I am absolutely amazed by this place. I've been getting my hair highlighted for years, and have tried EVERYTHING to get the color I want but no stylist has been able to get me to the level I want. Until now. Full transparency, I'd been going to a ritzy Buckhead salon and paying $700 for a full foil, cut. Yes. $700. I guess I thought pay more, better quality? NO. I booked with Marlo for a full foil. Nobody had ever done a full foil and style on me in under 5 hours. Nobody. Marlo had me foiled, glazed, washed and styled in 2.5 hours flat. And the color was completely unmatched. I've never had a better ashy but vibrant blonde. Did I mention only $135?!? The general vibe of this place is just perfect. Beautiful layout, friendly receptionist and employees, efficient and down to earth. If you're looking for a place with a clean but elegant atmosphere that won't financially ruin you, please book here ASAP! They are an absolute rare gem in Duluth. I truly had to take my time to process what happen to me at this salon, i had always colored my hair at home and decided to book a consult to even out my hair from all old colors. I had a consult with Britney, talked about a plan doing one color instead of highlights. Britney told me she wasn't gonna be available to do it but recommended another lady which i do not remember her name but remember what she looked like. I booked my appointment a week later to get my hair done and walked into the appointment with a completely different lady which was Arihanna. I told her the history of my hair from color, time and all. I came in with dark hair and some lighter brownish in some spots. She proceeds to tell me again recommending doing one color and i agree she told me the bleaching process would truly decide what color we could get out of my hair. Mind you i'm pregnant and i told her i have work the next day and my baby shower was in a couple of days. She does the bleaching and once the first wash started i stayed by the sink the whole time and could not see myself. While being over there she told me after the bleaching she was gonna tone my hair twice and then the color which she told me would be dark brown, proceeds to only tone once and then just puts the color on my hair. This whole time i am not able to see myself or my hair i took pictures between the bleaching process but trusted the process as i am not a hair stylist. Once she washes the color she takes me to the chair to dry it i see my hair and it seems to be uneven and orangish. I let her fully dry my hair and it is already an hour pass closing and i see my hair and it is completely ruined. It was no where near dark brown, in that moment i couldn't be more disappointed as i had work and a big event coming up. With the time and and everything i knew i would have to come back to get it fixed. So i just went to the front and she proceeded to want to take pictures of my hair and tell me how good it turned out. At my consult britney told me it would be around $240 i made sure to put it in my notes so i knew for next appointment. But also i discussed with them that the money from my consult they said would go towards my payment. I assumed if anything changed they would tell me during my appointment, they did not. Not once did the hair stylist tell me anything about the price change so once i got to the front and she tells me $313 is the total they added 4 additional charge that were like $20 each and never told me while getting my hair done. I would have been okay knowing the price changed and more product was used but it was never communicated to me. I knew immediately i deserved a refund not only did she ruin my hair but as well as she wasted my time and money. Once i got home i took picture of my hair and i had dye on the side of my face, forehead and even dye and bleach powder on my ear. I had to take off work and came in first thing in the morning to speak to someone, i was able to talk to the assistant manger. It didn't seem really as if she cared she just listen to my story of what had happened and said it definitely wasn't a dark brown and said she would have someone fix it for me. I had to come back 3 hours later so someone could fix my hair thankfully kim was able to fix my hair and she said that it was not going to be one color but she could get it fixed. Went back to dark as it seemed like the only option to look decent again. I looked normal again i truly was better off keeping my hair the way it was before even coming in, i will never return and would never recommend coming here. I couldn't even get a sorry from the employee who ruined my hair in the first place.which is the the person that was in the station right next to me while i was getting my hair fixed and had multiple opportunity's to apologize. This was my first visit to Salon 124 in Sugarloaf. My stylist was Andrea (I think that was her name, she introduced herself but I am horrible with names). Nevertheless, she was fabulous. I showed her what I wanted and she 100% delivered. She was super friendly and had great conversations. I've only had one stylist in my 40yts of life that has 100% gave me the look I was looking for. Salon 124 is the step-up sister salon to Genesis and was close so decided to give it a try. The