*sigh* I hate to see talented people with poor business skills. It's the little, manageable, correctable things that crush them in the end. Working sporadic days/hours, not having a formal way to book an appointment (playing text tag and waiting days for her to check her schedule and get back to me with a date/time she's free is unacceptable)... that's the quickest way to lose a customer. This is the era of SquareUp and similar apps.. I was going to recommend that she look into it, but during one of my appointments, another client beat me to it. Her reply was that she didn't want people to have that much access to her. But....it's. your. job. Why wouldn't you want clients to have access to you? Block off the times that you are unavailable and let your customers choose from there. Simple. It's not like we're trying to come over and hang out at your house. We're trying to give you our money. What's the problem? At one point, it took over 2 months to get an appointment. I tried to make an appointment before Thanksgiving and did not actually get it until the end of January. To be fair, she finally scheduled appointment for 6 weeks after my fill in, but got sick the morning of, and told me she would reschedule...but she never did. She also has no color palette for customers to check out, so instead we have to play a guessing game of 'What color do you want?'. In the 17 years that I've been getting my nails done, I have always determined what color I want by looking at a color palette, and it would save us both so much time if I could make that decision while she's doing my nails as opposed to trying to figure it out when she's ready to polish. I recommended that she get one several times, but she just shrugged off my suggestions. What's really frustrating about this whole process is that as great as my nails look after finally getting the appointment, the polish starts chipping within 48 hours. I'm not sure if it's because the polish is watered down, a problem with the UV lamp she uses, or maybe because she doesn't use base coat. I don't know.  All I know is that rarely have I gone more than a week without my nails looking like I've had the polish for over a month. At one point, it was so bad that several of my nails were bare by the time I got to her for a repair. Not a fill-in: a repair in between fill-ins. The polish peeled off like the foil on a can of Pringles. If it's that hard to get a fill appointment, imagine how much harder it is to get an appointment for polish change. Instead, I have to go to one of my neighborhood nail salons and pay another $20 to $30 for a polish change (and *gasp* those salons actually offered color palettes, so I can actually see the polish colors I want! Go figure!). The last time she did my nails, one of them broke within the first 2 hours (and since I have evening appointments, there was no way I could go back and get it fixed because the salon was closed). The next day I had the chance to look at them in broad daylight and noticed that the acrylic was unusually thin, and that some of my nails did not have enough acrylic on the edges/corners (the sides of my natural nails were poking out from the underneath the acrylic.) No doubt, the girl is talented, but the quality and consistency is not there, and she's just not serious about her business... and that's really a shame. I've been wearing stiletto nails for about 5 years now and she has definitely done some of the best work I've had, in terms of nail shaping. However the juice is no longer worth the squeeze. There are too many Asian-owned nail salons that also do really good work, and I'm no longer willing to exert the extra effort to support the business of someone who doesn't value my business or my money or time enough to provide quality and reasonably accessible services. read more

Before I visit a business, I always check the Yelp reviews. After seeing a few negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive, yet I went against my better judgement. 5/8/21, I had an appt. scheduled with Randi at 10:00 am. I arrive at the salon promptly. She arrived late and to top it off, she told another client to come in at 10:00 am as well. Her excuse was she forgot to check the schedule. Being that I had an appt. I was appropriately given priority. When she finally began my full acrylic set with design, she decided to take her frustration out on me and mutilated my cuticles causing them to bleed, on both hands. Not to mention, she told another client to come in for repair while still working on me. It took about 3 hours to complete my full set. The work was very shoddy! I know she is capable is A+ work, but that is not the quality I received unfortunately. I am big on first impressions, professionalism and respect. This place missed the mark on all accords. I had a horrible experience. Do not go to Randi!! It took 2 hours for a fill-in. When using the tool to clean up my nail bed (metal instrument) she was hurting me. She was pressing down really hard on my nails. The next day anytime I washed my hands my nail bed burned. She had scheduled me to come back the next day for a pedi because she couldn't do them the first day I came. I started not to come back because she really hurt my nails but I really liked my design on my nails I decided to give her a try. After waiting 30 minutes she proceeds to tell me she forgot she double booked me. She forgot she had a 12pm and she couldn't do my pedicure. She gave me a coupon but I will NOT be coming back to this shop. read more

