I wandered in on a Tuesday, which was "sushi night" and I had to ask the hostess to clarify - yes, it really is all-you-can-eat. "Dang," I thought to myself, "you are totally unprepared for this challenge!" Filling in little ones and twos on the paper menu, the staff brought me pieces of salmon and ebi and eel and tempura and too many other things to remember. I think I topped out after two Asahi's and about 25 pieces of sushi. A pitiful performance on my part! All of it was fresh and was served quickly. The tempura was crisp and the veggies were still nice and crunchy underneath. While the wait staff made my empty plates disappear instantly, I didn't get the feeling that they were in any rush for me to finish up and leave. Bonus: there was a BT Openzone hot spot in range of my iPhone.

The chicken karaage is particularly good, as are the sides and appetisers such as the gyoza, spinach goma (sesame), and pickles. The curry katsu dishes are good too.

When the plate, yup...not a bowl, arrived (don or donburi literally means "bowl" in Japanese) I knew this was not going to even be close to traditional Katsudon. There was no broth. The broth is critical to create the sweet and umami flavor of Katsudon. It is traditionally made with dashi, soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in a shallow pan called a donburi pan. The rice, egg and pork were all separated on a plate. The pork was overly deep fried to extra crispy and drizzled with Tankatsu sauce. So, no bowl, no broth to soak into the breading of the pork and wrong sauce...nope, not even close to the flavor of traditional Katsudon, so I cannot recommend this item. Anyway, the sushi was okay. The restaurant was clean and service prompt and friendly.

The beef was tender and cooked perfectly and the sprouts still had the perfect snap when bitten into. The broth was so good that I finished most of that too. The chicken Gyoza starter was also delicious and the dipping sauce had the perfect balance of vinegar, soy sauce, and fresh ginger. My eyes lit up when I saw how generous the portions were and the prices are really decent for how great the quality of the food is. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and attentive as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants some authentic and super delicious Asian food. I'm probably going back tonight
