    Angel Roll

Decided to come here with my family for lunch, while we were staying in the area. Our waiter was incredibly nice and so hospitable. Before we ordered our meal, we got a salad with ginger dressing, which was good. We were all in the mood for sushi! I split the Love Boat for 2 with my mom and my dad got the Angel roll. The Love Boat was the perfect size for two people! The nigiri was so fresh and delicious. Along with the boat, we ordered a California roll and JMU roll, both were good. Although, it took a bit for the Love Boat to come out, it was absolutely worth the wait. If I'm back in the area, I will definitely come to this place again!

I placed an order for 30 dollars worth of food and drove 15 minutes to pick it up. Upon arriving back at home I realized part of the order was missing. When I called to get a refund for what was missing, I was told that they cannot process refunds. Do not order from this restaurant unless you are fine with being scammed out of your money

This is without a doubt my favorite place to get food in Harrisonburg. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. My personal favorite is the rock'n shrimp bento box or the steak hibachi. I always end up leaving with leftovers (and the hibachi will give me 2 days worth of leftovers!). The prices are very good, especially as a broke college student on a budget. Their sushi is very good. I always order the Pink Lady. If you don't like the ginger salad dressing (complimentary salad!!), definitely go for the ranch dressing. I love both dressings! The staff are always friendly and the place is clean and nice. I can't even tell you how many times I've eaten here in the past 4 years, and it just never gets old. Sakura 10 has a special place in my heart (and I'll miss the hibachi SO MUCH...)

I was actually intending on dining in at Sushi Jako, which is just up the road, but they were closed to prep for dinner. So, naturally, I came here, as I've already tried out Sushi Village. I expected a pretty standard sushi place, but I believe I had something slightly above average for my first visit. I started with a sashimi platter for apps, and it was 7 pieces total including tuna, white tuna and yellowtail. Tasted pretty fresh, especially the white tuna, in bigger chunks than usual. I also ordered a standard spicy salmon roll and the Colorful Roll, which is one of the special rolls. Really nice flavor on the salmon, except there was something hard that I was biting into on every roll. Unsure exactly what it was, but I still enjoyed it. The real kicker was the special roll. It wasn't smothered in sauce and had a really good balance. The rolls weren't caked with rice, they had just the right amount. Good service as well, to add. High 3s/5.

Quick service, sat down and ordered then less than 10 mins later the food came out hot and a good size! Very attentive service, you must try the Yum Yum sauce! They give you a free small salad to start as well. Will be coming back again! Also try the lime candies.

Finally!! After trying a bunch of Asian restaurants in Harrisonburg, I've found good Asian food!! I made an order for takeout, and my food was ready for pickup within 30 minutes! Upon entering the restaurant, it was completely packed at every table on a Friday night which is always a good sign. The woman at the counter was very friendly and attentive to everyone walking in the door. This must be the only good General Tso's in Harrisonburg! I've tried most of the Chinese restaurants in the area, and Sakura's is by far the best. Everything was very fresh. The food was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and I could barely finish there was so much food (not super big into large portions, but I was impressed!). I regret not going to Sakura sooner!!

I nice cheaper alternative to the $20 Japanese steakhouses. Good portion size. Tasted like a normal yummy hibachi. The gyoza was okay.

The hibachi and gyoza dumplings are good. Don't recommend the onion soup...it's overpowering and has a funny taste to it.

Arrived early and witnessed the chef, double up on two patrons and significantly slight my 2 orders To-go. Nah, H*** Nah... that wasn't cool. To Go order cost more, yet we receive less. Makes no sense! I only dine at locally owned establishments to support them. Yet, I will not recommend a place that takes advantage of their customers. Dine in was beneficial for the 2 customers at the hibachi table who received more of our food, yet was a costly mistake for our take out. Shrimp were also the size one would find in shrimp salad. itsy bitsy teenie weeny. 80 bucks for this???? Stay clear, many more better choices. Meal was tasty, yet very expensive for the quantity received. A patron standing next to me recommended a better option, (begins with an S, K in the middle, and ends with an A). and says she only gets soup from this place... from a local. hmm says a lot!

I guess I should've known better, but the make your own drink was mediocre because the guava option was based off a not-so-yummy juice. So next I ordered a drink off their menu and it was just alright. Honestly, I'd just skip out on drinks next time, but it was New Year's Eve so.. I did try to ask our server for drink reccs but she was 20.. So, we really enjoyed our ramens. Even the veggie ramen that I ordered, with a clear broth, was quite tasty - I've had clear broth options that were less flavorful. We also ordered a few additional appetizers. We shared some bao buns which were excellent, my partner ordered some meat skewers and I ordered a salmon nori taco. All in all, a great little shop. We considered coming back later on our trip but decided to explore elsewhere.

I came with a particular need to get something that was both flavorful but not overly traumatizing for an ailing stomach. A miso ramen fit the bill nicely. While Japanese, the menu is vegetarian-friendly and offers ample customization. My ramen was tasty, but I did feel a bit shorted by getting only one marinated tofu sheet to finish off at the end. I needed some sushi to feel full, and fortunately, their inari with a seaweed salad filling were delicious, arguably more so than the ramen. A tea from their boba menu delivered some nice chia seeds and strong flavor, albeit with an aftertaste. I wouldn't say that my bar for ramen was reset, but as a regular driver along I-81, I felt good about having made this stop and wouldn't mind repeating it.

However, in the years since the pandemic, I can't help but feel like the quality of the food's gone down. I'm not sure if the recipe's changed or if they're using different ingredients - but it's just not that good anymore. I recently got the chicken hibachi for their lunch special and immediately, one of the things I first noticed was just how rubbery the chicken pieces were. They also tasted off and not even the yum yum sauce (which I'm pretty sure is different from the one they used to have) could save the taste. They also have a different mushroom soup now that has a lot more spice in it and the taste doesn't match with how it used to be. That being said, I will say that my wife has always enjoyed their sushi here and has never had a complaint on that. Also - the staff here have always been super kind and attentive. We've never had a single issue with the folks that work here. I can't speak of the atmosphere or state of the restaurant since I haven't dined here since 2013. Osaka's is also another staple of Culpeper and frankly - tastes better than Dragon Chef in my opinion. I just wish my recent experiences were as good as my old ones. If nothing else, the staff here are amazing and their sushi is worth coming back here for again and again. Best pricing for their lunch specials!
