After not finding Wella powder bleach on the shelf, I asked the clerk if they sold it, she came to show me and the other worker, a male, told her where it was but the shelf was empty. I got other things and went to checkout. As the nice female clerk (who was new) was ringing me up, I noticed Wella bleach on the shelf behind her so I said there is the Wella bleach right there. She turned around but could not reach or see it. She said she had asked the other guy if they had it back there and he said they didn't. I was going to pay cash but changed my mind since the purchase was so large (because I had picked up some display items before seeing the bleach). and decided to use my CosoProf card. She didn't know how to change the purchase to card from cash so she asked the guy. He said once it was rung up, there was no way to change it. I asked if it was possible to return the items then pay with the card. He said "I guess we could do that but i would advise you to be sure how you want to pay next time."
I shouldn't have to justify why I changed my mind on my payment method. I told him that I didn't realise the bleach was so much and with large purchases, I like to pay with my card. He said well, they can do a price check on anything in the store. But normally, a price check is unnecessary because the prices are below the items on the shelf but you can't see them behind the counter.
(So, I feel the need to explain here. I initially came to Sallys to get Wella bleach and that was it. Since they didn't have the bleach, I thought I'd try the L'oreal highlift reds for my client so I wouldn't have to bleach her hair since they didn't have wella. Also, the guy came and told me that if I didn't see some of the reds on the shelf, they had it behind the counter, indicating to me, like when he told the girl where to look for the bleach, that he knew where things were. So I got one of those and since I wasn't spending as much money without the bleach, I thought I'd try some display product of a new brand. When I saw the bleach behind the counter, I decided to keep the other stuff and still get the bleach.)
So, I told the guy (without raising my voice or being nasty) since he wants to tell me what I should do for next time maybe next time he should not tell the other girl that there was no wella on the shelf behind the counter because she specifically asked you. He said they have several different sises of wella bleach and I didn't say what sise I wanted. When I started to talk again, he said do you want to speak to the manager, do you want to speak to the manager, I said no, I just want you to listen to me like I listened to you but he kept cutting me off. I said no, I didn't say what sise I wanted, you just should have told me that you had some back there. Apparently, he must have pressed that button on his necklace to call in the security guard that I was causing problems and he wanted me to leave the store. I was flabbergasted and so was the other clerk because we looked at each other at the same time with our mouths open. So I said fine, get the manager. Then he said "no, I'm not finished talking!" So the security guard asked what the problem was so when the nice clerk and I began recounting to the guard what happened, the guy became even more mad that the security guard didn't just kick me out the store seeing as I was calm and rational, the guy got mad and said if he wouldn't make me leave, he was going to call 911. I said you asked me if I wanted to speak to the manager so I do. The security guard said this didn't warrant calling 911. I told the security guard that the male clerk really was just trying to be right even though he was being ridiculous. The lady clerk told him that I was nice the whole time and it was really "him" (the male clerk) and she doesn't know what his problem is. I asked the lady clerk if the manager was back there because the guy never went to the back, he just paced up and down the aisle talking to 911 trying to convince them that there was someone in the store that was causing a problem. The girl said the manager is not even back there but she lives close by. Again, I was flabbergasted. I said then why did he keep saying did I want him to get the manager??? I said since she is not there, I'll bring back what I don't need at a later date and in the meantime, I'll call the manager myself when she is available if you can write her name down and the time when it is best to call. The girl gave me my change and I left.
The guy clerk was mean, rude, plus livid when he could not have me thrown out of the store. I get the feeling he thinks he can just be rude to people then have them removed if they respond in kind. I am a cosmetologist and I patronise this store frequently. I even have encountered this male clerk before and I remember specifically that he charged a mist bottle to me and put it in my bag although someone else left it on the counter. I had been meaning to bring it back but never read more
