This hair salon is great, and Michelle Teresa does a fantastic job. She did my hair for my wedding and my Maid of Honor's hair, and both came out perfect! She is so sweet and patient and took her time for both my hair trial and wedding day to make sure she gave me exactly what I wanted. Her prices are great, and she is a pleasure to work with. If you were to judge Salon de Beaute solely by its looks, it is as much of an atypical New Jersey salon as you can get - decorations somewhat on the garish side and no shortage of gossiping stylists. Don't let it deter you, though, because this salon is evidence that you can't judge a book by its cover. I came here with a groupon deal and some layers that needed serious fixing. All I had to do was tell the stylist what I needed fixed and she knew exactly what to do. My hair is naturally thick and curly, so I'm always nervous putting my hair in the hands of someone I don't know, but they did a fantastic job! She could tell I wasn't happy about losing too much length, but she explained that in my situation there was not much else that could be done. That being said, my hair does look cute at this length, and the layers look perfect now! Took off a star for two reasons: while getting my hair washed, there were a few stylists sitting in the area and eating. It's one thing to be talking, but I think it's a little wrong to be eating in front of a customer. Bought a groupon for a single process color for my daughter. The bad news is that she needed more than a single process so I spent a lot more than expected. She was overdue for a good cut and color. I bought a Living Social deal, I made an original appointment, then called back to reschedule which I did even giving her the voucher number. When i was driving to the salon I called, she told me I was not on the schedule nor could she find my name or info in her appt book that is all HANDWRITTEN not computerized! She said I lost out on the voucher since I missed the appt! They were nasty and sarcastic as hell.That was total BS and I really think they just simply did not want to honor the deal! They wouldn't even give me the credit paid on the voucher to use! Is that a way to do business? They sound like a bunch of low IQ snotty guidettes, you know the type! read more

I went to this salon yesterday with a Groupon for a single process color, deep conditioning treatment, and cut/style. My stylist was Michelle, the owner's daughter. She was so thorough and made me feel so welcome. I was expecting my experience to be less-than because I was using a Groupon and not paying full price, but it was the complete opposite. She recommended a color darker than what I initially wanted and I'm so glad I took her advice. I absolutely LOVED my hair when I walked out. I am very picky with my hair salons but I absolutely love this one! It's a very vintage set up and friendly staff. They sell other things there, always have bagels with cream cheese and butter for the customers for free, and give amazing shampoos. You should book an appointment in advance. I highly recommend Susan. She is extremely personable and such a fun hair stylist. It's like you go there to hang out while getting your hair done, it's the best! Although it says they are closed on tuesdays, they are opened. I started off with a groupon and have been back several times. I used to get my haircut there but the woman went on maternity leave. Trying other stylists for that. But i get my coloring done by Michele and i like the job she does. I am usually the only one there. The one negative is that they are behind as far as technology is concerned. I ordered a hair product from them twice. No one wrote it down and both times when i came back i saw the products in the salon. They never changed their hours with yelp ( it says they are closed on tuesdays). Do not go there! They totally ruined my highlights. I went in with $250 hightlights and walked out with brown almost black hair with some green/blonde streaks. A lousy cut and black dye all over my face and neck. I now have to have my hair color corrected which will cost me a fortune. I have never had such a lousy touch up and hair cut. Don't waste your money its definitely not worth it. How do they expect to get more clients when they have such unskilled people working there. I am totally sick over this. read more

My stylist was Danielle, she was not interested or engaged at all! She expressed no recommendation even when I asked for her advice. I told her I wanted change of color and I left with the same color hair:) the haircut was mediocre as well. I didn't feel like anybody cared about my satisfaction as a client and didn't feel welcome at all. Will not return. read more

Rude, rude, rude!! I made an appointment but ended up having an emergency doctors appointment a half hour before my appt., and I forgot to cancel. They called me within 30 min of my apt to tell me I was not allowed to come back to their salon. When I explained what happened the lady said she's "sick of people like me not showing up"! I have had my hair cut and colored (with foils) by Susan for many years. Susan always listens carefully to ensure that I leave with the cut I want and I trust her when she makes recommendations. This is a case of the experience is all about who you get. I bought a Groupon and a younger girl did my hair. It was not a good experience. She was very sloppy about the dye and got it all over my face and neck. The woman doing the washing luckily tried to clean it up but the damage was already done. Even though my experience was from one person my disappointment is that even if I get an inexperienced employee there should be someone watching over her work and teaching her along the way.
