I've been here 4 times and have always had a terrible experience.
The first time was when they first opened and nothing memorable about that trip.
Second time was when I said I would never come back. I went on $1 sushi night not expecting much. I ordered 6-8 pieces(nothing too crazy). It was towards the end of the night and unbeknownst to me, they were out of most of the things I ordered. The chef didn't want to make more as it was an hour to closing, understandable. What I didn't understand was why no one informed me and just decided to give me a mismatch of whatever they had left? By the time our waiter brought over our food and informed me, it was "too late" for me to order something else. Fine whatever, I ate 2-3 of the rolls I actually ordered and left the rest that they randomly gave me. The check came and I was charged for food I didn't order! When a customer orders something and you're don't have it, you DON'T randomly give them something else without checking. My friend and I were so appalled we just paid and left.
Third time was for a friend's birthday, lots of sake-bombs and the service was good but food was meh.
My last and final time I went was because my boyfriend really wanted mochi(I still blame him for that ill fated night) and he worked at the bar next door so we went after his shift. I ordered the miso glazed salmon and he ordered fried rice. Service was slow even though we were the only ones there but it was a beautiful summer night so we didn't mind. Finally our food came only to be inedible. My boyfriends fried rice was fine but my miso salmon was so salty I needed a pitcher of water to wash down the first bite. Miso comes in a concentrated paste and has to be diluted otherwise it's just an extremely salty, fermented soybean paste. I mention this to the waiter, he apologizes and offers to get me some hot water to dilute it with. I'm just honestly at a lost. Do any of their waitstaff have any experience in customer service? I don't spend money to eat out so I can disgusting food and have to fix it myself. That's not even the best part though...
Literally the next day I'm at the bar my boyfriend works at and a group of guys walk in. One of them we recognize as our server from the night before. He introduced us to one of the guys who was the manager of Sake-tumi. A few drinks in, I casually brought up what happened yesterday and that he should ask the chef to check the sauce and do you know what he proceeds to tell me? He informs me that he was actually in the kitchen last night cooking and that he REMEMBERED my order because he tasted the sauce, thought it was "woooh, that's salty" and SENT IT OUT ANYWAY! He even told me that he had hoped whoever ordered it wouldn't send it back!! WTFFFF I can not make this stuff up. Garbage place, garbage management, garbage business practices. read more
