I awoke from sleep 4-5 hours later with every classic symptom of food poisoning. After my 8th time throwing up not being able to hold down any fluid,I went off to the hospital and was treated there. $20 sushi was not worth the hospital bill or tremendously awful Saturday night. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, it's pretty, it's fun to eat, I like playing with chopsticks and it's healthy. I stopped here because I like all the pretty pictures from you Yelpers (keep clicking, lol), the reviews are really good and I was hungry. The location is part of the long frontage that has Target and a Food Lion. It was really hopping in there, the dining room was at least 70% full at noon. I took a seat at the sushi making bar so I could watch the magic happen. I was greeting immediately, handed a menu, ordered some green tea and scanned the hefty menu. They have a really nice $6.95 lunch menu that includes miso soup, two choices, and salad. I ordered the Earthquake and Dream Roll. There were two guys making sushi and they were non-stop. Take-out orders were going out as fast as diners filled all of the tables. My miso soup was hot and delicious, perfectly seasoned. The dressing on the salad was also very good but the iceberg lettuce was very wet leaving a puddle under it that diluted the dressing. I am not a fan of iceberg but needed it to get that dressing into my mouth. The Earthquake had just the perfect amount of heat for me and the cream cheese in the Dream Roll was a party in my mouth. My husband and I ate a late lunch here yesterday. It's not busy at all during Saturday lunch, I'll have you know--we were the only ones in the restaurant most of the time we were there. However, that didn't bother us at all. We had very good service--almost overly solicitous. I couldn't quite figure out why General Hospital was playing on the TV, though--especially since it was Saturday. We ordered sake and green tea. The tea was a bit more bitter than I'm used to for Japanese restaurants, but it was tolerable. The sake was decent. We ordered shumai (shrimp dumplings) and harumaki (spring vegetable rolls) as appetizer--tasty. For our meal, my husband ordered the spicy tuna bowl and I ordered the seafood soba. I was pleased with my meal--everything was fresh and tasted fine. My husband claimed he liked his meal as well. We're definitely planning to come back when we're in Norfolk. read more

I love this place! My man and I are a bit addicted! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the waitstaff and the sushi chefs. The waitstaff is very prompt and gets you settled in as soon as possible. Ordering food is quick and there is practically no wait time! The presentation of the sushi is always aesthetically pleasing and the fish is always fresh. It doesn't taste/smell oily or "fishy" and the colors are vibrant and beautiful. The atmosphere is very quiet and mellow. Tables, floor and windows are always clean and sparkly. The waitress there is amazing! She is so friendly and her efforts to make sure we have everything we need is very appreciated. The chefs are awesome! What they do truly is art and sometimes it is so beautiful I feel bad for eating it! Their prices are very fair compared to several other sushi restaurants in the area. They do have lunch specials and we have been given a coupon before. I have yet to take advantage of their take-out options, but they do offer that service too. Just had lunch here after reading the reviews on yelp. I got the lunch box...for $6.95 you get miso soup, a salad (with amazing house ginger dressing), steamed rice, and then you pick 2 items off their list of sushi, sashimi, or kitchen items(like tempura or teriyaki). I picked a Philly Roll and the Dream Roll as my choices for my box. Both rolls were absolutely delicious. The service was good, our server was very friendly and helpful. The person I was with doesn't eat sushi unless it's cooked so the waitress helped pick out cooked sushi options that he actually enjoyed. My only complaint with this place is their Miso soup left something to be desired. The broth was bland. But I don't really care about Miso soup anyways so I didn't miss out. The miso was ok, scallions in it weren't very fresh. The salad was ok, the lettuce was at room temperature and dressing was lacking The ginger flavor. The shrimp tempura was just lettuce, cucumber, and 1 piece of shrimp tempura; pretty disappointing. Most places have avocado in the shrimp tempura. The volcano roll was pretty good, 4 pieces. The service was super fast. Food was ready 7 minutes after I ordered. Wasn't packed, just a few others in there. Place isn't super clean, but not gross looking either. I loooooove Sake Sushi. I love the fantasy roll, pink lady, and christmas tree. Their eel sauce and spicy mayo are just right. You get a free volcano roll if you buy 3 special rolls. I also really like their shrimp shumai. It is very delicate and sweet. They have Pepsi products. The staff is always so nice and even though we only go about once a month they seem to all remember us. They usually have news or sports on the tvs. It always seems very clean here, also. I got a package deal that included a roll that was tiny by grocery store sushi standards, a salad that consisted of iceberg lettuce and a few carrot straws, bland yakisoba(why ramen noodles are being sold outside of 7 Eleven is beyond me), bland chicken teriyaki, and the worst rendition of dishwater soup that I have ever come across in a sushi bar. All of this for just $31.00! Now my wife feels sick from eating it. I already hated Norfolk, now I hate Sake 2 Sushi as well. I think I found my new favorite lunch spot!! They offer the best lunch special I've found so far in this area. For a sweet $7.35 + tax you can get 2 sushi rolls or a selection of kitchen items AND a side of steamed rice, salad AND soup! The best part about is they don't only offer the standard rolls like most sushi places do with their specials but they include a few specialty rolls as well! You do only get 1/2 (4 pieces) but it's enough! I got the volcano roll and twin tower roll (1/2) and both were delicious and fresh. I substituted my rice for a double portion of salad with no problem and enjoyed their dressing - it's not the peanut one, thank goodness! lol. I can not wait to go here again! read more

Well today we made the hour trip back and I will say it was worth it! Everything I have tried was fresh and delicious. So far we have tried the Earthquake roll, Sexy On the beach roll, Holland roll, Red or spicy Dragon, and one other I can not remember the name it had seaweed, lobster, and crab salad on top ... But order anything! You will no be disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful with which rolls to try. Today when we left we ordered four rolls just to take home with us for dinner! The only other sushi restaurant in Military Circle is Wasabi, which is delicious, but pricey. I ordered the $6.99 bento lunch box to-go, with my rolls being a shrimp tempura roll and a volcano roll. Additional items were miso soup, rice, and ginger dressing salad. Everything tasted good, though I thought it was odd that the shrimp tempura roll had romaine lettuce in it. Not bad, just weird.
