Adjacent to the divine dessert space is a full restaurant owned by the same. We ventured here prior to our sweet fix. There are so many deliciously described dishes on the menu but tonight was a consensus for pizza! All of the pies were big enough for more than one person so we shared. The menu does have multiple courses that have fresh seafood along with other proteins. Our server was patient and educated. This was walking distance from our hotel but it seems like you would be able to park across the street at the beach (I think). My pizza was really without cheese and the olives and capers and anchovies was a pleasing combination. The crust was light and chewy and had just a slight crunch from the char on the bottom. We started our Amalfi Coast adventure in Minori on a Saturday morning and our first stop was Sal de Riso. There were so many incredible desserts to choose from it was so hard to narrow down our choices & chocoholic me I couldn't just try one. We stopped here for gelato after hiking Path of the Lemons. For a pastry shop with so many desserts, I would have imagined that it would create at least a few good gelato flavors. Nope, they only had the standard flavors. The only flavor that was remotely interesting was "Fichi d'India" which translates to "Indian Fig". I wasn't sure what that was, but looked it up, and it was prickly pear. I liked that flavor. The various other flavors we had, such as pineapple (1 star off), strawberry (1 star off), and even lemon (1 star off) tasted artificial. We ordered two flavors for each person, which we assumed to mean one scoop each. They brought out three scoops for each person, randomly picking which flavor to double down on, and charged us for three flavors/scoops each. This review is for the pastry only. I'm quite sure I don't get the hype. The room is pretty and the pastries are well decorated and presented but that's as far as it goes. The famed Delizia al Limone, for all the various lemon ingredients it boasts, tastes oddly muted. Not too surprising, really, since the pastry teems with an abundance of fluffy whipped cream. Dairy dulls the flavor of citrus so what else should I expect? Add to that a complete lack of textural contrast and you have a pretty little ball of soggy cake and over aerated whipped cream. The only miss in a month of traveling through Italy. Cold service and very bad gelato - freezer burned and artificial tasting. I know they are famous for their pastries, but if you are going to sell gelato, it should be on par with all of the delicious gelato we tried elsewhere. read more

Had a chance to hike the Path of Lemons "Sentiero dei Limoni" where I went from Minori to Maiori and stopped at Sal de Riso for lunch. So so so good! The indiavolata was amazing! 5 starts for to go desserts. Top of the line pastries and home made liqueurs. Disappointing for lunch. Was recommended this place due to the view and the amazing food. View entirely obstructed by one truck parked on the street in front (seating is ground level so the "view" is only present when you are standing up.) Menu is via QR code. Problematic for such a huge menu. Took about fifteen minutes of maneuvering to get a hard copy for my vision impaired older mother since she could barely read the menu on the tiny screen of my phone. Was very exciting by the vegan options-including vegan lasagna! I haven't had a good lasagna in years and was super excited. It was very creamy but flavorless. Like, no flavor except from the Vegetables. As someone who usually finds everything too salty, I was shocked at having to add salt and pepper to an entree to make it tasty. My mother got the vegetable platter which had a nice assortment of veggies. Everything was over cooked to near mush with (again) pretty much no flavor. Nice olive oil drizzle, but minimal seasoning. Service was attentive but rushed and easily flustered. Our beginner Italian was not enough even for ordering by pointing at the menu....one out of the four servers on duty spoke English so once he came on shift ordering got faster after the previous servers gave up on us after the question "what is a piada?" I was excited to see the option of a vegan mokachinno. Been eyeing those in cafes for days and envying them. Was very disappointed that the only chocolate was a light dusting of cocoa on top, none inside as described on the menu. Also, even though I clearly stated multiple times that I was vegano, my vegan mokachinno was accompanied by a tiny butter cookie that I couldn't eat. Wonderful that they have milk alternatives for the drinks, bummer that there was no milk-free accompaniment. My mother had a lemon cake that she said was fantastic and worth the mediocre meal. Saw this place on a travel show and decided to check it out. We were a bit worried it might not live up to the hype or be overly touristy, but we were so glad we stopped! Not only are the desserts works of art, but they are equally delicious and very reasonably priced! The menu is HUGE and can be a bit daunting to go through, but that's really the only downside. This is a very busy place inside and out with an outdoor seating area across the street next to the beach. It was hectic inside with no one to direct you. The store itself was beautiful with so many items to choose from but I had come here for one thing, the Monoporzione. I was so disappointed after one bite, I ate no more. This place is so magical! My first visit was on a day of pouring rain, so we sat inside. Plenty of seats available, and service was prompt. We ordered a two pizzas to share and a few pastries and coffees. I remember everything being excellent. The cute coffee presentation game is strong here! I also love the gift shop area. Lots of cute things to look at, and many items are legit nice gifts to take home. My second visit this year was a much sunnier day. This time we noticed a huge patio area across the street. So many tables, and so close to the water! Great place to hang out. Plus the area was covered so you wouldn't bake in the sun. This time the two of us each ordered a cocktail. Umm HIGHLY recommend ordering a cocktail here. Not only were they yummy, but apparently you get an adorable and equally yummy tasting platter! Sal de Riso is dessert lovers dream come true and an award winning business for good reason. Located in the small town of Minor in the Amalfi coast, it's worth a visit if you're in the area! The shop is located along the main street along the beach. You can enjoy an aperitivo in the piazza across the street overlooking the sea or inside. Definitely go in side to at least see all of the beautiful desserts. In addition to their award winning pastries (which many local restaurants also feature on their menus) they also serve gelato and have a food and drink menu. The Ricotta e Pere cake is a must and it's what put them on the map. Their sweet, whipped ricotta is featured in many of their desserts and it's AMAZING. I don't even have a sweet tooth-this place is my all time favorite dessert shop. Add it to your bookmarks if you're planning a trip to the Amalfi area. read more

