I am a member at Hand and Stone and I went to Sakura Foot Massage for some foot reflexology and now they have me thinking about cancelling my membership to Hand and Stone! If you're interested in getting a massage, but want to go with an option where you can stay clothed, this is the place for you. They have reclining seats that change into massage beds. You start off soaking your feet in warm water while they give you an arm/hand massage. They then remove your feet from the water, dry them, and then start with your foot massage. If you opt in for a back massage, they then turn you over for your back massage. Since finding this place a couple months ago, I think I've gone back 7 times already. Typically I'm pretty wary or places that don't have a website or active social media presence, but I had high hopes and it was clear they were the time of business to do things old school. So I called and inquired about pricing, hoping that had sometime same day for 2 people. We were able to be seen and quoted $40 for an hour foot massage. It was AMAZING! When it was done my boyfriend and I were shocked that it was so inexpensive They start you off with a foot soak, while you lay back on a pillow with a blanket, then a foot/ankle/calf massage (with strong hands!), ending with hot stones and towels, and I was so surprised when he asked me to go face down for a quick back massage. My fav foot reflexology place is in Boca, and I was looking for something a little closer. Sakura was recommended by a friend, so we decided to give it a try. Although I still prefer my OG place, Sakura was a good substitute. I wish they would do a little more neck and shoulder work, but overall it was pretty good and i will definitely go back. The only complaint that i have, is that my massage therapist answered several calls while working on my feet, which was a bit distracting for both of us. I've been here 3-4 times over the past 6 months, so I feel like I can give this place a solid review. This is a great spot for relaxation and worth every cent. For a one hour foot and body massage it's $35, but there is a slight discount if you go earlier in the day mid-week. The gentleman working at the desk is very pleasant. He escorted me back into the dark room, got me seated and settled in. I believe there was a nearby table that you could set your eye glasses or bag on. The massage chairs all recline and are quite comfortable. You are around other customers who are also being massaged, but it has never bothered me and don't worry you keep all of your clothing on! Your massage therapist starts off with stretching your arms, then the feet and legs. They eventually move on to your back and shoulders. It is a very tranquil 60 minutes and a nice opportunity to shut off your anxious brain. I've been here on my own, with my mom and with hubby. We all LOVED it here and thought it was the greatest thing! I didn't know how my husband would like this and worried he might be uncomfortable, but he thought it was GREAT. On the way out he was telling me how surprised he was that the hour went by so quickly. We plan to go back together at some point in the next few months. I'm always very skeptical when it comes to oriental massage as they always are mentioned in movies and T.V shows in a joking way the whole "happy ending" but I have to say that I really liked this place. It was calm and inviting and very clean. Not only was everything very intact, I specifically liked that they did not have curtains or rooms that separated the people, just because I always wonder what goes on behind the curtains/rooms. My family of four went to Sakura for foot massages on Mother's Day. One of the first things I noticed about Sakura was that it seemed more modern and clean than some of the other foot massage places I have been to. Even the bathroom was renovated. I walked in a little skeptical as I recently had a few bad foot massages. However after having a foot massage at Sakura, I regained my faith that a foot massage can be done right. First a short arm & shoulder rub, then feet, then the chair becomes a table for a brief back massage. Excellent massage! I believe the foot massages were $30/60minutes. I just went for an hour foot massage and stormed out of the facility after approximately 10 minutes. The man was definitely annoyed that he was stopped from folding laundry. The disgust was extremely audible from his breathing. The male specimen was extremely forceful on the anterior portion of my shoulders. He then abruptly swished the cool water around in the bucket removed my legs and basically dropped them on the ottoman. The final straw was when he started roughly rotating my leg and foot in an abusive manor. His massage, if you can call it that, on my leg was brutal and nothing relaxing or soothing. Having been to number of foot massage places, I really did like Sakura. The traditional formula is sit on ottoman in front of chair....get some back massage, then lay down to work on your feet. Sakura changes it up. Like other places you walk into a somewhat dark, quiet but communal space. Chairs at Sakura are lined up like an airplane (rows, and facing forward). The chairs are 2x wide first class chairs, big and comfy. They start you off by you sitting with your feet in a bucket of warm water. At first I was disappointed. Where's my f'n back massage? I had Mason, and man did he have some strong hands. He did some upper chest massage that just felt awesome. Switch now to the feet, and he did work on them for a bit longer than needed, but then again it's called 'foot massage'. But then, what's this?? Hot stones on my feet and calves?? Nice touch Sakura. Then they ask you to flip over..they straighten the bed, and it becomes like a massage table with the hole for your head. Then I proceeded to get one of the best massages I have had. Called on Thursday to see if they took walk-ins and he advised me that it would be better to make an appointment so I did for 6:30pm 2/21/2019, once I got there the front desk person advised me he'd be right with me, he came and got me and took me back for my 60 min. foot reflexology massage, this massage was one of my better foot massages the foot water was just the right temperature for my foot soak, will my feet were soaking he began to massage my shoulders and neck on both sides, he applied the right amount of pressure, which felt so relaxing I almost feel asleep, the he started on my feet, I'd advised him that I had, had an injury to my toe and needed special attention with the circulation and he said that he could add special attention to the toe and he did, his massage was gentle yet the right amount of pressure was applied I ended up falling asleep while he was working on my feet. I wish I could write a review on this place that is as positive as everyone else's, but...I just didn't think the experience was that great. Also, I've never had reflexology