This is one of three wonderful Sake House locations! I can safely say that my girlfriend and I have tried all three (a plethora of times) and not once have we been disappointed. There is a certain kind of care that you can tell goes into these establishments and the preparation of the food you won't find anywhere else. The sushi rolls are big with a good amount of fish and other ingredients. They offer a "2-4-1" beer special on my most of their beers all day everyday which is unbeatable. Came here to celebrate a new job with my girlfriend and was very pleasantly surprised as the terrific value here! First, they have BOGO happy hour ALL DAY y'all. $12 for two saketinis with Tito's for me, $10 for two Mai Tai's for the lady!!! Second, note that they do not always have tabletop teppanyaki available here. Some folks may not love this part but, I honestly didn't mind not having to wait for a chef or having to sit with strangers. Everything is available from the hibachi menu at regular tables. Third, the food was terrific! We got the Sake House special for two with chicken, shrimp, scallop & steak... tons of leftovers for lunch tomorrow as well! Disappointing Experience & Poor Value I ordered hibachi steak and shrimp with extra chicken and was extremely disappointed with what I received. I got only three pieces of shrimp, half a steak (just five small pieces), and barely more than one egg mixed into the rice, even though it was supposed to have three eggs for multiple people. To top it off, there was a $9 upcharge for sitting at the hibachi table--something I wasn't informed of until I saw the receipt. I expected some kind of show or entertaining presentation, as is typical with hibachi, but the cook barely interacted or did anything beyond basic cooking. The dishes also weren't cleaned properly, which was concerning. For the price I paid, the portions, presentation, and service were incredibly underwhelming. I could have gone elsewhere and gotten better food, larger portions, and a cleaner environment for a lower price. I won't be returning. read more

Interesting place. It's Japanese and Italian. Definitely came for the sushi though. I ordered for pick up for NYE. Ordered a variety of items to try. I ordered the Rock In Shrimp Fried, Cheese Wontons, Shumai, and Hibachi Noodles. For sushi I ordered the 2011, NYC Roll, Jaguar, and the Tampa. The Rock In Shrimp Fried was just fried shrimp and no sauce. Not great and would not recommend. The Cheese Wontons were good and basic. Nothing special or different. The Shumai was fried. It was good. I've only ever had it steamed so it was different than what I am use to. The Hibachi Noodles were good. The yum yum sauce that comes with it was missing something. It was only runny. The 2011 roll is deep fried. It is salmon, cream cheese, avocado, spicy Mayo, eel sauce, and yummy sauce. The NYC Roll is yellowtail, cucumber, scallions, and smelt roe. The Jaguar roll is deep fried. It is eel, cream cheese, and avocado. The Tampa roll is fried grouper, onion, and Mayo. All of it was good except the NYC roll and the Rock In Shrimp. Get the tempura chicken and vegetables, it comes with soup salad, and pay the little extra for the fried rice. It's a huge meal that will last an average person two sittings (takeout y'all). The miso I drank without a spoon, no seaweed and very little miso, but good flavor and no complaints. The salad was basic but the ginger dressing was everything. We ordered a few too many for our group of 5 (takeout y'all) and I ended up eating three of those little salads over the next 24 hours. The chicken appeared to have a Katsu batter while the veggies are a more true tempura batter. Good tempura sauce. The fried rice is maybe made on their hibachi grills? It tastes amazing. Hot, cold out of the fridge, didn't matter. There are egg pieces in it, so if you don't like egg, then ignore it because it's too flavorful to miss. The only complaint is that we ordered a sushi a certain way, called to make sure it would come that way, and still did not receive the customization. But if you are just doing a straight order with no customizing, I would expect you to have better luck. read more

I was in the mood for some sushi so I checked out this place on Uber eats. The menu looked pretty good and the delivery time was short so I placed my order. Everything arrived with no issues. I got the hibachi noodles and the hibachi chicken which were very good. Not really anything special but really enjoyed it. I also got a couple of different sushi rolls, one had the tempura shrimp and really tasted amazing! The presentation for takeout was awesome! In addition we picked up a couple of orders of potstickers and they were good but the dipping sauce was a little on the blind side. We added a little soy sauce to help improve the flavor. I guess it lives up to the name of Godzilla. It looks more like the city in which Godzilla destroys! This is our GO-TO place for sushi and we are picky. If you know sushi you know right away when their sushi rice is made correctly and their rice is near perfect. CONSISTENTLY on point sushi; been there over ten times now. Their sushi is always fresh no matter the day of week we order. We've tried many of their Maki rolls and have liked them all. They have a half off happy hour for sushi that makes it affordable. The dumplings are crispy and the pork is flavorful. The service is unremarkable and decor somewhat dated but an enjoyable experience for take out or dining in. read more