I'm a huge pistachio nut (hehe) and these guys deliver! Tons of desserts to choose from, all at around 5 Euros each. The gelato here is fantastic and runs about 2 Euros a scoop. My personal favorite is the cheesecake. Also, funny enough is the mojitos here are super good. Sit outside for an ocean view. It's right across the street from the beach, really nicely appointed and they have quick service. What a wonder of arts for the senses. Every part of my being was awakened by the very air circulating in this pastry palace of decadence. Oh how I long to return and simply beg just to watch such confections being created! I could take my place quietly on a stool, lean against a counter, press my face against a glass or peep through a seam in the door! Naturally while vacationing in Italy, I had to visit this wonder of worlds and clutch my invisible pearls in glee and fright. I was afraid I would seem to eager and insane to request such a large volume of pastries for a single person. However none of that occurred. As I dreamily made my rounds - my greedy eyes devouring every little chilled and baked magic cakes displayed, I couldn't help but think of relocating to the area lol. Oh the cakes, oh the gelatos and fan fair. They even had a cute desk where one could leave a note. The staff so attentive and understanding when you go a bit overboard with the gelato samples, encouraging and supportive as the simple act of making cake selection becomes a life decision. On my stars and cakes, Sal even had pastry insipered perfume that actually smelled amazing and not cheap and gimmicky. As a huge sweets lover, I was in pure heaven. There isn't much to do and aren't too many places to eat in Minori, so we ended up here for dinner on two separate occasions. The second visit failed to meet already low expectations. The tuna tartar was edible, the pizza diavola was worse than you can get at a truck stop. It tasted worse than it looked, if that's at all possible. Got the 20 euro charcuterie board on the second visit, and had quite possibly the worst meat and cheese available in Italy. One of the meats was mortadella, ugly and tasteless, and the prosciutto was so rubbery, it seemed like month-old leftovers. Separately, got a little pistacchio pastry to go, and it was fine, but definitely far from the best dessert one can have in Italy. At least it wasn't month-old leftovers. To top it off, everyone on staff acts like they're doing you a favor, bringing you revolting, overpriced food. read more

It's a pastry shop at heart, and there are dozens of varieties of cakes, pies, and other sweets to try. The cheesecake we tried was great and I don't even like cheesecake. It's thinner and less sugary than the American version, but boasts a lot of flavor. The pizza is more American though. New York pizza draws from the Napoli area, so this isn't a shock. However, the fresh ricotta dolloped on top will easily remind you where you are. Someone looking for gifts would do well to check out the boxed chocolates and liqueurs they sell. This famous pasticceria, located on the town of Minori's main strip, is extremely busy with visitors and has a huge selection of desserts to choose from. The delizia al limone was really good, as was the crunchy Neapolitan sfogliatella (riccia). The sfogliatella (frolla) was ok, it has a softer texture which my husband really liked but it wasn't my favorite. You can eat in or carry out, including coffee. Parking is a nightmare in this area so plan accordingly if you're driving. After multiple futile attempts to park we decided to just buy pastries and take them to go (my husband had to drop me off so I could go in and buy the pastries while he drove around before picking me up again). read more

During our first hour in Minori, my boyfriend and I had already ascended (with luggage) and descended 20 flights of stairs in the 85+ degree and extremely high humidity weather so we were ready for some well-deserved Italian gelato. On our way into the town, our driver recommended Sal de Riso to us so we went straight here without a thought. It's really confusing. We really just wanted to order gelato on a cone to take across the street so we could find a shady spot overlooking the sea, but we had no idea what to do. We did find the gelato counter in the back, but after waiting for 10 minutes in line we were told that we had to order first and bring the receipt. The place doubles as a sit down restaurant, gelto shop and souvenir shop so the lines were long at the registers in the front, which is where we assumed we were supposed to order. We ended up just being seated on the outdoor patio to be served because at this point all we wanted was something cold. Our waitress didn't speak English, but pointing at the menu worked well-enough. Luckily, the menu was also written in English on the back of each page so we were able to pick out what we wanted with ease, which wasn't the case at all places on the Amalfi Coast! While the gelato was refreshing, it came out a bit hard and not as soft as I expected gelato to be. The taste was great, but I felt like I was eating normal ice cream, which was a little disappointing. read more
