I went to Gigi for balayage and had a great experience overall…read more The first time, the balayage came out nice. Since it was my first time getting the style, I still had plenty of my natural dark hair left in, with a good amount of dimension of the blonde without it overwhelming me. The second time I went back and told her I wanted to go more blonde--not ashy like the first time, but a creamy blonde. She completely delivered. The color came out exactly how I asked for it, and she did an amazing job. I'm really happy with the result. Highly recommend Gigi if you're looking for someone who listens and can give you the balayage you're after.

Her prices are fair, and I think she goes above and beyond the given price point too. My haircut consistently results in what I ask for, even when I change it up. She moves swiftly and skillfully. I can always expect her to be kind and thoughtful in all of our interactions. She genuinely cares about her clients and curates such a welcoming and safe environment in her salon. However, you have to keep bleaching to keep the roots fresh and color grey hairs. My hair was dry and brassy, needed dimensions, deep conditioning, and toning. I needed a lowlight or reverse bayalage. I checked Groupons to save money but sometimes you're not getting their best work because it's cheaper and they're not getting as much money or sometimes they charge more for long hair etc. I even got turned away by one color expert called "Hair by Christopher" on Groupons who told me after looking at pictures of my hair, he responded "It's more work than I want to take on.I don't feel comfortable taking it on. Sorry." He claims he a color expert and had good reviews but he was not compassionate nor caring about my situation. Anyways, I checked yelp instead. I reached out to as many stylists I could that would respond right away, educate me, would answers my questions and had good reviews. I wasn't sure if anyone was going to be able to save my hair but I knew I needed lowlights and never had one plus I didn't want to lose all my highlights either. Vivian knew what I needed and what I wanted after communicating with her and sending pics etc. She wanted to work with me and gave me a better deal than Groupon and most stylists. She listened. She wanted to help me. I trusted my instincts and she made my hair look better than I imagined. You can see for yourself. She's efficient, unbelievable at multitasking, and is a hard worker. She doesn't waste your time and her attention is on your hair at all times. She saved me. I am ever so thankful for her. I would refer her to everyone. She doesn't overcharge. Since her regular hairstylist was away on vacation, I decided to look for someone new nearby in Irvine and came across Lily's Salon on Yelp. After reading all the glowing reviews, I had high hopes and I can honestly say every single one was true. Lily was incredibly kind, sweet, and so patient with my daughter. From the moment we walked in, she made us feel comfortable and cared for. What surprised me most was hearing my daughter say she likes Lily even more than the hairstylist she's been going to for the past year! That alone says everything. I'll definitely be recommending Lily to all my family and friends. Thank you, Lily, for such a wonderful experience, we're already looking forward to seeing you again next month!

She even had my reference photo open the whole time for accuracy. I will say, I was a bit timid during my appointment and that just because I have really bad first time anxiety, but Nana was very kind and welcoming. That was the cherry on top. I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you for boosting my confidence, Nana.

Her technique is also a true balayage that blends seamlessly and gives hair wonderful dimension, and I'm impressed by her ability to lighten hair in one setting then toning to get Asian hair to a more ashy, cool-toned since Asian black-brown hair tends to pull red/orangey by nature. You can see her work on instagram @hair_by_na_na She uses super quality products too like schwarzkopf and olaplex. I left with my hair feeling really soft and healthy despite the bleaching. I also like hearing from stylists what they recommend as maintenance. She was very thorough and detailed with her aftercare tips! - No shampooing for 3 days (she said water only is ok - not too cold or hot). This allows the cuticles to close while the color is getting deposited into your hair. - Start using a purple shampoo in 3 weeks to help keep brassiness at bay. - Use sulfate-free colored hair friendly shampoo/conditioner like Pureology. - Use something like Olaplex or K18 to keep hair strong and healthy. - In 2 months, come back for toning to refresh color. My balayage and cut took about 4.5 hours. Nana and Sean work together with the foiling and painting so it speeds things up. She provided a Fiji water and there's a little basket of snacks there too that you can munch on while she does her thing.

Update! Linh did it again!!!…read moreWith my first hair cut, I was conservative and did not cut off much of the length...but this time I said let's go short (which is truly my preferred length). Valet is apparently free, but I found street parking in front of OSPI. I initially found SAGE on Yelp, then visited their website to learn more before booking. I really appreciated how transparent they are. Each stylist has a profile with a bio and a picture. The services and individual pricings are listed upfront in the booking portal, which made it easy to choose someone who fit what I was looking for. Price transparency is important to me, and at the very end I was charged exactly what I booked. My stylist was Mikayla, and she was incredibly meticulous/detail-oriented. She spent about 4.5 hours perfecting my Full Highlights, and I never felt like she was rushing through any part of the process. During the consultation, I felt heard. She listened to what I wanted without any judgment or pressure to steer me toward a different outcome. Instead, the conversation felt collaborative, with explanations that helped me make informed decisions. I know for some, having to chat for all that time may be daunting. Mikayla struck the perfect balance between friendly conversation and giving me space. She clearly communicated each step of the process before doing it. My Full Highlights service included foiling, toning, a shadow root, a hair mask, and a full blowout. I'm so happy with how everything turned out!