before, so it may just be that it isn't for me. Sakura is located in a small shopping plaza with easy parking. It doesn't actually say Sakura in the big letters above the store; I think it says Foot Spa. Anyway, I called ahead of time to find out if I needed to make an appointment. The man who answered the phone spoke very little English, so it was hard to communicate, but we figured each other out. My boyfriend and I walked in right at the time that was set up (6pm) and there was no one in the reception area. We waited a bit in the reception area looking around. It looks pretty typical of any small massage place. Dim lighting, candy bowl, mirror wall, drapes over the windows, etc. Since it seemed like no one was going to come out, I finally hit the little bell on the desk. An employee/owner (?) came rushing out of a back room and confirmed that we were the ones who called. He led us into the large back room with all of the recliner chairs. As he walked us back there I told him what we wanted. Again, communication felt kind of awkward, but we got through it. There was absolutely nobody in there, so we really didn't need to make appointments. My boyfriend and I were seated next to one another and asked to take off our shoes and socks. There is a little table next to the chairs to put your things on. The masseuse laid a blanket over my lap, placed a towel over my eyes, and put my feet into a bucket of water. Okay, I'm not going to continue taking you step-by-step. Here's the gist for a 30 min massage: they start with some hand/arm/shoulder stuff, then they move onto the feet/legs. Everything was very light, and that may be why I didn't find it as enjoyable (I like a lot of pressure). However, I did like when the hot stones were used. As someone else mentioned, they are very quiet and methodical about the way they work. Despite my boyfriend being seated one foot away, I couldn't hear his masseuse working on him at all. Also, I felt like both arms/feet got the exact same treatment/attention. Aside from not being impressed by the massage, I was sort of turned off by masseuse. I believe that when we walked in, they had just finished eating dinner. I say this because when I was being worked on, my masseuse had a strong garlicky smell (had they eaten from the Cuban place just a few doors down?). His stomach also kept making processing sounds and he would occasionally cough or let out a quiet burp that just released more of that gross after-dinner aroma into the air. (Can you sense how relaxed I was?) Anyway, I don't think this place is for me. Everyone was polite, professional, and I'm sure they did the massage the way it's supposed to be done, but...I feel like I've gotten better massages during a pedicure. My boyfriend, who gets way more relaxed than I do, felt the foot massage was okay, but was more into their hand/arm/shoulder massage. I've been going here every couple months for the last year or so. The decor is nice calm and relaxing. The staff is very nice and tentative to your needs. The massages are great, and The chairs are comfortable. If you get an hour massage, they'll work on each leg for about 20 mins or so, then allow you to flip over and work on your back for the remaining time. It's perfect if you workout often and need some relief. I remember have some back pain once that was shooting from my heel, to my upper back (yes, weird... I know. Lol). We took a chance that Yelp was right about walk-ins, even on a Saturday. Had to wait about 30 minutes, but he was very upfront about that. We did the 90 minute combo package, which we both enjoyed (I think my husband fell asleep, though he didn't admit it even though he was snoring a little). The music was relaxing and they spoke in very hushed tones so as not to take away from the ambiance. They set our feet to soak in a tub while they covered us with a blanket and a washcloth over our eyes to block out the small amount of light they had in the room. After working on our arms a little, they took our feet out of the water, dried them off, and put the bucket away. They worked on our feet and legs and then had us flip over to work on our shoulders and back. I wasn't able to get through on the phone to make appointments so my friend and I decided to just go in and they were able to take us both right away. I have to say it is worth every penny of the $30 it cost. They start with a quick few minutes of your hands and arms, then they start on your feet. Just excellent. Let me start by saying that finding a decent foot massage place in the States is pretty damn hard. To me, there's a difference between someone rubbing my feet after a stressful day and a foot massage. When I was living overseas in Taiwan, I had massage therapy weekly in combination with seeing alternative doctors for my immune system and psoriasis issues. With reflexology massage, the idea is that releasing the "bad energy" from certain pressure points would allow your entire body to heal, from the inside out. I've been to so many massage places that I know what to look out for, ie, is the person simply rubbing my feet or is he/she actually hitting all the pressure points. The massage therapist that I had for both of my visits was quite capable of locating pressure points and working out those knots. I know, weird, right? Knots in the feet. Years ago I would not have believed any of it. But ever since I started alternative healing methods, I've been made a believer! A quick note about the massage therapists here, from what I've seen, they're all older gentlemen. In Asia, it's a popular culture to call these older men "shi fu" or masters, meaning that they're quite experienced in their fields. They often believe in the proper use of strength to heal the body, pretty much the same as "no pain no gain". In the case of massage therapy, the pain is one of those "OMG it hurts so good" kind of pain. This place absolutely delivers on the pain that feels good. Before I leave for my travels abroad again, this will be my weekly session go to. The prices are more than reasonable, when you get a foot massage, you actually get 10 minutes of back massage, it's definitely a great value. I highly recommend the $10 scalp massage add-on. It makes me realize why my pets love it when I massage their heads lol. I think I almost purred when I got my scalp massage. Weird, I know. This place is a diamond in the rough! I've had great experiences every time I come here. We're always greeted by the owner, and we're quick to be seated. The room is very clean and well kept, and the chairs are really comfy too! The masters/massagers work really hard to make sure they find all of your knots and tight spots, and they always listen to what you have to say. In the hour you're there, you get a arm, lower leg, foot, back and neck massage. They even use hot stones on the tight areas on my legs, and a herbal rub on my husbands sore spots on his shoulders.
