Easily the worst sushi place I've been to. The service was not great and the place itself it's dirty and is needing a renovation asap. Its bright yellow walls don't make it any better.

I hope I don't get sick. The food is way off color. Not good

If I can give this place is zero, I would!!!!!!! This is probably the worst Sushi I've ever had in my life!!!! The sushi at a gas station with taste better than this! I didn't even finish my food because it looked way off and I hope I don't get sick. The waiter was so rude and I waited over an hour just to get my food and there was no one in the restaurant, and he never checked on me once! I paid for my sushi and didn't even tip and I have never done that. That's how bad the service and food were!!! Now I have to go eat somewhere else because I'm hungry. Be aware!!!!!!!

Finally tried the all you can eat option and was very impressed. The sushi isn't AMAZING but it's decent sushi that I would get again. The crab hand roll was delicious. I've also had their hibachi which is definitely not bad, the yum yum sauce is just a bit too much like plain mayo. The service wasn't as attentive as I would've expected from an all you can eat place, but he was nice! I would recommend going here if you're very hungry, it's a great price.

The service was so slow that you need to order everything at once or you will wait almost an hour in between the tiny servings. The kitchen items come out cold, like they were just in the fridge. I ordered the hibachi steak and it was so tough that I couldn't eat it. I ate the cold veggies because I was starving by the time the good got there. At no time were my husband and I eating together because the food does not come out together or at work any speed. If you want to just have sushi, this place may work for you but if you plan on ordering any cooked goods, look elsewhere because this place sucks.

I'm just here in Charlottesville for a day. Found this little gem. I came from LA, so $15 all you can eat sushi sounds like heaven to me, I thought there's some catch at first. People who complaining about the price. Go try yourself at LA, $35 per person before tax. They give out serious portion on the Teriyaki and Hibachi entrees, I almost can't finish, and it tastes decent. If I have a place like this in LA, I'd go every day. Those Hibachi is the perfect post workout meal.

I can't travel and not check out a sushi spot. What can I say? It's a weakness. And I'm a sucker for AYCE. Went with a few folks. The hostess asked if we had ever been before. Nope. We waited maybe 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. She explained the rules and answered our questions before seating us. A couple things different here than other AYCE sushi restaurants I've been to: *Instead of filling out the menu and giving it to your waiter/waitress, each person places their own order. (My only issue with this was I was given Tamago instead of Saba...I even told the waitress Mackerel when she expressed confusion about the other name...still good, though) *The cooked foods and rolls came out before the raw rolls. *Plates for sushi and rolls were smaller, as some items came out separately. *The time between placing orders is significantly longer. I didn't see the waitress nearly as often as I have at other locations. I highly recommend ordering multiple items in one go. The food was fresh and fairly tasty. Good fish to rice ratio. However, I would request extra sauce for some of the rolls. Our drinks were refilled once the entire time we were there.

Awful vibe and slow. Food wasn't terrible but definitely in my top 3 worst customer service experiences ever. Won't be returning.

Sushi is not the best. For 14.99 during lunch, not bad. You get what you pay for I guess

Another Yelper pointed out that the decor appears to be a repurposed Italian joint, but the silk flowers and wooden decor are an interesting mix, yet somehow it works. We dined in at 11:45 am and were given a menu that no longer had half of the items that appear on the Yelp page, so I was a little disappointed as I wanted a bento box - but the ramen was fantastic. I would have liked to have chosen the meat, but it came with pork, spinach, noodles, a very hearty and tasty broth, half an egg and x2 fish cake slices. I'll come back for dinner so to see if the menu changes.

Shrimp were like rubber could not even chew them up they seem to be store-bought really they're so bad right now even I look at them and they're terrible. The l Yokohama ramen was covered in terms of pork which was the main thing in the ramen the noodles were cold hard to eat and no flavor no soups in it one piece of seaweed about the size of a silver dollar. Overall I am completely disappointed and every part of the meal I do have one good compliment which is I left my wallet on the counter and return to find it in the same place which was good I just wish it would have been placed to the side so nobody could walk up and kick it. It was my fault for doing that but I really appreciate the person. I just returned my so-called Japanese food from last night because I have health condition I could not make it back out but it was so bad I had to take it back. The owner starts yelling at me so does the lady saying I fresh cooked all this there's no way in hell that was tempura shrimp and fresh cooked it was store-bought and I know what store-bought shrimp looks like and I'm going to bring him back a sample of it but neither one of them are from Japan at River bend in Japan and it doesn't even taste Japanese and most of the reviews I read thinking it's a Chinese place Chinese food doesn't take like this Japanese food doesn't take like this. The man continued to argue with me about how good it was in San he cooked it fresh he did not cook it there was only the woman in there and she was trying to say she didn't cook it and I walked back there to see it and she was cooking. Very disappointed he gave me half my money back which is not good business he has no understanding of Japanese culture at all people don't treat people like that in Japan I don't treat like people like that because I always felt like I was Japanese. Very disappointing

Very very nice lady (owner) and very helpful with the menu. - I had the chicken Pho ($16.50). I added the 2 included Hoisin sauce packets. It also came with a Sriracha sauce packet and a small container of chili oil along with the normal variety of noodles, sprouts, fresh herbs, green onions, white onions, jalapeño slices, and a lime wedge. The chicken was tender sliced white meat with no fat, gristle, or bones attached. The broth had a lot of flavor and was delicious. - I also had the shrimp and chive dumplings ($7.00). Not a strong shrimp flavor, but they had a nice crisp on the outside and were tasty. The sauce that comes with the dumplings is absolutely delicious. - My wife had the Bulgogi beef ($14.50). She said it was tender and very delicious. It came with rice, kimchi, and cucumber salad. I just happened to speak to Linh about the cucumber salad and she said this is how she's always made it for her kids and they love it. Well, I'm with her kids and love it too. She makes the vinaigrette herself and it has an unexpected sweetness to it instead of the usual strong vinegar flavor. We both loved it. - We had the pork gyoza ($7.00). This was cooked my favorite way, deep fried (not pan fried). This took me back to the gyoza in Japan and the Yaki Mandu I used to get in Korea. Great crispy wrapper with a tender flavorful filling. And again, the sauce that came with it is some of the best I've had. - The kimchi is not overly spicy and has a slight sweetness to it. - The Egg Tarts ($5.50) are good, not overly sweet. Could use a bit more filling for a better filling to pie crust ratio. - I also got a Chai tea bubble milk ($6.25) that was super delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed Nguyen's Kitchen and will go back with friends. It's unfortunate that it sits behind a Taco Bell and is not highly noticeable from the road, otherwise I might have tried it sooner.
