just one picture to go off of and never looked back. She put me completely at ease about taking on a dramatic new cut and color for me, and she did an UPSTANDING job!! If given the choice, I will seriously never go anywhere else. I had been searching high and low for a salon that would do texturing for a while. Since its not the hottest hair trend right now, it was really difficult to find any options. Anyways, I stumbled on Salon di Amici through Groupon and discovered that they did texturing (yay!) after talking to the staff over the phone I felt fairly sure that they would be able to do what I wanted even though I was really nervous going to someone new. When my appointment day arrived I went in and saw Kimberly for my texturing. She gave me a trim, added a layer then got down to texturing. We got everything done in about two hours and I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. She was fast, communicated well and totally put any worries to rest. Since I was the last appointment before closing and the girl before me took longer than expected, the rest of the gang ended up pitching in and helping and they were also fantastic. Oh and that groupon deal? Since it didn't fit what I was planning on getting done, they told me to skip the deal since it would clash with what I was doing any that they would take the difference off my total bill. 2 stars because I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I came for a cut and color- it's a little too short but that is probably my fault because I wanted to donate my hair. My appointment was 11am and I was 10 minutes early, I did not actually get helped until 11:30am (not the end of the world, I'm patient and it was Saturday) I requested highlights but was convinced balyage is the way to go (also okay) after the bleach I sat with my head in the sink for over an hour with toner in my hair until while another person got their hair cut. My hair was over toned and barely appeared like it was colored at all which was frustrating because I didn't leave until 4:30pm .. I spend 5 hours of my Saturday and my hair was the exact same color. The stylist was apologetic so it was hard to be upset because my hair didn't look bad, it's just not what I wanted and not worth over $200. read more

I don't get my hair cut often so I decided to splurge and chose Salon Di Amici after reading the fantastic reviews. The salon inside was beautiful, with a welcoming but professional atmosphere. The shampoo chairs were the most comfortable ever! Everyone was very nice and happy to answer questions. Sadly, I left very disappointed. I told the stylist I wanted to trim off my split ends and do an ombre on my medium/dark brown hair. I asked for something similar to Kim Kardashian's blonde hair. $180 later and my hair is darker than it was when I came in?!? There one faint strip of caramel brown underneath. No blonde. No noticable ombre whatsoever. I also told the stylist that I was trying to grow my hair out but needed to trim off the split ends. I gave her total permission to take an inch off if she needed to.... I do appreciate her trying to keep the length, but the girl only spent about 3-4 minutes on my "trim". (My trims usually take 20-30 minutes) Basically, I left with no noticeable difference in the look or feel of my split ends. I had to get out of there before I started crying. Lol. But seriously. I don't splurge on myself often, and this was a total let down. Almost $200 and not one person noticed that I got my hair done. I really wanted to like this place. This was my 3rd visit to this salon. The two prior visits I received highlights (by Stephanie), then a haircut (by Jordan) - I was happy with both, no issues there. I called on a Thursday specifically to find out if they did balayage highlights and asked if they were familiar with this technique. Jordan proceeded to tell me he was doing two as we were speaking on the phone, and that he was very familiar with the technique. He was able to fit me in his schedule the following Saturday, which I appreciated very much because I'm about to leave for Spring Break. Long-story short, my hair did not come out with balayage highlights at all. I was completely surprised the following day when I washed my hair - the results were appalling. My hair turned out to have copper/yellow-orange streaks in all kinds of random places and with somewhat blonde towards the ends. It was not a good look at all, and most definitely not what I asked for. I debated on whether I should call/send him an email because all-in-all, I don't consider myself to be a picky client, but the more I looked at my hair, the more I hated it. The last straw was when I picked up my hair in a bun to run errands, and I found out I had a blonde with reddish streak running down the middle of the back of my head!! I was floored! I'm surprised I didn't cry. I sent him an email telling him that I was very unhappy with the results, that after washing my hair, it had turned out horribly orange and that I would respectfully like to receive a refund. His response was, "we do not offer refunds". He said he had indicated to me not to wash my hair for 48 hrs, because I needed to let the toner set in. He offered a free adjustment, but no refund. I have never heard about a 48 hr rule in my life!! Plus, it's not like by washing my hair next day, I would ruin the look completely! If this was dire information, I'm sure he would have reminded me before I left, "please don't forget not to wash you hair ......, it's imperative! " Besides, what else was I supposed to do? That Sunday, my hair looked like I had just woken up from a night of partying, with hairspray and product from the styling, and it looked stiff and dirty! It's not like