I initially found Salon Bogar through all the positive Yelp reviews and decided to try it as an alternative to the Newbury Salons I often frequent in Boston. I was so pleasantly surprised! The Salon is beautiful, the staff are great, and they have a huge array of products that they use during styling (They have complete lines from Oribe!!!). I went in as a new customer for a basic haircut with Ally and was so happy with the results. Her assistant, maybe the Salon assistant, Lindsey was so nice and welcoming. I've honestly never had a better salon experience and I can't express enough how professional and friendly both Ally and Lindsey were. Ally gave me exactly what I asked for and she also gave me tips for maintenance and styling. The only regret I have is forgetting the 20 dollars off special for new customers. I remembered when I was down the street but didn't have time to go back. The site specifies that new customers can receive 20 dollars off their first service and if I had gotten it I most definitely would have invested in one of the high end products they used during my service. Terrible service. My appointment was at 11am (I arrived at 10:50) and no one even acknowledged me until 11:15 and I didn't even see my stylist until 11:45. I went in for highlights and a trim and when I was finished it didn't even look like I had anything done. I paid a lot of money just to look the same, doesn't seem right. The only reason I chose this place was because of it's high reviews but these reviews have me thinking that the staff wrote them to attract more clientele. I have been to Salon Bogar for a pedicure, eyebrow wax and haircut/highlight. Each experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The salon itself is high end and the decor is really nice. I had a signature pedicure with Heather. It was a truly relaxing hour. The chair is so comfortable and has many different massaging settings. Heather did a great job and I already can't wait to go back. My brow wax with Jennifer was equally relaxing. The table was heated and soft. I felt very pampered and wish it could have gone on longer. I only wish that eyebrow threading was an option since I feel that the results last longer. I also had a haircut/highlight with Ally. I am completely satisfied with the results. Ally also took time to show me different ways to style my hair and gave me different coloring options to consider in the future. It was also a pleasant surprise that the cost was $100 less than what I am used to paying in Boston. As an added bonus, you can book all appointments online. First of all I'd like to start off saying that people should head the advice in the negative reviews on here as a warning, I'm sure those who have good experiences have simple processes done but this is not a place to go for anything more then a quick touch up. In my 20 years of having my hair professionally done, I have NEVER had such a terrible disastrous experience anywhere and then was treated so poorly because I spoke up about it. I spent almost 5 hours in the chair, asking for strawberry blonde lowlights, which I have had done before with heavy foiled lowlights on top fading the color down the hair shaft. My hair is around a level 10 blonde, lightened and bleached- which I told the stylist. I was expecting her to put a level 8 golden copper into my hair in foils for lowlights. She told me she was going to bring some color down my roots and then blend the lowlights into my hair. I took her advice, not knowing what disaster awaited. After doing a clarifying treatment she started the process of putting color onto my roots and I expressed concern when it turned a very dark brown, which looked black against my very blonde hair. She told me not to worry it was just oxidizing. After washing the color out I literally had a mass of 3 inch ashy dark brown roots that immediately stopped and went to blonde, it looked terrible but she reassured me that she was going to highlight and lowlight my hair and blend it in. It was not even close to the color I had shown her. She proceeded to come back with a "balayage" set up which I had never asked for and she didn't tell me about or make me aware of the price. After washing it out and blowdrying I was mortified..not only did it do nothing to "blend"anything but she had dropped random blotches of the dark brown hair dye down into random spots all over my head! It looked like my 3 year old niece had a go at my hair. I pointed out all the splotches and the obvious dark line of demarktation and she said "well the color will fade" "and yeah I see it bled a little bit"..I was so stunned at how bad my hair looked that I checked out as quickly as I could and told her I expected her to fix it..she played it down like it wasn't a big deal and proceeded to charge me $280!! Not wanting to cause a scene I paid the bill and left crying all the way home, I called the manager right away and she told me she'd have me come in the next day and have the "artistic directer" fix my hair. I posted the pictures of my hair before and after for family and friends to see and everyone was shocked at how bad it was and that I was even made to pay anything let alone being robbed in the process. I was up all night with anxiety and tears about this. The next day the artistic director I met with was very condescending right off the bat and was defending the other stylist. She refused to use Olaplex on my now very damaged hair and couldn't give me a clear reason why. After processing my hair another 2 times it still was not what I had asked for and now I just have copper roots. The worst part was she finished the cut of my hair I was supposed to have done the day before and they tried to charge me more money on top of the nearly $300 I paid for them to RUIN my hair! The front counter girl argued with me and told me I had to pay more, I told them I actually wanted a partial refund for what I had been put through, the damage they caused to my already compromised hair and how I got nothing like what I asked for, had to cancel plans to come back in and they had the audacity to ask for MORE money!? Any professional customer service based company would have immediately refunded me something in this situation without me even asking. I left without any refund and I don't expect I will get one. I have never ever experienced such unprofessional money hungry crooks in my life. I will never ever go back to this place, and neither will anyone I know. read more