staff was very nice and professional and the wait was not too long for a very impatient person as myself. I was there for color and my stylist Cali matched my color perfectly. I came here because my friend consistently has beautifully styled hair and when I asked her about it, she told me Shaina at Salon 124 Sugarloaf is her stylist. So, of course, I made an appt with Shaina :) She was very friendly & easy to talk to, and did a fabulous job on my hair! I already made my return appt for 6 weeks from now **the only thing that needs improvement is that I had to call several times on two different days before anyone answered the phone. Unfortunately, I was in town due to the totally unexpected death of a family member. I had to miss my scheduled haircut in the San Francisco Bay area (already a few weeks overdue,) because of flying into town. I only had a few hours and I was desperate for a haircut. Still, I did not want my hair ruined. At first, I walked into another salon and knew it wasn't for me. Luckily I then checked Yelp, read the reviews, and drove to this salon. They couldn't take me for a couple of hours but if I changed clothes for the "receiving of friends," I could go directly from the salon and make it in time. Taylor met me promptly and talked with me about what was working and not working with my hair. I told her why I needed a haircut and what type of haircut I didn't want. She proceeded to work her magic and I received an absolutely awesome haircut! The ironic thing? She had scheduled someone for a 3-hour appointment. She realized that it would only take about 2 hours and had just told the front desk that she had an opening just right before I walked in. If not, there would have been no appointment. I was really nervous trying out a new salon but a coworker suggested I try this place out and I'm glad I did. I walked in about 20 minutes early and looked at some of the magazines for inspiration and to my surprise my stylist, Molly, was more than willing to start my appointment before the scheduled time. The salon is gorgeous very modern with up to date coloring technique machines & reclining massage chairs you get to sit in while they shampoo your hair with the best smelling mint shampoo the smell even lasted a day after my appointment! I had my long locks shampooed, cut & styled for around $45 (not bad compared to the salons I'm used to going to.) My daughter had a disappointing and expensive experience there today. She wanted to color her hair and made an appointment. She was looking for a consult color and cut, and explained when she made the appointment that she has a lot of hair. Well, the quality of color is good but it's not all I over like she wanted. It's not even to the root. And because of the time it took given the length and volume of hair she was told by Kendra,the stylist, that she didn't have time for a cut. For the price I paid I'm really not satisfied with my haircut. The first thing I was told when I sat down is that we have to avoid the mom cut and the mushroom and I look like I have both. I specifically asked on the phone if the stylist I was booking with books multiple clients at once with color processing etc- because I have extremely thick hair- and was told they did not do that... when I arrived however my stylist was double booked. My wife's 1st time there was amazing and she felt very welcomed and that's why she made a 2nd appointment based on the stylist's recommendation. fast forward to today, she just called me weeping when 2 hairstylists and staff treated her like garbage and not worthy of their time. One particular hairstylist gave her the up-and-down look and refused to service her with no explanation, she just turned her back and said "No". I wasn't going to write a review because the Salon did refund my money for the highlights that turned my hair orange/yellow done by Terre Saye. Terre - turned my hair orange when I went back to have it fixed she threw a bunch more highlights in. She was completely flustered juggling two customers and clearly didn't want to fix my hair. She put more highlights in and under processed my hair. Now I am tri colored - blonde - orange - yellow. I am naturally dark blonde. . When I text her the second time to let her know I was still seeing orange this is the response she sent me (see below). Well clearly I will find another stylist. The hair cut was pathetic as well. So in order to preserve my already very fine hair A TRUE PROFESSIONAL turned me on to Fanola shampoo to TONE THE YELLOW. She also recommended that I wait to put MORE chemicals in my hair to not cause FURTHER damage. So every day I look in the mirror . So here is my warning/review. Also the most astonishing part is when I paid for the service Terre said her prices were going UP as she was advancing "tiers". Hi Heidi, I'm so sorry to hear that. I have done your hair twice now and feel like maybe I just can't make you happy. If you want we can have the desk refund your money for the original appointment. Lindsey was great super sweet, fun, and made me feel secure. Very professional I definitely recommend her. I came in wanting to tone my ash blonde to silver and add some depth to my already ombre look. Lindsey was honest to tell me they were