I've gotten a Poké bowl here and it was very good. I had spicy tuna with mango, cucumber, seaweed salad, pink ginger and tempura flakes as a topping. The mango was so good and everything was very fresh. Their fountain drinks are Pepsi products but you can't have everything. Casual atmosphere good food. read more

We were traveling through town and stopped here for sushi. Many times we have amazing experiences at places that are in random, local strip malls. Today was so so. The food was not horrible but it did not blow us away. I've definitely had much worse but I've also had better. The staff were nice and for a quick lunch, we were satisfied. The sushi was very fresh and a lot per serving. We had a party boat for three and a dragon roll. We were happily realest afterwards. If you're looking for a fast and solid sushi/asian food, definitely go here! We always stop in Harrisonburg on our way to Tennessee from DC and needed a change from the typical Chipotle and Chick fila. We got the chicken teriyaki bento box with fried rice for our two toddlers to share. It was huge and more than enough for them. We also tried the Crazy Spicy Tuna roll. I wasn't expecting much from an express sushi place in a college town but I was pleasantly surprised. Sushi to rice ratio was good. The rice consistency was correct. I wouldn't say it was spicy but had a slight kick. It could be more spicier. The staff was friendly and polite. We will be adding this to our Harrisonburg food repertoire! read more

This is a nice, casual place to get sushi or some Japanese food. You order first at the counter towards the back and go from there. I usually order my food to go and never had to wait long. The only thing I've ever gotten (and I don't think it will be changing anytime soon) is the spicy tuna sushi burrito. It's better and cheaper than any of the sushi burritos in DC or anywhere, really. We ate here twice while staying for the week at massanutten. The kids loved the flavorful chicken teriyaki and gyoza, and the adults loved the spicy tuna sushi burrito, it's smaller than you think and more like a giant hand roll but the price was right for the amount you get but the flavor made us come back another day for the same thing. God I miss this place. When I lived in Harrisonburg I went to Sato's almost every week. So cheap, delicious, and filling! I visited a few months ago and it was the first thing I ate when I arrived in town and the last thing I ate before I left! Found this place by accident after visiting from NY. There sushi is amazing!! The guy turns on his little lamp and cleans the wooden table and begins to make your sushi in front of you! Fresh!! They literally cut the avocado right in front of you and put it into your sushi roll! Never tried anything other than there sushi. One of my favorite Asian places in town. All of the sushi is fantastic, and the lunch and dinner items are great too. The portions are usually very generous, especially the rice and udon based dishes. The decor itself of the location may seem like it's lacking, but I honestly don't mind as the food brings me back. Wow, for such a small city like Harrisonburg, I didn't expect them to have such an excellent and affordable Japanese Restaurant. All the food (including other foods BESIDES their sushi) are out of this world. Their ingredients taste so fresh and my taste buds go on a crazy adventure every time I go to Mr. Sato's. I've been to different parts of the country (never out though) and this is definitely up there with one of my favorite Japanese Restaurants! We resisted Panera so we could eat local on a road-trip to D.C. last weekend, and this is where Yelp led us. All three of us got the chicken yakitori, which were little kebabs of deliciousness, a delicious mix of savory and sweet (and I say this as someone who's not a huge meat eater). Everything else in the bento box with it was on point, too, though I especially loved the shumai. Hubby got gyoza, and like the rest of the meal, they tasted homemade and fresh and I wanted to eat them all day. Although actually it was so much food that none of us could finish. A true diamond in the dirt. I would have never thought I would find good sushi in Harrisonburg, VA. This place is located in the middle of cow/chicken country, but somehow found a way to serve some of the best sushi I've ever had. Everything was fresh, nothing felt like it was frozen or recently thawed out. The cuts were all big portions, and the best part was that it was extremely reasonably priced. I got the sushi/sashami combo which normally would have been like $25 here in the DMV for only $15 there. My friends got the dinner for 2 for $30 which could definitely feed 2 -3 people. It's located in a college town though, so the prices have to be semi affordable. You get awesome quality sushi for very cheap. No unnecessary here frills either. They serve everything on Styrofoam plates and use wooden chopsticks. I am definitely craving to come back and maybe up their stars. We were looking for takeout and decided on this place after a friend recommended it. I got their chicken yakitori bento. It was only $8 and I wasn't sure what to expect at first. The food was surprisingly good. The serving size is also really big. They gave me three skewers of chicken and plenty of rice. It also came with some veggies hidden beneath the meat, miso soup, four California rolls, and a couple pieces of shumai. I couldn't finish my food by myself and I was absolutely stuffed. There are sauces for no extra charge. I got eel sauce and yum yum sauce. I thought the eel sauce went well with the yakitori and I liked the yum yum sauce on the veggies. They also have delicious teriyaki and soba noodle entrees, but I usually end up loading up on sushi because it's just so good. The owner and other staff are always super kind and friendly, too. The past two times I've ordered, doesn't matter what I actually ordered, they just give you some thrown together version of a California roll and then try to cover it up with sauce so that you don't notice that they didn't actually give you what you ordered.