Wow! What an awesome expreience. I last had my haircut somewhere else and they butchered it. Even their "fix" job was a nightmare, so I needed to try a new place. I was EXTREMELY nervous to let anyone come near my hair with scissors ever again. From the moment I walked in though, everything was great. I'm a little thrifty with money (cheap), so I booked an appointment with a "new talent" stylist to get the better price. Krystle was my stylist and even though she was supposedly new talent, she'd had years of work in that salon alone, and really helped my figure out what it was that I wanted and would work for my face. I'm bad at descibing things, but she got it, and gave great advice. I usually leave a salon uncertain about my haircut. Krystle gave my hair life and made me feel like putting on pretty clothes just to show off my new cut. I'm so happy I went there. Oh, and I made my appoinment this morning and was able to get in. Carrie is wonderful. She's done my blonde highlights for the past 5 years or so. It is pricey but well worth it. She's really friendly and we always share a few laughs. She genuinely seems to enjoy her job. I can be indecisive in what I want with haircuts and she's good about making suggestions with what looks good, especially with layers. She never rushes and always asks me before cutting! She also has never pushed hair product. That's one thing I really appreciate in a salon. They don't try to gouge you at the end by pushing shampoo etc. She's helpful when I ask her questions about what I should use, but doesn't pressure me into the most expensive brand or anything like that. I love salon Bogar! I've had many bad salon experiences and this is the first place I've found where I'm more than satisfied every time I leave. I always go to Tracy and she's super nice and always does a good job on both the cut and color. I like that I never have to stress before getting my hair done because I know it'll turn out fine. All the staff are really friendly and make a good effort to get you an appointment time that works for you. The salon also has a nice atmosphere and is always very clean and looking nice. The price is also reasonable given that it's an aveda salon. read more

Yesterday was my first time at Salon Bogar. Loved it. Beautiful salon, great service, excellent cut/color, great products. I felt pampered! Ally, a senior stylist, colored my hair balyage style and cut/styled my hair and she did an awesome job. She did it exactly how I wanted and gave me the best scalp massage ever during my shampoo. It is a bit pricey but you can choose a junior, senior, or expert stylist all with different pricing and in my eyes it was well worth the money. I was always a sort of "bargain' hair cut person. Salon bogar changed that for me. Sure it IS more expensive than supercuts, or even sears, but it is WORTH it!! I now look forward to my hair appt/s as almost a spa day. The place is 100% class. Nice ambience, but not snobby. I feel special as myself, without feeling like I have to act like a celebrity. They have coffee and biscotti, which believe me , is my breakfast most of the time. They have makee-up to try on and nice music. Mostly I love that I pay for and get top notch color and cut and feel great when I leave there. I get a nice scalp massage and a hand massage and really just enjoy the whole experience. The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating and never snobby feeling. The decor is impeccable, it smells, feels and sounds great. its like a little get-away. I think prices are a tad high. But I don't have to go as often as some so its ok. The product is good , but probably a little high priced. The owner is very charitable and generous with donations, which I find very admirable. I just moved to Nashua, NH from Philadelphia where I LOVED my stylist (Carolyn at Dina Alon). I have blonde hair that is fine and naturally light brown with some emerging gray. I like my color to be as natural looking as possible with very fine highlights & lowlights...nothing chunky or obvious. Based on products offered & reading reviews Salon Bogar seemed to be the right fit. I called twice asking the receptionists questions about the salon & stylists and both times I was impressed w their knowledge and customer service skills. I ended up landing a last minute appointment with Jessica- a much coveted spot, I was told! The salon is gorgeous, everyone is friendly and has great customer service skills plus you can tell they receive a lot of education on the services & products they sell. My hair looks great. I can't wait for my next appointment to try balayage! I ended up buying shampoo & conditioner because they were running a fantastic Kerastase promotion. I also joined their rewards program- I'm also interested in trying their nail services because I haven't had a quality manicure since moving here 6 months ago. read more
