From an Asian familiar with both authentic Chinese/Japanese and quality Chinese-American foods: this place is really nothing special. I got the Teppenyaki Dinner with NY Strip, which came with salad and soup. The soup was fine, but the salad came with so much dressing that it was barely palatable. It only contained iceberg lettuce with a few other greens, making it very insubstantial. The dinner itself arrived with a side of stir fried vegetables, fried rice, and the hibachi steak. The fried rice tasted like generic Chinese-American fried rice, but had the unappealing texture of Rice-A-Roni. The sauce on the vegetables was outrageously salty, and the steak was just average. The portions were massive, but I ate only a small portion, declining a box for the rest since it was already hurting my stomach as I sat there. The service was curt, and somewhat slow. I cannot judge this against the area's offerings, as I am only here on business, but I cannot in good faith recommend this to anyone. read more

Horrible experience here. Just to preface, my family is Asian-American, and there is nothing about this place that is any sort of Asian or Japanese food. I came here for my birthday, and it was the worst mistake I've made. My mother got a few chinese stir fry dishes and 1) the mushrooms in one of the dishes were RAW and COLD on the inside, and 2) when she told our server about it, the response we got was a simple "well, if you wanted real chinese food, this isn't the place to get it. We cater to the white population here, so we cook the fake kind that they like". And she also denied the possibility that the mushrooms could be raw and told us "oh, theres no way". I ordered a sushi boat with sushi sliced so thick, you couldnt chew through it. It was obvious the fish had been sitting in the case for a few days. The "boat" came with one basic california roll, and 8 pieces of sushi, 6 of which were inedible because of a combination of the quality of the fish (chewy and not fresh at all) and how it was sliced (super thick). So basically I had a california roll and two pieces of OK sushi for $25. Our total bill came out to $70 for some shitty undercooked chinese food and what they like to call "sushi". We will never come back to this place, and don't recommend it to our worst enemies. They are a sorry excuse for an asian restaurant. Probably my favorite hibachi place. Lots to choose from on the menu. Great atmosphere. Awesome service. And they give you a BOTTLE of that delicious pink yum yum sauce. The fried veggies are also VERY good. read more

It was good! We have been wanting to try Sakura and stopped by last night. We didn't want to do the hibachi, just order a couple of dinners. They did a great job tuning the old bank into a restaurant. The ceiling is beautiful and there is a lot of glass tile on the walls. Whoever did the décor gets five stars. The only thing that killed the décor, was the Valentine's Day decorations, still up in July. Really? It was a hot summer Saturday night so the place wasn't very busy. Only a couple of the hibachi stations were being used (I think there are 8 total) and we were the only ones eating in the center area where you can order diners from the menu. My wife had the cashew chicken that came without any cashews! Just an oversight and they apologized and brought out a few in a small bowl. I has the General Tso's chicken. Both were very good and the plate presentation was excellent. The fried rice was average, but good. Our waitress brought the check and never asked if we wanted dessert so I can't comment on that. Overall, the décor is nice and the place is clean. The food is very good and presented beautifully. They just need to step up the professionalism, and it will be excellent. Went here with family. We enjoyed the hibachi "performance." The food was adequate not the best Japanese grill I've had but it was not bad.

I ordered three sushi rolls and a salad. The salad dressing was the absolute worst Asian salad dressing I've ever had; it was basically ketchup, mayo and ground carrots. This is not indicative of the actual traditional ginger dressing. It is a cheap shot and tastes exactly like bad Thousand Island dressing. As for the sushi, it was just average, and the scallions on my hamachi maki were flavorless (When were they sliced, last week?). The sliced ginger tasted faintly of mold - an indicator the serving container has been open too long.  There was no bottled gluten-free soy sauce available (Tamari is the industry standard).  By the way, even the wooden sushi bar itself was installed sloppily and incorrectly - it isn't level.  All objects tend to slide/roll away from the customer toward the Hoshizaki cooler - so weird. This place is being run by a lot of young people who are native Mandarin speakers and do not have enough proficiency in English to communicate with English-speaking customers. read more

Our first visit to Sakura was enjoyable-good food, fresh, fried items were not grease laden-both my husband and I were pleased with our meals. Service was excellent-very professional, and that is far from a given in this area. Looking forward to more visits! read more

I've been here twice since it has opened, once on a busy Saturday evening and once on a slow Sunday afternoon. Both times I was pleased with the service, the food, the entertainment and the portions. This was my first and last experience their. Food was very bland, one of the ladies in our group was eating her dinner and found a hair cooked in her broccoli ( yes it was wrapped around the broccoli). The waitress/manager came over looked at it and said it was a blonde and Japanese only have dark hair (no I'm not joking) but she did offer to make another one in which my friend refused saying she would just finish her egg roll. During the time the rest of us ate not 1 person came over to apologize for the inconvenience to our friend. When it was time to pay we all got a bill for our dinners and so did our friend that had the hair in hers, not the hunan chicken but yes they made her pay for the egg roll she ate. When we voiced our displeasure the waitress/manager said when she goes to American restaurants and gets hair in her food she doesn't say anything just pays for it. WILL NEVER GO AGAIN read more
