The manager was referring to a deep waver. Now if you are unfamiliar with these products you may not understand the difference, but this is a beauty supply store. They should understand that deep and jumbo do not mean the same thing. The words are on the front of the package. It doesn't get much clearer. I was extremely disappointed since I had to travel such a distance to get to the store, especially when reassured by the manager that they carried the product I wanted. Lesson learned: TRUST NO ONE

They have a team of great stylists and an easy online booking system. They do have a big customer base where sometimes you have to reserve a few weeks in advance for the stylist you want. There are different prices in regards to which stylist you want (based on their experience). I've gone to Salon de Elephant numerous times and have gotten cuts from Kei, Michael and recently Maria. Each time I've gone all stylists have been professional and friendly. I tend to go for the same hairstyle and each stylist was able to cut my hair to my liking. The hair wash and massage is always a treat - definitely a great head massage as you lie back and relax. Overall, great salon if you're looking for something around the Willowdale area! Will be returning for my next haircut.

The part of my in store shopping experience that made me reflect on allyship was seeing a Support Trans People booklet in the store. It was a subtle yet effective way to remind people that trans rights are human rights, and trans folks and their allies are every bit a part of this space too. The booklet is written and designed by Lush Cosmetics with support from Nikki Mia and the National Center for Transgender Equality. In May 2021, the Canadian Census reported that there are more than 100,815 people with a lived trans experience in Canada. This booklet provided tips for acting in solidarity with trans and non-binary people which includes not tolerating disrespect and choosing to educate individuals responsible for the harmful behaviour.

The conversations I have each visit are amazing! Brandon taught me about using toner and putting on my facial creams while it's still moist and he's honestly saved my skin. Meanwhile Fran, Francesca, Sam, Roza and Hanna have helped me with finding the right body cleansers, facial cleansers and hair products. Throughout the past year, with their help, I've been able to find products that actually work for me long term and don't upset my skin with the changing seasons. Also, I am so proud to say that I can officially go DAYS without washing my hair and it doesn't look gross at all. No Drought is a life saver. Recently met new staff, Renee, and she really makes a great addition to the team. Awesome customer service, amazing bubbly attitude, and she taught me something new within literally two minutes of chatting so I can be a smarter consumer. The employee who was working there this afternoon was very helpful. He helped my sister pick out rollers and he gave me tips on how to improve my hair dying technique. The products they sell here are affordable and if you purchase their membership card ($5), you can save 10-15% on your purchases. If you're looking to find the typical brand name beauty or hair product, you won't be able to find them here. I'm not sure why but they sell brands that I have never heard of before.

I went in the other day to pick up some hair and nail stuff. I was surprised at how small the store was, having only been exposed to the chain in the states. The guy working there- can't remember his name - was fabulous and helped me pick out some stuff that did the trick even though they didn't carry what I'd originally come in for. All in all I am super excited that Sally's is here and even though they don't have everything that they do down south, it works!