having issues getting the silver look but she was going to try her best to get me as "ash grey" as possible. She did exactly as she said. Although I am not at the silver level I desire the grey ash is definitely visible. The low lights she did are exactly what I wanted. Lindsey told me she was going to communicate with the color trend specialist to get tips on how she can get me the silver ash level I'm looking for. I appreciate her honesty and her professionalism. So I was really debating on writing a review because I never do so but I feel the need to warn other potential victim of a very bad hair day. Especially because we are a couple days away from my daughter's wedding. My daughter had went with a stylist name Terre, she explain to her all that she wanted done to her hair witch included hair color and extensions. The stylist said ok we can do that for you just come in and we can go over what you will need done. She proceed to explain to her only about her needing to get her haircut in layers to get extensions put on, but never explained she will need to come back like 4+ Session to reach the color she needs done or how much that will cost her. My daughter has been to this Salon before and got something similar done a couple years back (not extensions just color) they stylist did a great job. The stylist she wanted was book so she figured that she would give Terre a try. But almost 3 sessions into it and she is looking like a stray cat! Her hair looks nothing like she wants and last minutes Terre tells her she can't do extensions anymore because her hair is to thick. This is something that as a stylist should have told her in her consultation not almost $500 dollars later days before her DIG DAY!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! So we end up calling the salon Saturday and talk to the manager Casey. Casey explained to her what the situation was and she was trying to blame it on the very little blue color my daughter had on her tips of the hair which was mostly cut off on the unwanted layered hair cut since she last minute said we can no longer do extensions. She proceeded to explain things that didn't make since to me but I really try to understand the reasoning as a customer because I am not a person who ever complains to a business unless it serious like this. But I would think them as a business would be like we are sorry for you bad experience and offer a full refund but she was saying the she can only do 1/2 which I was ok with at first but when I seen she wasn't even giving me back 1/2 of the refund and was adamant that's all they can give me back. I was like ok. Then can you please let me speak to the owner or someone a general manager she said let me see who that would be. So she gives me the general managers number. I talk to him and explain to him all over again the situation and he comes back and again they try blaming it on the very small blue she had in her hair. I am already getting kinda frustrated and I told him to at least give me $300 back and he said he can't do that because he will be loosing money and that he already paid his stylist. I'm over here like what the heck you just ruined my daughters hair and her big day and I'm about to loose a lot of money in the process. Like what!! What type of customer service is this. He then said ok I can do $275. Which was half of what I asked for back so I took it. But I felt they were really insensitive of our situation Casey calls back to get my info for the refund but she didn't sound to happy that he gave me the refund and didn't even say we are sorry or gave us any sympathy for their big mistakes. I honestly will never go back because of this experience with how they handle themselves. Very unprofessional and the are very unsympathetic about our their mistake. We are literally calling every stylist and everyone is book. So thank Salon 124 for ruining the biggest day of my daughters life. Made a yelp just to write this review. The woman who gave me a hair cut was rushing through the whole thing, I felt very unwelcomed. She spent all of 5 seconds listening to me say what I wanted. Barely glanced at a reference photo that I had... I wanted my side and under cut reshaved and some side bangs and layers. Bangs became 4 inches taken off the side of my head, no actual side bangs, and none of the length was consistent. Not worth the price. The girl that did my hair didn't do what I asked. Then tried to charge me for services I didn't get. When questioned, she had an answer and I was still charged. She left dye on my face and neck. She had no personality and I spent more time with the assistants than with her. Was not concerned with her language when joking with other stylist. I heard the "f" word several times. First and last time I will go to this salon. I can spend less than $400 at another place and get better service and cut. I travel constantly for work, so maintaining my hair is always a source of anxiety because I have to go to different salons. I wish I could bring this salon with me. Cali did beautiful highlights in my hair to brighten it up without damaging it. All of the staff here were so nice and friendly that I even recommended this salon to all of my coworkers that travel with me.