I posted my updated review on their Kobe Italian Yelp but I think it should also be here since it's about their sushi. I heard that there was a new management in place and my coworker suggested I give it another shot after my first experience. I would have to say it was better, but not by much. I'm still not impressed. Honestly, my stars would be closer to a 2.75. Anyways... We ordered from the Japanese menu. We started with the Rock n Shrimp, sashimi deluxe and an sake house roll. The Rock n Shrimp was literally rock hard. The batter was almost burnt and presentation was horrible. I was super disappointed and the chefs sauce was nothing I cared for. With such a bad start I was praying the sashimi would be better from the last time. And thankfully it was! The fish is fresher and not dull in color. It's not the best because besides the salmon and escolar there was no flavor. The sushi roll was a little green madness of seaweed and baked fish on top of an avocado wrapped California. It wasn't bad but I think the seaweed salad is somewhat out of place and the baked tuna and salmon can be dry. I would have liked it more torched instead. I wasn't a fan of the service and think it's awkward when you walk in and someone behind the bar is trying to host while walking off around the corner of the bar. We've ordered from this place a couple times and have used Uber to deliver so have never had interaction with the establishment itself. We had a couple rolls we enjoyed in past, so we've come back to it. This last order we received was definitely not a pleasant experience. While opening our food from the delivery, there was a fly in one of our lobster roll containers. Once we eliminated the fly in the house, my girlfriend called the establishment. She explained the situation and the girl who answered the phone and stated we could not receive a credit, and the only thing we could do was come in to replace that portion of the order. This place is 20 minutes away, but my girlfriend decided she wanted to go as it was an expensive order. Once there she was asked to provide pictures of the fly in the food. Obviously once the container was opened and we noticed it, it flew out. We're not National Geographic and expecting to take a photo shoot while opening our dinner. She was treated extremely poorly, and that will certainly be our last visit. I could explain the establishment further, but it would seem petty and detract from the customer relations and food experience in general. My qualm with this restaurant is its Italian alter ego- which is advertised in a sign one can still see from Ulmerton "Kobe Italian". But it is neither Kobe Italian, nor Kobe, nor Italian. The first time we came to this restaurant was because we had a gift certificate from restaurants.com. Interesting to note that it was for "Kobe", but not the same Kobe found on US 19 in Clearwater. Had an odd waitress that forgot to bring rice when we asked. Other than that, the food was standard. Recently I was invited to Sake House, for which I had looked up the address and saw it was the same for this place but I had no idea that was its name. We did the hibachi grill with the usual pyrotechnics. Again standard food. Don't think I'll be going out of my way to come here again but it is good for hosting a group that just needs the usual Japanese fare. read more

But I disliked my first experience because of the staff and the service. When we asked for a manager we were told he only works from Noon to 6 on weekdays. She followed that up with "Well, me and [the other waitress that we part-timed to do her prep work] basically run this place, so you can ask us anything." We had a feeling that with NO supervision or management present, the employees at this establishment basically do what they want with little to no compassion (and consequence?). Granted the place looked nice and cozy and the food was superb, it felt like the restaurant was most recently a sports bar and the owner kept the inattentive, pompous, and negligent staff in place as a means to simply provide [whatever kind of] basic service with minimal effort. I'm still waiting on it as I type this. Then when I call, the woman was nice however the excuse was that they only had one sushi guy on and were really busy. Like...get it together. I feel like our order was just completely neglected. When we got the food my friend's was completely ice cold (she got fried rolls) and she was missing a roll. Mine I was scared to eat because if hers had been sitting out my raw fish must have too. The delivery guy said they'd had him waiting for 30 minutes. Not only did I get past due salmon Roe I also had to almost go to the hospital because the volcano roll I order from Uber eats specifically said NO AVOCADOS ALLERGY but after eating a few pieces I started to notice my throat starting to get itchy and slowly couldn't breath. I had knowing that if I put NO AVOCADOS ALLERGY the sushi chiefs would know not to put it in there and yet they still did so I will never order from this place ever again know that if you have a food allergy they won't accommodate for it at all they will just make it as is. read more

I recently came here for lunch with a friend and was so glad to find a new Good sushi spot nearby work. They had lunch specials that included two rolls, miso soup and a salad for $7.99 or $8.99. The sushi was fresh and original. They have an extensive menu so I can't wait to go back. They also have a hibachi grill so we will be back for that for sure. This time I received my meal the bag was soaked, all items were looked to have been thrown around. (Which couldve been the delivery service). If zero stars were possible, that's what I would choose. Only one chef on staff this evening, which is fine. The issue we had was that we called ahead with no warning that they would have no idea when the chef could get to us. A party of nine sat down before us and were the only other people in the Resturant at 7pm at night. After 25 minutes of waiting, the new owner of the establishment had no estimate to when the chef would start their hibachi table NOR when we would be able to sit at one ourselves. We asked the new owner why we weren't informed of the situation of being short staffed when we called ahead and she insisted that she never spoke to us. After a total of 30 minutes with not even of an estimate of when to sit, even though the entire place looked like it had just gone out of business, we left. What a joke!! I think it goes by the name Kobe Japanese and Italian. It doesn't make a difference which you are going in to eat both are equally as good. The presentation of the sushi is great. The drinks and service are good. Would recommend this spot. Only problem I had was there was a woman at the end of the bar with a dog on her lap. Not the spot for animals.
