I was torn whether or not to write a review. I some how I convinced myself that I shouldn't because I purchased a groupon and didn't really deserve the best service because it was cheap. $78.00 for cut and highlight. Well, I came back to reality. My appointment was at 1:30, I arrived at 1:20. I had plans that evening so it was important I be out of there by 4:15. I wasn't taken back until 2:20. I watched the man who was going to do my hair fuss with this older woman's hair from the time I walked in until I was taken back. Now I wasn't taken back so someone would start my hair, I was given a cape and a new chair to sit in. Obviously my body language was telling them I was anxious.
I should have listened to my gut, asked for a refund and left. The older woman who my appointment was made late for, sat two chairs away from me and continued to fix her own hair. I was so frustrated.
Nope, I let the older gentleman, Dominic, who was nice start my hair. By this point it's 2:40, absolutely ridiculous. Unacceptable. Again, I kick myself for not leaving. He put in the foils and I waited. I told him I wanted 3" taken off my hair with long layers. However time was limited so if I had to leave without getting my haircut so be it. By this time it's 3:25. He insisted he had enough time to cut my hair and blow dry. He had been doing hair for 30 years, he said "if I was an amateur, then you should be worried"
My gut told me that he probably hasn't cut a younger woman's hair in a while. I'm 28, I've been to cosmetology school in Arizona. I thought, give him some credit, he may be amazing.
My highlights were done pretty well, he decided to use two different lightens which I wasn't crazy about and nothing we discussed but I can get over that. I have level 7 natural color so my hair lifts easily, i usually opt for wella lighter with no toner, achieves natural looking highlights. Oh well, this salon uses Matrix.
On to the cut, he made his guide, (a section of hair you cut and use as go around cut the rest of the hair to ensure its the same length and even) well, he lost it. Woman with long hair that put their hair up will relate to this, in the nape area of your head (back of the neck) you have shorter hairs. These are always shorter than the rest of your hair.
My hair when I went into the salon was down to my breasts, ending at my nipples. I immediately saw when he made that cut bringing my hair to the length of those hairs in my nape. It was all over then. No coming back from that. I was given the worst, choppiest, blunt layered cut I'd ever seen. Think Rachel from friends without it being blended and the year isn't 1995.
I was so upset but didn't want to make a scene, the damage was done. He flat brushed my hair which made the horrible cut even worse. I said, I don't like how blunt the cut is, he took thinning shears out, I was like hold on, I don't want anymore length taken off of my hair! He made a few snips but it didn't do anything. It sucked no matter what. Picture my hair, now dry resting on the top of my shoulders with another very blunt layer ending at my earlobes.
The receptionist came over and said "oh wow, you cut all your hair off". I said I by no means wanted my hair this short, and it was awful.
I got out of there by 4:20. I did not tip my stylist or the girl who shampooed by hair.
My stylists station was dirty, hair all over, old hair collected in the corners everywhere. The floor, and baseboard was the same way.
The stylist next to him, an older Eastern European woman was doing a woman's hair, kept answering her phone and speaking in another language.
It was rude and unprofessional.
It appears this salon has a bunch of older stylists set in their way and don't have to try harder because they are fine doing the hair of all of the older people who've been going to them for years.
This place would make a good episode of Tabitha Salon Takeover.
I considered calling to request someone to fix my hair but the only way to really fix it, is to cut it shorter. Instead it's been a month to the day that I was there and I've worn my hair in a pathetic excuse for a top bun since. I hate my hair now. I've been overdosing on Biotin in hopes my hair will grow back quicker than usual. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The customer service sucked, the place is dirty, and I am confident in saying that I'm sure the owner of this salon doesn't give his or her employees any ongoing training. The product shelves were sparse and I am not sure if they washed my hair with professional products.
I'm not being sarcastic at all here, I really want to save someone from going and having a terrible experience like I did. The only thing that would make me feel a little better would be to get my $78 back, and to have never to have stepped foot in this place. read more
