Wonderful staff! Curbside-style parking that always makes me concerned that we will be blocked in. Generous portions and lots of 'extras': lite soy sauce on the table, fresh bottle of Yum Yum sauce served with food, beautiful rosette in tuna, spiral carrots, oyster shell, stem glasses, fancy light cubes, roe, black sesame, and egg garnishes. Really busy with drive-thru and to-go pickup orders. Dine-in service was prompt and hot. About half the sashimi was gritty. Wasabi is mild. Had to get our own menus and utensils as the staff asked us to seat ourselves and no one brought these things to us. read more

Ordered two rolls from here, crispy roll and spicy girl. Also ordered sashimi sampler. Notably there was a drive-thru, which is what I did. Surprisingly, food came out fast and the owner was very friendly and nice. Pretty decent place, and interesting convenient way to get take-out sushi. read more

We just moved to VA a few months ago and have been craving sushi . We moved from CA where there's some really good sushi places. However also very expensive. Anyway I searched places near me and this place popped up. I won't lie, the fact that it had a drive through worried us a bit. We planned on dining in and that's what we did. First of all, I didn't catch her name but our waitress was very sweet and has an excellent memory! We ordered drinks appetizers, salads, soups and 5 different sushi rolls and she never wrote down a thing !!! How the heck does she do that ! Haha. Our fried calamari was sooo good and our sushi was delicious! We ordered shrimp tempura, Philadelphia roll and my husband ordered something with 3 different types of fish and he loved it ! Staying in Waynesboro one night on a girls wine weekend. We love sushi and found this place. We were surprised to get there and find the dining room closed and there was a drive thru. We decided to give it a whirl. Glad we did. They were pretty quick (but not so quick you would assume it wasn't freshly made). The Veggie tempura was fresh, hot and well made. The fried rice was full of veggies, tasty and came with yum yum sauce. The sushi was great! Seafood tasted fresh! Good flavor, put together well, seasoned perfectly. If we're ever down in the area again we'll definitely be back! read more

We have lived near Waynesboro for many years and this was our first time trying Sakura. It was great! The sushi was fresh and the service is friendly. Our kid loved the cucumber sushi, her first time having sushi in a restaurant, it ended up ordering a second serving. She loved the rice as well. The only miss for us was that the miso soup was rather weak and sweet tofu ordered for dessert was lacking rice that I was used to. We will definitely be back soon! read more

The Sakura in Waynesboro is great!! There's a hidden gem to this Japanese restaurant, if you drive around to the back of the building - they actually have a drive-thru that appears to have everything on it that you'd order if you were dining in. Unfortunately, do to the surge in COVID-19 and the labor crisis everywhere at this time their hours have been cut down and they are closed on Mondays. If I had any questions about the days and hours of operation, I would give them a ring. Also my last visit indicated they are doing drive-thru only and no dine ins at this time. Just terrible! Everything was so bland. The inside is not open, so it is currently take out only, which we didn't know before coming. The food really was awful, worst hibachi my husband has ever had. He said you couldn't pay him to eat there again. And way too expensive for what you get!! We had one appetizer of tempura shrimp (which had only three shrimp), three sushi rolls, and one hibachi, and it was $75 dollars before tip. Yelp was misleading with this one. Stopped in on a Saturday evening to a quiet atmosphere. The drive thru was busier than inside. Started off with the miso soup and ginger salad which both lacked flavor. The sushi we ordered was okay. I ordered a roll topped with crab and it was covered in imitation crab strings that overwhelmed the rest of the roll. The hibachi here was really the low part. The fried rice that came with it didn't taste fried at all. The hibachi was quite flavorless and didn't hit the spot. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient, hence three stars. read more

If you don't know the difference between Chinese and Japanese food, then you may like this place, because evidently the owners don't either. This was probably the worst Bento Box I've ever eaten. No tempura, which is a standard item, the rice was like Chinese fried rice, and a very large amount, maybe to compensate for the poor preparation? The sushi was soft and mushy and very dull, not shiny like fresh cut sushi. In fact, nothing really seemed fresh, more like prepared ahead of time. I would be cautious about ordering raw fish here. Don't waste your time. Japanese food is delicious, delicate, very fresh. This is Chinese food disguised as Japanese and a very poor imitation at that. read more
