Most days I can figure out a simple liner, but for special occasions, I need to hire an expert to help guide my path to pretty. I've had good experiences with MAC in the past, and turns out, this one was no different. Located strangely far away from the rest of the makeup kiosks inside Macy's, MAC is conveniently right next to Michael Kors, which made me feel right at home. I arrived before my scheduled appointment, and even though I was early, they took me immediately. My makeup artist was Jesse, a friendly, bubbly guy, with perfect skin, and flawless eyelashes. We chatted for awhile, I showed him photos of my desired ideas, hair and dress, and then I took a seat. Through a process that I can only describe as better than Disney magic, he turned what walked in as a 2, into a solid 8+. He took guidance in things I wanted highlighted or changed, helped consult with me on skin color matching, and even gave me tips on how to use brushes. I was confident putting my face in his competent hands for a very important event, and he did not let me down. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Jesse at MAC and have him do my makeup again for any other events in the future, and have only good things to say about my experience.

I did want a shorter cut but not a bad cut, maybe I should have spelled it out for her (I guess I am not scissor literate or something but its just not a great cut). I probably should have realized this when they scheduled me for a next day service- there was no wait time? Either way there are better salons, I can probably trim my own hair to even it out but proceed with caution if you have not been here before.

I do get pedicures often and the last time I went to a salon my sister recommended they over filed and over cut my toenails to the point it hurt when it started to grow out. My goal was to let my natural nails grow for a few months. I was assigned to a new nail tech who spoke no English - not usually a problem. The frightening part of this experience came when she tried to sand down my nails with electric tool used to remove the gel. She began using this sanding tool on my nail which caused instant sensitivity to my finger. I asked her to stop & the owner-manager came over. Not much was said to me & no apologies. This woman showed the tech how to remove the remaining gel polish by soaking my nails with a cotton ball & acetone, wrapping in foil, and then scraping with hand tool. The tech didn't understand the technique, so she poured more acetone on my nails. The owner-manager removed the polish, cut, & filed my nails. The tech began trimming my cuticles & area around the nails but caused pain. I tried to pull away & she held my finger tightly. I stood up & walked out because of the poor communication between all of us and the fear that this inexperienced tech would injure me. New techs need to learn, but they need to be responsive to the customer. There are health & safety risks to these procedures. This salon does not value the voice of the customer & is NOT committed to safety protocols. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I called and got an appointment for the time that I requested. I was even a few minutes late and it was no big deal. Edward and I had a constructive conversation about how I wanted my hair to look and he went to work. This is honestly the best hair cut I have had in a decade. Exactly what I wanted!