The worst nail experience I've ever had in my life. I went there last year (for the 1st & last time) to get my nails done in a unique design for my birthday. What a waste of time and money. The shop is dirty, and the women who do your nails are mean and EXTREMELY ghetto. I was over charged, probably because I don't sound, act or look like a hood rat. The girls who file your nails was so rough, I thought that I was going to need a full new set when I left. As the woman who actually DID my nails, snatched my hand and jerked my arm until she was happy with the stance, I took a Motrin to help me deal with her. Same for her assistant Ni, I have nothing but great things to say about them both. My nails always turn out fabulous. Please do not be discouraged by the long wait times; a lot of clients come in way past their appointment times which can wreak havoc on their schedules. Be considerate ladies :-) ! It feels like you are sitting amongst a big family. On the weekend, bring extra cash to try the treats that are brought into the shop for sale. Cupcakes, pasta, cookies and more! Ive been to the famous Cara for my nails. I love her work, but the truth is, it is an experience that only her regulars understand. The times I've gone, I had to carve out some hours, 3-4 maybe? You remove your nail polish and go back and forth between Cara and her assistant for acrylic maintenance, shaping, and then design. Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury to spend hours in the shop for my nails (hair yes, it's once or twice a month vs nail maintenance every 2 weeks), but on special occasions, the end result is a treat! My daughter received a gift certificate to have her nails done from a nonprofit that gave away prom dresses and accessories at her school. She arrived for her 1 pm appointment at 12:45 to be told that her nail tech, Sharice, was behind and she'll do her at 2 pm. She didn't start my daughter's nails until 2:20. She asked for coffin shaped nails. Only one of her nails is coffin shaped. She wanted them to be on the shorter side. Sharice and others in the salon kept going on and on asking why she wanted them short for prom. They said getting nails to match her dress was played out. Then, Sharice messed up her polish, and there were scratches in some of the nails. The gift certificate was for $50. The total for a full set with polish (no designs) was $77. Since she messed up, Sharice didn't charge her the overage amount. When my daughter picked me up from work (late, because Sharice didn't finish until after 4 pm), she was very upset. I told her we can go somewhere else to get a polish change, and ask them to file her nails to the proper shape. I can't understand how she charged $80 for a basic job with beginners errors. I don't mind paying for quality work, but this was crap and she almost ruined my daughter's prom experience. read more

Update: It was the bottom of the ninth (can you tell I love that saying?) I found myself in a bind after my regular nail lady was swamped and my nails needed to be done for my birthday. Although my previous experience with one of their nail techs was poor, she was talented. I decided to give them another try. They've changed locations, moving from by the gas station to over by where the CFE used to be. Robyn did my nails this time. She was super sweet and super engaging. I really felt at home with her and although she was balancing three customers at one time she gave us all adequate attention. I'm leaving off one star because their prices are moderately high, but they do good work. If you can afford $90 a full set, go for it! You'll be satisfied regardless. read more

I've had better nails. I went to the big girl in the back on the right. She was always an hr late seating me. Nails broke, chipped or smudged everytime. One time she blamed it on the fact that the polish color was too dark. I also eventually tried the white girl on the left up front. My nails kept breaking. And she was also always late seeing me too and she even had an assistant to do the prep work. It's one thing to spend a ton of money on perfection because you do get what you pay for but it's another thing to get mediocre service, waste all that time waiting and spend so much for so little return on investment. Not worth the money. I was there for like 4 hours for a refill and a pedicure. They do not have a real pedicure chair and they fill a bucket with hot water. They made me sit for 30 minutes until the water was ice cold. When I complained I was told that it's probably cause I took my feet out the water and it hit the air. I was charged $35 and the chair was broken so no massage either. The polished looked horrible. So at first I loved my nails, but then the artist said she didn't like it so she kept overcompensating to fix them. It ended up looking a hot mess with rhinestones glued on to cover the damages. I ended up biting off all the rhinestones when I left. Never ever ever again. read more

I wish I could give no stars!!! I had a 10:30am appointment today with a stylist name Shorty who was highly recommended to me by a friend. I spoke to Shorty last night and explained to him what and wanted done to my hair and that I was leaving my current stylist for not respecting my appointment times. He assured me that I would definitely be in good hands with him. I arrive to the salon at 10:20am and was greeted by a very nice woman named Liz(the reason for the ONE star) who informed me that Shorty has not arrived but she attempted to call him and left a message that I was there. Shorty NEVER showed up, returned my phone call or text message! How UNPROFESSIONAL! I understand that your shop is a recipient of the Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards and that Shorty styles famous people. I was absolutely ecstatic about getting my nails done by Cara. Her work is amazing. However, I'll never find out how her work looks on my nails if I have to wait 1 - 2 hours to be seen. Why have appointments if I get there only to wait up to 2 hours? It's apparent she's good at what she does but I'm certain she'd attract even more clientele with a better system for managing client appointments. my experience with this salon finally turned into a nightmare. my girl was good withe the nails, i'll give her credit for that, but her attitude along with the rest of them, is f..ked up. that broad got me twisted!