I'm a highlights-virgin, I've had plenty throughout my lifetime. Well, $143+$20 tip (that I hope he doesn't charge knowing how discontent I am with the results), and 2 boxes of permanent hair dye later, I have an unwanted but tolerable, medium brown hair with reddish tint running down throughout my hair. At at this point, I'm just happy my hair looks relatively healthy and it hasn't fallen out. The sad thing about this is that I was actually planning to come back even after this whole ordeal (if I would have received my refund). Like I said, I did like my haircut. I am hopeful that I will find that one person who will be my balayage expert/savior and will give me beautifully-beachy hair just in time for summer. For now, I will stay away from hair dyes or salons for the next couple of weeks. Reviews are very mixed in here, you either love or hate this place. By the way, this salon needs a good scrubbing. There is hair and dust everywhere, even on the chair you're about to sit into! I think it's a bit overpriced for the facilities and work. They also need to hire a receptionist - the stylist are always having to get up and answer the phone. I must say that Charles and Jordan were very polite while doing my hair and we had a good time. They pay special attention to details and spend time with your hair so it turns out exactly the way you want it. I cut off at least 6 inches today, and I was afraid I'd regret, but honestly, I haven't felt this good about a haircut in years. I loved this place. I was lucky that I could be scheduled so last minute with a very talented man named Jason. Honestly, I mess with my hair all the time so I never care how it turns out, however, Jason is a man with a vision. I initially I wanted to dye my hair a solid ash brown, but instead, he suggested a balayage because it was an easier maintenance. This showed me he was very considerate of my wallet. I later learn he is very experienced with Asian hair so that made me happy. He was also thorough with every step of the way. Overall, I enjoyed this salon and how my hair turned out. She is new to the salon, but I loved her fun personality and she really listened to me. I am growing my hair out. It was right below my chin in January and now it is just below my shoulders. I had Charles as my stylist and not only did he give me a great long layered haircut, but he also gave me multiple tips on how to blow dry, style, and protect my hair. I write this with a heavy heart, because I soo wanted Salon di Amici to be my new permanent hair salon. I have been there twice, once 10/13 and again just last week. My first appointment was fine. It was the first time I had ever colored my hair. I asked for a darker brown ombré with blonde at the bottom. I showed pictures to my stylist Barbara and she was excited. Mid color she asked if I liked red, I said I like some- so a few highlights wouldn't be bad. My whole head was red with a tiny bit of blonde at the ends. I wanted a change so I went with it, not knowing how much up keep went into red hair (after explaining I don't like to get my hair done every 6 weeks, but rather 8-10). I just got a trim, so I didn't really notice how she cut hair. I went back last week excited for a bigger change and just in time, as I has to go out of town for a funeral. I wanted a long stacked bob with dark brown hair, blonde on the ends in the front. Barbara again was excited and so she began the color. Her assistant Sarah was super nice and was the one who started talking with me. The color came out okay. It has a super red sheen to it, which I get from my previous color, I just feel like showing pictures is pointless. Then the cut. Probably the most uneven cut I have ever had. And not stacked at all (after I showed her pictures). She first cut it long and it looked so thick- I asked her to make it a little shorter and stacked thinking it would shape up- She did not do that. After the cut was over she did not measure my front pieces or offer a mirror for me to see the back. I had to go back the next day (after staring in the mirror All night and seeing it uneven) because I paid so much, I wasn't going to just cut it myself. I went back and she asked what side was uneven, I told her and she didn't even measure/compare the two sides- just started cutting! She maybe spent 3-4 minutes cutting one side of my hair. She asked me to stand up so she could see it, and said she was finished. I looked and it seemed okay, not feeling like I could just stare at my hair I went home. And it was still uneven. I had to trim pieces of my own hair to get it to look somewhat decent in the front, not even being able to really study the back of my hair. My sister helped me straighten it a few days later and said I needed to get it re-cut because it is so choppy and uneven in the back. I just want to cry! After spending $150, plus $40 in product that day, I feel so disappointed. I am having to go to another salon this week to get a corrective cut. read more

Was greeted very friendly at the door and Matthew was choosen as my stylist today. Nice guy, very thorough, and enthusiastic about his job. Charles cut my hair and he did a great job talking me through what he was going to do and teaching me tons of tricks for my hair. Very easy to talk to and the salon is gorgeous. I was so frustrated with styling my hair and Charles and Matthew both stayed late to teach me some styling tricks. Now I can't wait to try them! Everyone is very friendly and the best part... their sinks have pads on them to you rest your head instead of breaking your neck trying to hold your head in an awkward position. They gave me an appointment with Whit....if she is the best they have they might as well close their doors now!!!
